Chapter 36: Windfall
At this moment, when Zhao Yan heard some noise from the door, he immediately turned around. Two armored figures walked in, one of whom was none other than Jie Xi, and the other was wearing a mask. Zhao Yan immediately recognized this mask — yes, it was the mask of the Tower Master, Guang.
When Zhao Yan saw the two enter, he knew that his situation had become dire. After hesitating for a moment, he spoke, “Greetings, Tower Master. May I ask what brings you here?”
The Tower Master scanned the room before speaking, “Jie Xi.”
“Yes!” Jie Xi nodded in understanding and stepped forward, raising her great sword to thrust straight into Zhao Yan’s chest. Zhao Yan didn’t even have time to say anything more before he lost his life.
“Take them to the medical room for treatment,” the Tower Master said after the matter was resolved, then left, instructing Jie Xi to escort them to the medical room.
“Fatty, are you alright?” On the way, Su Mu Ying asked when she saw that Fatty had not passed out yet.
“Ying… Ying Jie… hehe…” Fatty didn’t finish his sentence before he passed out.
“Fatty, don’t sleep, hang on a little longer. We’re almost there.” Su Mu Ying urged as they continued on their way.
As they passed through, a few people noticed the injured trio lying on stretchers. Some blood was still on them, and a few staff from the medical room were escorting them. Word had spread that they had killed people in the arena, and many were keeping their distance, fearing unnecessary trouble.
…
When they reached the medical room, Jie Xi gave a brief instruction to Sophie before leaving to handle matters related to Zhao Yan.
This time, Wang Zhi had executed Jie Xi’s plan to perfection. Having the Tower Master witness it firsthand was much more convincing than trying to explain it. If the Tower Master had arrived earlier, when Zhao Yan hadn’t yet acted, there would have been many explanations available as to why he was there. But arriving late, the only thing left was a body, with no solid evidence that Zhao Yan was the one responsible. Jie Xi believed Wang Zhi was intelligent enough to understand her meaning, and he had timed the destruction of the pendant just right. Considering the time Jie Xi got the message and rushed there, it was almost the exact time after Wang Zhi had taken the first shot.
Outside the medical room, Su Mu Ying and Liu Li were anxiously waiting.
“Ying Jie, do you think they’ll be alright?” Liu Li asked.
Su Mu Ying didn’t respond. She silently stood by the wall, gently stroking Liu Li’s head.
An hour later, Sophie came out of the medical room.
“Your team leader suffered a couple of broken ribs from the impact of the bullets, but they have already been set. He should recover in about a week. As for the one who was shot in the back of the abdomen, the shrapnel has been removed, and based on the amount of blood loss, they can’t engage in any strenuous activity for at least half a month. Full recovery will take around a month. The one with the leg injury has already had the wound treated and stitched up. After two days of rest, they can come back to have the stitches removed. The total medical fees are 150 points. Once that’s settled, please go to the front desk to pay.”
Upon hearing that all three of them were fine, Su Mu Ying and Liu Li both sighed in relief.
After paying the medical fees, they went back to find Wang Zhi and Lao He had already come out. Wang Zhi was still walking slowly, limping slightly.
“I say, you broke your ribs, but why are you limping as well?” Su Mu Ying asked in confusion.
“It’s the pain that made me limp. So, what happened after I was shot?” Wang Zhi sat down beside her.
Su Mu Ying recounted the events after Wang Zhi was shot. When Wang Zhi heard that Fatty had been shot, he immediately stood up and was about to go to the medical room, but Su Mu Ying stopped him, telling him that Fatty was fine now.
Wang Zhi hadn’t expected the Tower Master to be following Jie Xi, but Jie Xi had her own plans. At least, he hadn’t died. Hearing that Fatty was fine, Wang Zhi felt relieved. If it weren’t for Fatty, Su Mu Ying might have already died.
“It’s good that they’re alright. I didn’t expect you, Su Mu Ying,” Wang Zhi turned and looked at the woman who used to be an assassin.
Su Mu Ying noticed Wang Zhi’s gaze and the challenging look in his eyes. She mentally reminded herself that he was injured, which kept her from acting on her urge to punch him.
After Jie Xi had taken care of her duties, she came to the medical room and handed their weapons back to them.
“Wang Zhi, the vice-captain really didn’t know about this, and it caused you trouble. This is Zhao Yan’s magnetic card, consider it your war trophy. You can go to the trading hall and transfer the survival points in it.”
After explaining, Jie Xi left. Now Wang Zhi had control of the survival points of the Crimson Flame Team and Zhao Yan. He was curious just how much wealth Zhao Yan had accumulated.
After distributing the weapons to the others, Wang Zhi and the team went to the trading hall. Once they arrived, they had the staff check the points in the card.
The Crimson Flame Team only had 800 points left, but the card from Zhao Yan shocked Wang Zhi and the others. The card contained 12,000 survival points!
According to the staff, Zhao Yan had once been part of a consortium, contributing a lot of money to build the place. Later, he exchanged the money for survival points. Moreover, as a layer supervisor, he had made quite a bit of profit from his position.
Looking at the 12,000 survival points, Wang Zhi felt his breath catch. This was an enormous windfall. With these points, not only could Wang Zhi’s team immediately advance to a tier 3 team, but they could also significantly enhance their equipment.
“Alright! Transfer all of it to this card!” Wang Zhi, suppressing his excitement, instructed the staff.
Once the transfer was complete, Wang Zhi prepared to go to the affairs hall to complete the team’s promotion and move to the third floor!
