Chapter 96: Aren’t You Afraid She’ll Feel Insecure?

In the next few days, Wang Zhi successfully completed the design for his chemical protection combat suit.

When he showed the design blueprint, everyone couldn’t help but admire Wang Zhi’s drawing skills. They couldn’t understand why he wasn’t working as a comic artist, as his talent was being wasted elsewhere.

Seeing that no one had any objections, Wang Zhi took the design blueprint to the weapons hall, where he met with a person in charge to discuss the production of the combat suits.

Since there was a design already, the person in charge readily accepted the commission.

Wang Zhi waited in the hall while the person in charge estimated the cost.

The suit’s materials were the same as before. For the gloves, knees, and elbows, Wang Zhi opted for carbon fiber materials. Compared to other metals, carbon fiber composite materials are 80% lighter, yet the hardness is several times that of steel. With such excellent performance, carbon fiber was the obvious choice for the combat suit’s joint armor.

“Sorry to keep you waiting! We’ve estimated the price. The base price is 420 storage points, with an additional 30 for the manufacturing cost. The total comes to 450 storage points,” the person in charge said with a smile.

“Six suits!” Wang Zhi didn’t hesitate and immediately placed his order.

The prices here were non-negotiable. If you could accept it, the work would begin. If not, you’d have to save up more. The 30 storage points for manufacturing fees weren’t expensive, but the base price was.

“By the way, can I apply for a patent for this design?” Wang Zhi asked.

“A patent?” The person in charge seemed puzzled.

“Yes, I’d like to list this suit on your catalog, with a price set at 500 storage points. After deducting the 450 for manufacturing, the remaining 50 points would be transferred to our team’s account. How does that sound?”

“If someone buys your design, that’s fine!” The person in charge paused, then agreed, surprised by this approach. This was the first time he had encountered such a request.

Wang Zhi paid for the six suits, totaling 2700 storage points, and the person in charge began to take precise measurements for each of the six people from head to toe.

On the way back, another explosive piece of news came from the Dawn Tower: yet another third-tier team had encountered a disaster!

Seeing that others were discussing it, Wang Zhi asked Fatty to go find out more.

A while later, Fatty returned, looking somewhat pleased, and said, “It’s the team led by that glasses-wearing, kidney-weak guy. This time, they lost two members while out on a mission.”

“Is it Tang Qilin?” Wang Zhi furrowed his brows.

“Yep, they were all loaded up with rocket launchers and looking all tough, but they still lost two people. Hahaha,” Fatty said, relishing their misfortune.

Wang Zhi had a habit of aiming to be second, not first. For his plan, this accident involving Tang Qilin was actually bad news. He had hoped that Tang Qilin’s team would quickly improve and reach the fourth-tier level, becoming the new leader in the faction. That way, Wang Zhi wouldn’t have to worry about him.

Currently, the teams Wang Zhi was paying attention to among the third-tier groups were Tang Qilin’s team, the Flying Tiger Team with Long Yi, and another special team named the Hidden Dragon team.

The Hidden Dragon team was quite unique because the leader was a woman with a dragon tattoo over her shoulder, and the team members were all men. Due to some special circumstances, Wang Zhi hadn’t taken the initiative to get to know them, but from daily observations during training, he had formed a surface-level opinion.

As for Tang Qilin, although he disliked communication with others, he hadn’t done anything extreme. Moreover, he had been aware of the mutated species situation long before Wang Zhi, which made Wang Zhi think that he wasn’t as simple as he seemed.

For the Flying Tiger team, Long Yi was a key team Wang Zhi had prioritized, as he would definitely consider them first for any future collaboration.

Three days later, the chemical protection combat suits Wang Zhi ordered were finally ready. As soon as Wang Zhi received the suits, he eagerly rushed back to his room and put one on.

The craftsmanship of the Dawn Tower was impressive. No matter the length, fit, or overall design, it was tailored perfectly to each person’s measurements.

Once Wang Zhi finished putting on the suit, he walked out of his room. One by one, the others followed, all dressed in their black combat suits.

Looking at everyone in their suits, Wang Zhi nodded in satisfaction. The finished products met his expectations.

“Liuli, you should eat more. It wouldn’t be good to make a suit like this and not get the benefit,” Wang Zhi said, looking at the slightly shorter Ji Liuli.

“It’s fine, I’ll help her earn it back,” Su Mu Ying, who had just walked out of her room, said proudly, puffing out her chest.

“Sister Ying, aren’t you afraid Liuli will feel insecure?” Wang Zhi asked with some concern.

“Pfft! We’re good sisters. She won’t take it to heart, right, Liuli?” Su Mu Ying gave Wang Zhi an exasperated look before turning around and rubbing Liuli’s chest.

Seeing the two of them fooling around, Wang Zhi didn’t bother to interfere. As everyone’s combat suits fit perfectly and no adjustments were needed, he confirmed the receipt of the suits through Lingling Yao.

After changing back into his heavy-duty gear, Wang Zhi and the team returned to the training ground.

There, Wang Zhi saw the Flying Tiger Team, who had disappeared for a few days, back at the training ground. The number of people was still the same—six.

It seemed the mission they had undertaken wasn’t that difficult, just requiring a lot of time to transport resources.

“Congratulations, Captain Long, on your safe return,” Wang Zhi greeted him.

“Haha, it’s just good luck. We didn’t run into too many zombies,” Long Yi said humbly when he saw it was Wang Zhi.

“How did it go? Did you make a good haul?”

“It’s alright. We brought back half a ton of oil and a bunch of miscellaneous materials.”

“By the way, if I’m not mistaken, Captain Wang, you’ll be going out soon, right?” Long Yi asked.

“Yeah, in just over a week. Time really flies,” Wang Zhi sighed.

“Then I’ll wish you the best of luck with a high-reward mission!” Long Yi said, clasping his fists.

“Don’t! I’d rather take on a safe mission like yours,” Wang Zhi said, raising his palm.

With the current amount of storage points his team had, Wang Zhi was indeed hoping for a simple mission where they could earn a safe 1,000 or 2,000 points. What he least wanted to encounter was mutated species. While they had valuable resources in their heads, facing them would certainly result in casualties.

Wang Zhi would never think it was just bad luck. The truth was that many first-tier, second-tier, and even third-tier teams had encountered mutated species—most of whom didn’t survive. This is why Dawn Tower kept information about them to a minimum.
