Chapter 2
“Found you, Ah Ruan.”
“No, no—don’t—”
The moment the man’s hand pierced through the dimensional barrier and entered the mirrored space, Ah Ruan panicked.
She didn’t have a body; she was just a small ball of light. She didn’t want Qin Wuyu to see her like this!
“Don’t! Don’t look at me, please!”
[Warning: Soft Girl System Space 001 has been breached. Mission failed. Returning to the main space.]
“Boom!”
Qin Wuyu’s darkened invasion caused the system space to shatter like a mirror, disintegrating in an instant.
Ah Ruan was thrown out, and when she woke up again, she was already back in the dark main space.
[Ah Ruan, you’ve failed your mission.]
The voice of the system’s main god echoed from the void, making the small ball of light tremble.
[Host, host….. lord, what happened to the host?]
[The body that traversed the worlds has perished. The consciousness has returned to the original body.]
“Thank goodness… the host is safe…”
The light ball flickered, its voice full of infinite disappointment.
[Ah Ruan, the last world has completely collapsed! As punishment, you must complete the remaining tasks in the smaller worlds in place of the host.]
“I understand, lord… but without a body, how can I replace the host…?”
A beam of starlight descended in the main space, enveloping Ah Ruan’s light ball. After the starlight faded, Ah Ruan was astonished to find that she had a “body”!
Her new form was that of a young girl with a slender waist, bright eyes, and radiant skin that gleamed like porcelain. When she smiled, a tiny dimple appeared at the corner of her mouth.
Ah Ruan was overjoyed. “Is this… me?”
[Ah Ruan, from now on, you will use this body to enter the smaller worlds. If you successfully complete all the missions, the body will be yours permanently.]
“Thank you, my lord!”
Ah Ruan’s eyes reddened as she closed them, hugging herself with her new arms, feeling the warmth of her body… She would treasure this body with all her heart.
“lord, there’s one more thing…”
Thinking about Qin Wuyu, the male lead from the collapsed world, made Ah Ruan’s heart tremble.
“Qin Wuyu saw through the system space in the end, and he almost caught me… why did that happen?”
The Main God was silent for a couple of seconds, then finally sighed, advising Ah Ruan to forget about the last world.
Ah Ruan obediently nodded, trying hard to forget Qin Wuyu, but for some reason, she felt an emptiness in her heart…
[Ah Ruan, you are the system yourself. I’ve kept some of your abilities intact and won’t give you another system.]
[You will start by conquering the simplest world. Remember, you can’t let the world collapse again!]
“I understand, Lord.”
The voice gradually faded, and a bright light flashed before Ah Ruan’s eyes.
When she opened them again, countless shadowy figures slowly became solid, passing by her one after another. Then various sounds flooded her ears: talking, ringing, and the crisp chirping of birds…
Ah Ruan closed her eyes and took a deep breath, filling her lungs with the fresh air.
Having her own body felt so amazing!
She took a moment to adjust, then quickly sorted through the information of this new world.
Her name was Su Ruan Ruan, a student at an elite school in the capital. Despite coming from a modest family, her exceptional talent in dance had earned her a place at this prestigious institution.
Her target was Bai Yuhang, the school’s most popular figure—wealthy, handsome, and a notorious bad boy. With his cold, handsome face and tall, muscular frame, including a set of abs that drove countless girls wild, he was practically a walking embodiment of hormones.
A soft and delicate girl paired with a cold, domineering bad boy—sparks should fly easily, right?
Just as Ah Ruan was thinking this, she heard voices coming from a distance ahead…
Just around the corner, a few tall figures came into view, laughing loudly. Ah Ruan faintly heard the name “Bai Yuhang.”
Her target had appeared!
Ah Ruan hurried forward, but when she saw what they were doing, she was dumbfounded—
The boy bully was leading a group, and it seemed like… they were about to get into a fight!
“Hey! You blind or something? Did you apologize to Young Master Bai after bumping into him?”
A tall, skinny guy, the school bully’s sidekick, shoved a girl who looked like she was about to cry.
“Spilling water on someone? Such a tired old trick! If we don’t teach you a lesson, our Young Master Bai will have to change his pants every day because of your clumsy actions!”
Hearing Bai Yuhang’s annoyed cough, the sidekick quickly corrected himself, “Ah, I mean, change clothes… Anyway, kneel down and apologize!”
The girl, full of shame and embarrassment, trembled, unable to speak… until she caught sight of a familiar figure. It was as if she’d found a lifeline, and she shouted desperately—
“Ah Ruan, help me!”
Ah Ruan: …
Several sharp gazes shot toward her, but the most striking one belonged to Bai Yuhang.
With his hands stuffed in his pockets, he stood there with a cold, handsome face. His deep, dark eyes made him look fierce and intimidating.
Ah Ruan… her legs gave way.
Oh no, help! I’ve never been in such a terrifying situation before!
“Heh, another one’s here!”
The first sidekick sneered, “What? You here to cause trouble for Young Master Bai too?”
Sidekick #2 chimed in, “Next, are you going to stand on the moral high ground and lecture us about bullying people? Let me tell you, we’ve seen that act plenty of times!”
Ah Ruan: … How much have you guys been through?!
This is bad. You’ve already said everything I was going to say!
“Uh… no fighting, okay? Fighting is bad…”
Forcing herself to speak, Ah Ruan stepped forward, recognizing the girl being surrounded as her roommate, Li Nuonuo, from the dance department.
Based on what she knew of Li Nuonuo, this clumsy girl had probably bumped into them by accident…
“Heh, we’re only asking her to apologize, but you make it sound like we’re about to hit someone?”
Sidekick #1 pulled out a baseball bat from behind him like a magician.
“We can’t let this go without hitting her at least once, right?”
Ah Ruan gasped and, determined to avoid trouble, quickly pulled Li Nuonuo along to apologize sincerely—
“We’re sorry! So sorry! We didn’t mean to! We definitely don’t have any interest in Young Master Bai—wait, no, I mean, not that we don’t have interest, ah no, that’s not right either, it’s… it’s…”
Her face flushed red with embarrassment. On her first day in this world, she was already facing a public humiliation crisis, and she really wanted to disappear on the spot!
The onlookers watched the drama unfold, amused. The more flustered Ah Ruan became, the harder it was for her to speak, her pretty face turning bright red.
Just then, a cool male voice cut through the crowd—
“Ah Ruan… is your name Ah Ruan?”
In the back of the crowd, Fu Wensheng, who had been casually watching while sitting on a flowerbed, closed his book and stood up slowly.
“Ah Ruan…” His sharp, upward-arching brows and slightly teasing almond-shaped eyes locked onto her.
His thin lips curved into a slight smile, and his light brown eyes glimmered as he glanced up and down at Ah Ruan.
“What’s soft about you?”
His words had a double meaning, causing the crowd to burst into laughter. Ah Ruan’s face reddened even more, and she hurried to explain.
“No, it’s not like that! It’s from the ancient musical instrument, the “Ruan”! Not ‘soft’ as in weak or delicate!”
“Oh, so it’s that “Ruan”…”
