Top-Tier Seduction! The Wolf Pup Younger Brother Pretends to Be Innocent to Flirt with Me Again Chapter 196 – Capturing the Culprit

Mu Jianhua immediately countered Zhao Yao’s accusations logically.
“Zhao Yao, your father shouting ‘Mu Yecheng’ doesn’t prove that Mu Yecheng was the murderer.”
He continued, “And since you’ve investigated the Mu family, you should know that my family has been a prominent household in S City for generations. My father had no reason to risk his career for that money.”

Zhao Yao sneered. “Who would ever complain about having too much money?”

Mu Jianhua’s voice sharpened. “But he’s already dead. As his son, I know nothing about this money. Do you think he stole it just to take it to the grave?”

At that moment, a message from the technical team arrived: “Commander, we’ve located him. Heading over now.”

Zhao Yao tightened his grip on the phone, his face darkening. “Who knows if you’re just lying to me?”

Sensing a crack in Zhao Yao’s resolve, Mu Jianhua pressed on. “Zhao Yao, I promise you this: if you don’t harm the hostage, I will give you a satisfactory answer within 24 hours.”

Zhao Yao remained silent.

Mu Jianhua continued, “You don’t want to take revenge on the wrong person and leave your family restless in their graves, do you?”

Zhao Yao hesitated before replying, “Fine, I’ll give you—”

Suddenly, a loud shout came through the phone: “Don’t move! Hands up!”

Gunshots echoed, followed by a police officer’s voice. “Commander, the hostage has been rescued, and the kidnapper has been subdued.”

Mu Jianhua, who had spent the entire night on edge, finally relaxed. “Take him to the station. I’ll head there immediately.”

When Mu Wan woke up, still worried, she was told the kidnapper had been captured. The news felt almost surreal to her. After all, based on her memories from her past life and the failures in this operation, she had overestimated the kidnapper, thinking he was invincible.

“I’m heading to the station now,” Mu Jianhua said. “Don’t worry about this anymore. Go about your day.”

“Dad, I want to come with you,” Mu Wan insisted.

Kuang Ye, concerned, asked, “Wan wan, are you sure you can handle it?” He was worried because this was the man who had killed her in her past life.

Mu Wan took a deep breath. “I want to know why. It’s been two lifetimes. I need to understand why I was hurt so unjustly.”

Half an hour later, in the interrogation room of S City’s Criminal Investigation Unit, Zhao Yao sat with handcuffs on, his expression dark and menacing.

“It’s impossible,” he snarled. “I spoke to Mu Jianhua for less than a minute. How could you pinpoint my location so accurately?”

He had even used a signal jammer. His past experience abroad, working on similar kidnapping cases, had taught him how to evade law enforcement.

The officer recording the session smirked. “Surprised? Our country’s investigative techniques are leagues ahead of the rest of the world.”

In truth, Mu Jianhua had anticipated Zhao Yao’s expertise in counter-surveillance, based on how he had evaded capture in the previous timeline. To counter this, they had borrowed advanced network tracking specialists and cutting-edge equipment from the capital and a neighboring city. With these resources, they could locate him within ten seconds.

In his previous life, the kidnapper had only made one call, which was why they failed to catch him.

Zhao Yao’s face darkened. He glared at the officer, his eyes brimming with resentment.

Curious, the officer asked, “On the day of the incident at the Wutong Café, the police had a tight net in place. We didn’t even let electric scooters pass. How did you manage to abduct someone?”

Zhao Yao smirked wickedly. “Why don’t you take a guess?”

A loud thunk interrupted them as someone set down an enamel cup filled with goji berries and dates. It was the vice-captain of the criminal investigation team, one of the heroes of the operation.

“No need to guess,” he said. “After being rescued, the hostage vomited all over the street. This guy must’ve used the sewers.”

He continued, “There’s a rain shelter behind the café that blocked drone surveillance. In all of S City, only the Shui Jiang Road area has a composite utility corridor. Every other sewer is a long pipe. If Zhao Yao wanted to escape, he’d have had to swim through filthy water.”

The recording officer grimaced.

Soon, Mu Jianhua and the others arrived at the station.

The moment Mu Wan saw Zhao Yao’s face, she staggered. Kuang Ye quickly caught her.

Zhao Yao sprang to his feet when he saw Mu Jianhua, glaring at him with intense hatred. “You liar! You said your father didn’t kill my family!”

Mu Jianhua met his gaze coldly. “I told you it wasn’t him. While I currently don’t have proof to clear his name, you don’t have evidence proving my father was responsible, either.”

Zhao Yao scoffed. “Are you saying my father lied about what he told me?”

Mu Jianhua’s tone was firm. “I’ll investigate this matter thoroughly. I believe my family would never do something illegal. But you—your crime of kidnapping is undeniable. Prepare to spend the rest of your life in prison.”

Zhao Yao sneered. “Oh, a good dad protecting his daughter. Are you planning to pull strings and make my life in prison hell? I’m so scared.”

Then his tone turned venomous. “Mark my words: if I ever get out, I’ll come back. I’ll make your entire family’s life a nightmare.”

Mu Jianhua rolled up his sleeves. “You little scumbag. Think you’re tough because you’ve got nothing to lose? I’ll put an end to you right here!”

Police officers hurriedly restrained Mu Jianhua, while Zhao Yao burst into manic laughter. “Hahaha! What’s it going to be, Commander Mu? Will you follow the law and let me rot in prison, or abuse your power to take me out?”
