After dinner, the five of them put on their weighted training suits and entered the training ground. As time passed, more and more teams had advanced to the third level. Currently, excluding the “Eternal Doomsday” team, there were already eighteen teams in the third level.
The training ground on the third level was gradually gaining popularity. Physical endurance and agility had always been Wang Zhi’s main training focus. He did not seek explosive power; rather, he needed as much stamina and quick reflexes as possible.
At the same time, Wang Zhi constantly observed the various people in the training ground. Among them, a particular group caught his attention. So far, he had only identified five members, and there should be one more yet to join. Each of the five was tall and strong, almost comparable to Lao He. With such a lineup, they were undoubtedly a formidable team.
Seeing this, Wang Zhi stopped his training movements and walked straight toward that group.
“You guys, may I ask who your team captain is?”
Wang Zhi took the initiative to approach them, greeting them with what he believed to be a friendly smile.
“I am! What’s the matter?”
A man from the group put down the iron block in his hands and walked up to Wang Zhi.
The distance between the two was now less than half a meter, far exceeding the usual safe distance. Unfazed, Wang Zhi slightly raised his head to look at the nearly two-meter-tall giant in front of him.
“Hello! I’m Wang Zhi, captain of the Sunset Twilight team.” As he spoke, he extended his right hand.
The muscular man scrutinized Wang Zhi for a moment before reaching out to shake hands with him.
“I’ve heard of you, but you’re not quite what I expected.” The bulky captain released his grip and said.
“Heh, did you imagine me to be an even more imposing brute?” Wang Zhi chuckled.
“Haha, so what brings you to me?” The big man let out a dry laugh without denying it.
“Nothing much, just wanted to get to know you. I still don’t know your team’s name.” Wang Zhi said as he sat down with the other man.
“Ah, I’m Long Yi, and our team is called the Flying Tigers.”
“Captain Long, huh? Did you guys just arrive on the third level?” Wang Zhi asked.
“Yeah, we just got here two days ago. Our luck was bad. Every time we went out, we barely brought back any supplies. It wasn’t until our third trip that we managed to accumulate enough survival points to reach the third level.” Long Yi said helplessly.
“Heh, as long as you made it back safely, that’s what matters. No amount of supplies is worth more than your lives.”
As Wang Zhi spoke, he observed Long Yi’s expression carefully. He wanted to determine if the Flying Tigers had suffered any casualties. The result was that Long Yi’s demeanor remained normal, showing no signs of distress, meaning their team had yet to experience any losses.
“I heard you guys have already made four trips back, and even encountered mutated creatures. That’s impressive.” Long Yi praised.
Wang Zhi wasn’t surprised that Long Yi knew about his team’s achievements. He was well aware that such news had already spread throughout the third level.
“To be honest, we’re not as strong as the rumors say. It was mostly luck.” Wang Zhi said humbly.
“So, Captain Wang, you really don’t have any other reason for approaching me?” Long Yi asked again, somewhat impatiently.
“Haha, truly nothing else. I just wanted to make acquaintances and build connections. After all, it’s good to have someone to rely on in this place, don’t you think?” Wang Zhi smiled.
“Haha, fair enough. Since Captain Wang has taken the initiative, I have no reason to refuse.” Long Yi laughed and agreed.
“Great. Then I won’t interrupt your training any longer. Our Lingling ID is 0033, feel free to leave us a message if you need anything.”
With that, Wang Zhi didn’t ask for the other party’s ID and simply got up to leave. Since he was the one initiating contact, he wouldn’t be the first to ask for help.
After Wang Zhi left, the friendly smile on Long Yi’s face gradually faded.
“Boss, what was that guy here for?” One of his team members walked over and asked.
“He’s the captain of Sunset Twilight. He came to form an alliance.” Long Yi said indifferently.
“And you agreed?”
“Yeah, we’ll observe their actions first. As long as we don’t suffer any losses, just like he said, it’s good to have mutual support in this place.” Long Yi said as he picked up the iron block again and resumed his training.
On the other side, Wang Zhi continued analyzing the current situation. The outside world was becoming increasingly unpredictable. He firmly believed that before long, Dawn Tower would implement a cooperation system, allowing teams to form temporary alliances for group combat. However, once teams were freed from the constraints of Dawn Tower, internal strife and resource plundering would inevitably follow.
This would be a major turning point. If Dawn Tower truly took this step, Wang Zhi had no choice but to make advance preparations to ensure that such chaos wouldn’t affect him.
After a full day of training, Wang Zhi collapsed onto his bed, completely exhausted. Having taken a few days off, suddenly resuming high-intensity training was tough to handle.
Just as he lay down, Su Muying and Liuli entered, insisting that Wang Zhi give them a massage.
After the massage, Wang Zhi, drained of energy, sprawled on the bed and ended his “sinful” day.
On the seventh day, Wang Zhi dragged his heavy head off the bed. Su Muying and Liuli had already gotten up and left.
Holding his head, he went downstairs to the living room, where Fatty had already bought breakfast. The others were seated, eating.
“Come look, Captain Wang! Dawn Tower has successfully developed a virus antibody vaccine!” Fatty said excitedly.
Upon hearing the news, Wang Zhi quickly stepped forward to check the announcement on Lingling ID.
“The virus antibody vaccine has now been successfully developed. All teams receiving this notification are requested to proceed to the medical room on the first floor for vaccination.
Note: This vaccine has undergone repeated clinical trials and its effectiveness has been confirmed. Please rest assured when getting vaccinated.”
“Not bad! Looks like the medicine we brought back worked.” Wang Zhi remarked as he read the announcement.
“Sigh! If only this virus antibody had been developed earlier, Zhang Ming wouldn’t have had to… just because of a minor arm injury…” Fatty said sadly.
“With the virus antibody, we won’t have to fear getting injured anymore!” Lao He said excitedly.
“Are you all so sure that the vaccine actually works?” Su Muying commented while filing her nails. “Nobody wants to be a test subject. Even if Fatty gets vaccinated, would he dare let a zombie bite him? Even if experiments on animals showed immunity, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s effective for humans.”
“Are you saying that the virus antibody vaccine hasn’t actually been proven effective on humans?” Lao He asked, confused.
“It’s just my speculation. Whether it really works, who knows?” Su Muying said as she turned her gaze to Wang Zhi, waiting for his opinion.
