Chapter 37
Su Qianqian went out to buy some things. She needed to take advantage of this time to save more money.
Lin Xuemei found her.
“Qianqian!”
“Xuemei, wow, you look great lately!” Lin Xuemei’s skin was visibly clearer, with many fewer spots on her face. From a distance, it was hard to even see the spots.
“Really? Everyone’s been saying that! My vanishing cream ran out. Do you have any left? I’ll buy it from you! This stuff is amazing!”
Lin Xuemei had seen the results and was eager to get more. Anyone who saw her was surprised by her improved appearance and skin, even her husband had noticed the difference—she really had become more beautiful.
“I have some. Come on, I’ll go get it at home.”
Once they arrived at her house, Su Qianqian handed her a box.
“Is this all? Don’t you have more? Money’s not an issue!” For her, this was priceless; she had tried many other methods before, but none of them worked, and she had spent a lot of money on ineffective treatments.
Fortunately, Su Qianqian had prepared ahead of time and pulled out three boxes. “This is all I have for now, but three boxes should last a while.”
“Okay, here’s the deal—once you make more, give me some first.” Lin Xuemei didn’t want Su Qianqian to sell it to others, leaving her without any.
Su Qianqian smiled and didn’t mind. The current supply was limited, so it was fine to prioritize Lin Xuemei. “For the three boxes, I’ll need to charge you 150. Is that okay?”
The healing essence inside was priceless, so 150 wasn’t really expensive.
“No problem, no problem,” Lin Xuemei immediately took out the money, looking pleased. “Also, give me some food.”
Su Qianqian packed two bottles of pickled cucumbers, one bottle of pickled chili peppers, and a serving of pickled chicken feet.
“This is something new I made—pickled chicken feet. Want to try?” She opened the lid for Lin Xuemei to smell. “It smells really good, right? You’ll want some!”
Lin Xuemei laughed. Su Qianqian found her customer adorable—she was a food lover, generous, and enthusiastic.
“Chicken feet are hard to come by, so they’re a little more expensive. This portion costs 15,” Su Qianqian said. In this era, chicken feet weren’t as easy to get as they are today, and the scarcity made them more valuable.
“Sure!”
Lin Xuemei cheerfully took out the money, and Su Qianqian smiled as she received it.
From just Lin Xuemei, Su Qianqian made 175, feeling quite pleased with herself!
…
Cheng Yue went to his superior’s office to submit the divorce application.
“What? You want a divorce?” Captain Yao was surprised. “Why do you want a divorce out of the blue?”
“I don’t have any feelings for Su Qianqian. She attached herself to me back then, and she has a bad reputation in Tianshui Village. She has already agreed to the divorce,” Cheng Yue explained.
“What about the time she’s taken care of you?”
He had heard that Su Qianqian had taken good care of Cheng Yue, otherwise, he wouldn’t have recovered so quickly. They had also invited people from the compound for a meal and no one had mentioned any problems.
“She took good care of me, but what happened before can’t be erased. Plus, we haven’t seen each other in five years. It’s really hard to continue as a couple now.”
Captain Yao thought for a moment. “In that case… we’ll need to review things carefully.”
After leaving the office, Cheng Yue ran into Cheng Yuan.
“Captain, what’s wrong? You look a bit down. Wait, can you walk now? And you’re walking pretty well.”
“Yes, I’ve recovered well. I’m going to the hospital for a checkup later.”
“I just happen to be free right now. I’ll accompany you to the hospital.”
Cheng Yuan noticed that Cheng Yue was walking without any issues now. It was really amazing. If no one knew better, they might have thought Cheng Yue had never been injured.
“Captain, any chance I could come over for dinner tonight? I’ve really been craving Sister-in-law’s cooking.” It had been a long time since he’d had it, and his appetite was getting the better of him.
“She might not be making dinner.”
“Huh? Right, cooking every day is exhausting. Guess I’ll just have to forget it.” Cheng Yuan sighed. “But after getting used to Sister-in-law’s cooking, Captain, can you still eat the food at the canteen?”
He never thought the canteen food was bad before, but now, it was truly unappetizing. As they say, a mountain pig can’t get used to fine food, otherwise, it’s just too painful.
Cheng Yue thought about the divorce. If it really happened, he would never again eat the meals Su Qianqian made, and suddenly, he wanted to go back to the team leader’s office to withdraw the divorce application.
At the hospital, the doctor examined Cheng Yue, and his expression could only be described as “shocked.”
“Captain Cheng, are you human?”
“Doctor, are you insulting people now? Our Captain Cheng is obviously human!” Cheng Yuan spoke up for his brother.
“No, I’m amazed by Captain Cheng’s recovery. Honestly, when others are injured this severely, if they’re able to walk normally after a year or two of recovery, that’s already impressive. But Captain Cheng, after just one month, is already walking normally. At this rate, he’ll recover fully to his previous state.”
They had been worried that Cheng Yue might end up with a permanent limp, but now, they no longer had that concern.
“That’s great!” Cheng Yuan was also very happy for Cheng Yue.
On the way home, Cheng Yuan sighed. “Looks like Sister-in-law has really taken good care of you. I never expected that the old Su Qianqian would turn into this virtuous woman.”
“Don’t you think she’s faking it?” Cheng Yue asked.
“Faking it? Sure, she could fake it for a few days, but faking it for this long? Not likely. Plus, even if she were faking it, it would show if she got desperate. And why would she fake it?”
“To…”
Cheng Yue realized he couldn’t find a reason for Su Qianqian to pretend.
“If you’re worried, just observe her more. If she can fake it forever, fine by me. She can fake anything, but cooking? She can’t fake that.”
As they spoke, they arrived at the residential building. As they went upstairs, they saw Su Qianqian and Wu Sufen standing in the hallway.
“Qianqian, I’m so sorry. I didn’t buy the vanishing cream, so I’ll have to use yours.”
“It’s fine, Sufen. You could buy some vanishing cream too, it’s not expensive.”
“Thirty or so? Not cheap? Never mind, just take these two melons. They’re really sweet, I grew them myself.”
“Thanks.”
When Wu Sufen saw Cheng Yue, she greeted him. “Captain Cheng, you’re back?”
Su Qianqian turned and saw them both. She greeted Cheng Yuan, “Cheng Yuan, long time no see. Are you staying for dinner?”
Cheng Yuan’s eyes lit up, and he immediately agreed.
Cheng Yue: ?? She didn’t even look at me!
Back at home, Su Qianqian went straight into the kitchen, as she had bought more ingredients.
“I’ll go pick up the kids today.”
“Mhm.”
However, shortly after, there was a loud knocking at the door. “Mom, open the door! Mom!”
Su Qianqian immediately ran to open the door and found Sanya standing there, her hair in a mess.
“Sanya, what happened?”
“Mom, hurry! sister sister’s head is bleeding, and brother got into a fight with someone!”
Su Qianqian immediately picked up Sanya and rushed downstairs. Cheng Yue heard and quickly followed, and when he ran too fast, his leg hurt, but he didn’t care about that.
At the kindergarten, they were told that Daya and Erbao had been taken to the hospital.
They hurried to the hospital.
They saw Daya right away, with a large cut on her head, and it was still bleeding.
