Chapter 38: Let Me Teach You a Lesson

Two days later, Wang Zhi brought the Fatty back to the third-floor residence. He was now able to move around freely but couldn’t make any big movements.
“Time really flies. It’s almost been a week since we last went out,” Wang Zhi said, lying on the sofa in the living room, feeling sentimental.
“So, what plans do you have for the next outing?” Wang Zhi asked everyone.
“Plans? No plans, as long as we’re alive,” Su Mu Ying replied.
“What about Old He?”
Old He fell silent for a while before finally shaking his head.
“Don’t you have any plans to look for your family?” Wang Zhi turned over on the sofa and asked.
Everyone has someone important to them. Wang Zhi’s question was about whether they planned to search for that important person, but it seemed like no one had such plans.
“Let’s not talk about whether they’re alive or not. Even if they are alive, do you think we’ll have an easy life? And even if we do, would anyone want to follow us?” Su Mu Ying said.
Although Su Mu Ying’s words were harsh, they were the reality.
“Then we’ll just let things be. Take it one step at a time,” Wang Zhi said, and then turned to pat Jia Liuli’s head, asking, “Liuli, are you afraid to go outside?”
“I’m not afraid…”
“Mm… Alright, go rest. We’ve been practicing all day,” Wang Zhi said.
After everyone returned to their rooms to rest, Wang Zhi noticed that Su Mu Ying had not gone upstairs yet and asked, “Sister Ying, aren’t you resting?”
Su Mu Ying placed her foot on Wang Zhi’s body. Wang Zhi looked at her in confusion.
“We still have 25 days,” Su Mu Ying said.
It was at this moment that Wang Zhi remembered that he had promised to massage Su Mu Ying’s feet for a month. So, he began massaging her feet again.
Actually, after everything they went through outside, Wang Zhi was now a little afraid of going out. He was afraid of losing the people around him. Over the past days of spending time together, Wang Zhi had become more and more attached to them, especially during meals, conversations, and the laughter. Wang Zhi even felt that life now was more comfortable than it had been before the apocalypse.
“Sister Ying, if we can safely return next time, I’ll massage your feet for the rest of my life,” Wang Zhi said.
As soon as he said that, he felt Su Mu Ying’s foot tremble in his hands, and he realized he had gotten a little carried away.
“Sorry, Sister Ying, I…”
Su Mu Ying froze after hearing Wang Zhi’s words.
“A lifetime is too long. Even if we return next time, so what? What about the time after that? What about the time after that?” Su Mu Ying said. “If you die one day, who am I supposed to find?”
“Then you can die with me. After crossing over to the other side, I’ll continue to massage your feet,” Wang Zhi joked.
“Go die, you’re dreaming,” Su Mu Ying said, as she kicked Wang Zhi in the chest. However, Wang Zhi swiftly grabbed her foot, and before Su Mu Ying could retaliate, she found herself in a situation where she couldn’t break free. Wang Zhi had her trapped on the sofa.
“Okay, Wang Zhi, after training for just a few days, you already dare to bully your sister? Fine, I admit defeat,” Su Mu Ying said, realizing she couldn’t break free.
When Wang Zhi loosened his hold, Su Mu Ying quickly grabbed him and pulled him back onto the sofa. He ended up lying on top of her.
“Good little brother. Let me teach you one final lesson. Even if the opponent surrenders, you cannot let your guard down. Didn’t you just forget what happened in the arena with Zhao Yang’s dirty trick?”
Wang Zhi remembered how Zhao Yang had used underhanded tactics, and he reflected on how despicable people could be to achieve their goals. He thought about the heroes behind such methods, and how he would never know how many shady things happened behind their success.
“I certainly haven’t forgotten, but I’m willing to die at your hands, Sister Ying,” Wang Zhi responded, still playing it tough.
Su Mu Ying let go of Wang Zhi and smiled at him. Wang Zhi felt a chill down his spine from her gaze.
After a long stare, Su Mu Ying said, “I’m tired, carry me back to my room to rest.” She lay down on the sofa, looking at him like it was non-negotiable.
Wang Zhi reluctantly picked her up and carried her to her room. As he was about to leave, Su Mu Ying wrapped her legs around his waist, pulling him back onto the bed in the exact position she had just been in.
“Good little brother. Don’t you want to do something for your sister?” Su Mu Ying said with a teasing smile.
Wang Zhi looked at her on the bed, giving him a mischievous look, and said, “Sister Ying, it’s not that I don’t want to. It’s just that I’m a little distracted thinking about the knife you have under your pillow…”
“Haha, looks like you don’t need this lesson after all.” Su Mu Ying laughed and pulled a knife from under her pillow.
Wang Zhi: “…”
Seeing Wang Zhi’s speechless expression, Su Mu Ying stopped teasing him. “When you go out, make sure to turn off the lights. Thank you.”
Wang Zhi returned to his room, thinking about the things inside and outside the tower, before eventually falling asleep.
