Chapter 62: Meeting the Tower Master

Eternal Apocalypse? You mean them? Actually, I’m not entirely sure either. They arrived here before us and usually don’t interact with others. The captain is an old man who rarely shows up, but I’ve noticed their training techniques are quite unique, almost like… ninjutsu,” Zhang Ming recalled.

“Ninjutsu? Do you think they are from the island nations?” Wang Zhi asked.

“Yeah, most likely. There are foreigners here, so it’s not unusual.”

“I see. Go ahead with your training, I’ll go handle something else,” Wang Zhi said thoughtfully.

Wang Zhi planned to visit Jie Xi again and discuss his thoughts with her.

Arriving at the guard headquarters, he entered the lobby and saw Jie Xi talking to An Qing.

When Jie Xi saw Wang Zhi, she quickly dismissed An Qing with a few words and then led Wang Zhi to her room.

“Nice outfit,” Jie Xi said, tapping the steel plates inside Wang Zhi’s clothes.

“If you like it, Captain Jie Xi, I could design a set for you as well,” Wang Zhi scratched his head and said.

“No need for that. I heard Zhang Ming from the former dynasty joined your team?” Jie Xi asked, sitting down.

“Yes, I didn’t expect Captain Jie Xi to be so well-informed, haha.”

Wang Zhi wasn’t surprised by Jie Xi’s knowledge; with her position, it would have been strange if she didn’t know.

“So, are you here because of them?” Jie Xi fixed her gaze on Wang Zhi.

“They discovered a base…” Wang Zhi briefly recounted what happened to Duan Qing Tian and the others at the base.

“So you want to lead a team to wipe out that base?” Jie Xi asked.

Wang Zhi was taken aback. He had only briefly mentioned the incident where Duan Qing Tian’s team had been attacked, yet she had already guessed the purpose of his visit.

“Yes, but they’re outnumbered, and the enemy consists of trained soldiers. I want to collaborate with the Dawn Tower to take down the base,” Wang Zhi didn’t deny it and shared his idea.

“Oh? Collaborating with the Dawn Tower?” Jie Xi raised an eyebrow, intrigued as she waited for Wang Zhi to continue.

“Yes. All the spoils of war will belong to the Dawn Tower, and we will be responsible for escorting the survivors back.”

“Mm… Sounds good, but this kind of decision needs to be made by the Tower Master. I’m just a guard,” Jie Xi said.

“Do you think the Tower Master will agree?” Wang Zhi asked tentatively.

“As long as it benefits the Dawn Tower, I think she will agree,” Jie Xi replied.

“Then how do I meet the Tower Master?” Wang Zhi asked.

“I’ll report to the Tower Master. You wait outside,” Jie Xi said.

Wang Zhi left the room and waited outside in the hallway.

After a while, Jie Xi returned to his side. “Let’s go. The Tower Master is expecting us.”

Wang Zhi felt a little nervous as Jie Xi led him to meet the Tower Master.

They reached the elevator, and Jie Xi pressed the button for the 5th floor. Wang Zhi’s heart skipped a beat. The 5th floor was the only place he hadn’t been to, and now he was about to see it.

“Captain Jie Xi, don’t we need to surrender our weapons to meet the Tower Master?” Wang Zhi asked, holding his handgun.

“Heh, do you think the Tower Master would care about these toys?” Jie Xi mocked.

“Toys?”

“Do you think your gun could beat me?” Jie Xi asked, seeing Wang Zhi’s reluctance.

Wang Zhi shook his head and obediently tucked the gun behind him. In front of Jie Xi, his gun indeed seemed like a toy. It wasn’t just a matter of whether it would hit her—he probably wouldn’t even get the chance to raise his hand to fire. If the Tower Master was stronger than Jie Xi, there was really nothing to worry about.

They arrived at the 5th floor, stepped out of the elevator, and Wang Zhi was immediately struck by the grandeur and solemnity of the place.

“This place is huge. Is it just the Tower Master here?” Wang Zhi asked as he looked around at the opulent hall.

“Don’t ask things you shouldn’t,” Jie Xi said sternly.

Jie Xi led Wang Zhi to a door. “Go in. The Tower Master is waiting for you.”

Wang Zhi gulped nervously and pushed the door open. He saw the Tower Master sitting at the table, dressed in full armor and wearing a mask. Why did the Tower Master always wear a mask?

“Greetings, Tower Master.” Wang Zhi snapped back to his senses and bowed slightly.

The Tower Master, sitting at the end of the table, looked Wang Zhi up and down. Wang Zhi stood at the door, momentarily unsure of what to do.

“Uh…” Wang Zhi was about to speak when the Tower Master, sitting across from him, finally spoke.

“Please, sit.”

Wang Zhi walked over and sat across from the Tower Master.

“I heard from Jie Xi that you have a plan to cooperate with the Dawn Tower?”

“Yes. We discovered a base outside made up of forty armed soldiers. The former dynasty lost four team members there, and now Zhang Ming has joined us. I came to request your help in sending some personnel with us to destroy that base.”

“Mm… Go on.”

“The base has over a hundred survivors, ample food, and various resources such as weapons and ammunition. Our team’s main goal is revenge, but saving the survivors is secondary. After eliminating the soldiers, we’ll escort the survivors to the Dawn Tower. Your team will be responsible for escorting the food and supplies,” Wang Zhi explained.

“I have to admit, this plan could bring great value to the Dawn Tower. I have no reason to reject it.”

“Thank you, Tower Master,” Wang Zhi said, delighted that the Tower Master agreed.

“I’ll provide ten people to assist you. I hope you can complete this mission successfully. When your team is ready, go to Adam at the command center. I’ll inform him in advance.”

“Alright, I’ll prepare right away.”

“Mm…”

After receiving the Tower Master’s approval, Wang Zhi left the room. The Tower Master agreed to send ten people to join him in attacking the base, which would bring his team’s total to seventeen, a decent-sized force.

After Wang Zhi left, Jie Xi didn’t follow him but stayed in the room.

“Jie Xi, what do you think?”

“He’s smart,” Jie Xi briefly assessed.

“Yeah, he’s not greedy. Using revenge to unite people is an interesting approach.”

“So, what about this mission…”

“Hmm, pick a few reliable ones and send them to Adam to report.”

“Yes!”

After Jie Xi’s response, she left the 5th floor with Wang Zhi.

Once on the 3rd floor, Wang Zhi gathered everyone.

“Everyone, take a rest. Our first step in cooperating with the Dawn Tower is complete. In the next three days, we’ll prepare to head to the disaster site where Zhang Ming and the others were.”

Wang Zhi sat on the sofa in the living room.

“So soon?” Ying furrowed his brow, clearly unaware that Wang Zhi had already negotiated with the Tower Master alone.

“Yes. The Dawn Tower is providing us with ten people. Before we head out, we’ll just need to ask Captain Adam for more personnel.”

Wang Zhi took out a piece of paper and showed Zhang Ming the layout of the base and its surroundings.

“With the ten extra people, we’ll have a total of seventeen. Taking down this base shouldn’t be a problem. Plus, we have a big guy on our side,” Lao He said confidently, looking at the sniper rifle on the shelf.

“Mm. Everyone, don’t train for the next two days. Stay in good shape. We’ll leave in three days.”

Wang Zhi said, then began studying the map of the base that Zhang Ming had drawn.

The base was located by a river with a mountain at its side. The front was surrounded by a wall, making it a strategically advantageous position. The entire base covered about two hectares, with separate residential areas for survivors and military personnel. Zhang Ming’s team had only been there briefly, so they had limited information about the base.
