No, wait! Kuang Ye quickly dismissed this thought. That bastard had been sentenced to ten years, and only half of that time had passed. It was impossible for him to have been released so soon. If it were an escape, the police would definitely have contacted him, as his son.
Wait a minute. He suddenly realized a flaw in his reasoning. After he was officially recognized by the Kuang family, he was no longer the son of Kuang Daqiang. If the person really had escaped from prison, the police wouldn’t contact him.
In a rush, he hastily threw on his clothes while dialing Kuang Shuyu’s number. No one picked up.
“Damn it!” He shoved the phone into his pocket and quickly rushed to the location on the note.

On the other side, Mu Wan slowly regained consciousness from her faint. She realized she was in an abandoned building, her hands and feet bound to a chair. There was wind blowing in from all sides, and when she looked down, she saw that she was at least six stories up.
“Where am I…?” She felt a sense of panic and quickly turned her gaze away. Her memory only went as far as opening the hotel door, and then everything went black, and she remembered nothing.
“Don’t move,” a male voice said suddenly. “I know what your father job is. Be good, and I won’t hurt you.”
Mu Wan turned her head and saw a man in his forties, wearing a worn leather jacket and jeans, with a baseball cap. Her eyes widened. She recognized him. This was the same man from the video that Kuang Xingran had shown her, the one who had clashed with Kuang Ye.
“Who are you? Why did you kidnap me?” She forced down the panic in her chest, but the terrifying memories of being kidnapped and tortured in her past life began to surface. Her voice trembled uncontrollably.
Kuang Daqiang, smoking a cheap cigarette, showed a mouthful of yellow teeth. “I said I won’t hurt you, but I’m going to use you to threaten that little brat, Kuang Ye.”
“I just broke out of prison with great difficulty, and now I need a lot of money to get out of the country.”
When Mu Wan heard the word “prison,” she immediately recognized the man’s identity. Shocked, she asked, “You’re Kuang Ye’s foster father?”
A strange smile appeared on Kuang Daqiang’s dark face. “Has he told you about me?”
Mu Wan immediately fell silent. But after figuring out his goal, she felt a little relieved. At least he was after money, unlike in her past life…
She shuddered involuntarily.
“Don’t think about it,” she told herself. “Don’t think about it.”
One hour later, Kuang Ye arrived at the building, out of breath, holding a black snake-skin bag.
Seeing Kuang Daqiang’s disgusting face, his expression darkened. His gaze swept over Mu Wan, who was tied near the edge of the building. Sweat, large as beans, slid down her skin due to the panic she was feeling.
He tossed the snake-skin bag to the ground and gritted his teeth. “I brought the money. Let her go.”
Kuang Daqiang glanced at the bag on the ground, took a deep drag on his cigarette, and actually smiled.
“Kuang Ye, you’re not surprised to see me. Did you guess it was me?”
“Then you must not have called the police, huh?”
“Otherwise, if you caused the young lady of the Mu family to be kidnapped, your engagement with her will be completely over.”
Kuang Ye clenched his fists, struggling to resist the impulse to punch him. “Stop talking nonsense. Take the money and release Wan Wan. If she loses even a finger, I guarantee you won’t make it out of S City alive.”
Kuang Daqiang sighed. “Sigh, this might be the last time we ever see each other. After all, I was your father for over ten years. I still want to reminisce a bit.”
Kuang Ye felt disgusted to the core. “I have nothing to reminisce about with you.”
Kuang Daqiang looked at him, suddenly smiling, and tugged at the rope tying Mu Wan to the chair. The chair made a sound as it moved, causing Kuang Ye’s eyes to widen with fury.
“What are you trying to do?”
“Trying to make you speak to me with some respect.”
Kuang Ye knew he couldn’t provoke this bastard right now. Wan wan was still in his hands. He took a deep breath.
“Kuang Daqiang, the money is here.”
“You escaped from prison. The police will issue a warrant soon.”
“There’s no point in wasting time here with me.”
Kuang Daqiang’s eyes flickered, but he didn’t give in immediately. Instead, he suddenly turned to Mu Wan.
“Miss Mu, what is it that you see in this little bastard?”
“He dropped out of high school and has been a good-for-nothing.”
“He smokes, fights, and drinks, involved in everything bad.”
“He’s an ungrateful son. I raised him for so many years, and all I wanted was to ask him for some money, but he beat me with a baseball bat.”
“After escaping from a gambling den, I had no choice but to sell his mother. His mother treated him so well, protecting him from a young age, even saving up money for his school fees by collecting bottles.”
“But after he ran away, he never returned home again.”
“How cold-blooded and heartless he is.”
“You’re with this kind of person, aren’t you afraid of ruining your life?”
Kuang Ye listened to the dirty past being spewed from Kuang Daqiang’s mouth like mud, the veins in his forehead bulging. He nearly rushed over to cover Mu Wan’s ears.
This bastard… how could he let Mu Wan hear these filthy things?
