After dinner, Wang Zhi and his team suited up and headed to the training ground to continue their drills. Since Wang Zhi’s injuries hadn’t fully healed, he couldn’t participate in any intense activities and could only watch from the sidelines.
Coincidentally, he noticed that Tang Qilin was also watching his team train.
Feeling bored, Wang Zhi approached him and greeted him, “Captain Tang, not training?”
Tang Qilin turned his head slightly to glance at Wang Zhi but said nothing. Instead, he simply turned back to watching the female members of his squad train.
Damn it! Showing off again! Wang Zhi nearly forgot how arrogant Tang Qilin was.
“I heard you guys ran into a mutated python?”
Just as Wang Zhi was about to leave, Tang Qilin spoke up.
“How do you know that?”
“That’s none of your concern. Surviving an encounter with a mutant beast is already an achievement.”
Although Tang Qilin sounded nonchalant, his words suggested that he had personal experience with such creatures. What he didn’t know was that Wang Zhi and his team had only escaped by sacrificing dozens of lives.
“You seem pretty knowledgeable about them?”
“Heh, I know a thing or two.”
“Care to share?” Wang Zhi asked.
“And why should I tell you?” Tang Qilin shot him a glance.
Wang Zhi had no rebuttal—Tang Qilin had no reason to share any information with him. Left with no choice, he turned and walked away.
It was unexpected that Tang Qilin knew about the mutant creatures. From his tone, it sounded like he had firsthand experience with them.
A few hours later, during a break, Wang Zhi decided to take advantage of the discounted weapon prices. He planned to bring the team to buy better weapons, as most of their current gear was already damaged.
Before heading to the weapons hall, Wang Zhi set a rule: Each person’s budget should be kept within 1,000 survival points. You can buy whatever you want, just don’t exceed the limit.
With the rules set, the group headed to the weapons hall. The moment they entered, the staff enthusiastically welcomed them. Wang Zhi’s squad was considered high-value customers—always coming in every few days to purchase ammunition and weapons. If the store had a VIP membership system, his team would definitely qualify.
“The majority of our weapons are currently on discount. What are you looking for today?”
“Go ahead and do your thing. We’ll take a look ourselves and call you when we’re ready to check out,” Wang Zhi dismissed the staff and began browsing the weapon catalog in the system.
After careful selection, the team made their purchases:
“I’ll be damned, Sister Ying! Didn’t we agree on a 1,000 survival point budget per person?” Wang Zhi nearly had a heart attack when he saw the 2,000-point dagger on the order list.
“That’s right. Our team budget is 6,000 survival points. So far, we’ve only spent 3,850. Why are you panicking?” Su Muying looked at him innocently.
“No, but… is this dagger made of gold or something? Why is it so expensive?” Wang Zhi looked at the system order in disbelief.
“This is far more valuable than gold! It’s forged from meteorite iron. Besides, since there’s a sale, we might as well buy good stuff while we can! Look at my Asura—it’s already down to 1,600 points!”
Wang Zhi, seeing that there was no way to argue with this level of reasoning, gave up. Instead of debating with Su Muying, he quickly settled the bill before she could spend more.
After spending 3,850 survival points at the weapons hall, the squad’s remaining balance was 15,650 survival points.
Once they finished shopping, they had another meal before resuming their training.
That night, after showering, Wang Zhi returned to his room—only to find Su Muying and Jia Liuli on his bed, wearing black stockings and playfully wrestling with each other.
The moment Su Muying saw Wang Zhi enter, she teasingly stretched out her leg. “Like what you see?”
“What the—where did you two even get those stockings?” Wang Zhi asked in shock.
“They sell them at the first-floor store! Surprise!” Su Muying laughed.
“Oh great, you two are really trying to get me to commit a crime, huh?”
“Heh, if you dare try anything, Liuli and I will personally take you down!” Su Muying threatened.
Jia Liuli, sitting beside her, nodded in agreement.
“Wait—Liuli, since when did you start siding with her?”
Wang Zhi suddenly felt like he was all alone. Fatty was out of the question for help, and Lao He and Zhang Ming were definitely neutral parties. In a situation like this, neutrality was equivalent to siding with the enemy. They weren’t directly aiding the villains, but their silence made them accomplices.
“Tonight, the two of us are letting you serve us while we wear black stockings. You should feel honored!” Su Muying leaned against the bed, looking down at Wang Zhi with a smug expression.
With no other choice, Wang Zhi held back his inner turmoil and gave them both foot massages for an hour. The moment he finished, he ran to the bathroom and took a cold shower. The icy water doused the fire burning within him, allowing him to finally return to his room and sleep in peace.
