Chapter 51: The Old Lady Is Most Likely in Grave Danger…
The Qin family was the wealthiest in China. It was inevitable that they had enemies or people jealous of them, but their security system wasn’t just for show either.
How could there be such a large pool of blood?
Could it have been an inside job? Was there a traitor in the Qin family?
At that thought, Qin Haishan’s heart nearly leapt out of his chest. He instinctively grabbed a gilded porcelain vase from the wall cabinet for self-defense and shouted loudly, “Someone! Where is everyone? Where did they all go?!”
Even if there was a mole, the Qin family’s bodyguards—both inside and outside—weren’t just there to look good.
After shouting, Qin Haishan looked down and caught a glimpse of Yang Chun trembling uncontrollably behind him. He lowered his voice with a worried expression and said, “Go check on Mom quickly, see how she’s doing! We’re young, so we might be fine, but the old lady is elderly—she could be in danger…”
Qin He lazily stretched as he came down from upstairs. With half-closed eyes, he saw his parents huddled by the wall. His father was even holding a large porcelain vase like he was ready to fight someone. Then he heard the words: “We’re young, so we might be fine, but the old lady is elderly—she could be in danger.”
He couldn’t help but laugh. Just as he was about to speak, he saw his father raise the vase and aim it at his head!
“!!”
Qin He’s heart jumped. Luckily, he reacted fast and grabbed his father’s raised hands. “Dad, I just got up a bit late, that’s not a crime punishable by death, right?”
If he hadn’t moved quickly, his own father would’ve smashed his head open. The urn he bought for Grandma would’ve been used for him instead.
Seeing that it was his own son, Qin Haishan relaxed slightly and scolded lightly, “Why didn’t you say anything? I thought you were the murderer!”
You couldn’t blame Qin Haishan for reacting quickly—in a crisis like this, staying alive was the priority. A moment of hesitation could mean death!
“Murderer?!” Qin He froze for a moment and quickly looked around, alert. “What murderer?”
Qin Haishan pointed his chin toward the floor where the blood was and his heart tensed up again. “The crime scene.”
Only then did Qin He notice the large splatters of fresh blood not far ahead. It was a substantial amount, and judging from it, it looked like it had been caused by a ruptured artery. If nothing went wrong, that person should’ve already reported to the King of Hell by now.
Qin He’s expression turned grim as he scanned the surroundings cautiously. At that moment, Qin Haishan continued speaking to him: “Go check Grandma’s room and protect her. Listen for my instructions later and be ready to help her escape at any time. Her legs aren’t very good—if necessary, carry her and run…”
As Qin He listened, he suddenly interrupted, “Dad, I think your concern is a bit unnecessary. Judging by Grandma’s current condition, she might run faster than you.”
“……”
Qin Haishan had momentarily forgotten how spry the old lady was—practically as vigorous as a young person!
Qin Haishan said, “Fine, then hurry up and go check!”
“Okay.” Qin He responded and turned to carefully head upstairs. After all, he wasn’t sure if the killer was still in the house.
Seeing Qin He leave, Qin Haishan immediately frowned. “This isn’t good. This is really bad!”
Yang Chun’s shoulders trembled, tears almost spilling out from fear. She tried her best to hold them back, afraid of attracting attention. She choked out a whisper, “Wh-what’s wrong, honey?”
“I just called out, and no one answered at all.”
Yang Chun thought about it and felt her heart tremble. Her eyes filled with terror. “You mean… all our bodyguards might have been wiped out?”
Qin Haishan nodded heavily, his expression grim. He didn’t want to admit it either, but given the current situation, he couldn’t imagine a better outcome.
Yang Chun panicked. “Then what do we do? Are there a lot of them?”
Qin Haishan analyzed seriously, “It’s probably an inside-outside coordinated attack. We might already be surrounded. They’re just waiting for us to show ourselves and surrender.”
Yang Chun said, “How about we give them the money and the brain chips? We don’t want anything—better to live and fight another day. As long as our family survives, that’s better than anything. We can always make a comeback.”
A glint of cunning flashed in Qin Haishan’s eyes. After a moment, he reassured Yang Chun, “Don’t panic. Big Brother and Third Brother are abroad. We just need to buy some time. I’ll contact them now and have them send people to save us.”
Just as he finished speaking, a rush of footsteps came from upstairs. Qin He’s voice rang out, “Dad! Grandma’s not in her room!”
“!!”
Qin Haishan’s heart sank. “Are you sure?”
Qin He replied nervously, “I’m sure! I searched the room several times—Grandma’s not there!”
Qin Haishan and Yang Chun froze. A chill ran down their spines. The two exchanged a glance, thinking the same thing: It’s over. This attack is targeting the old lady!
Looking again at the blood on the floor, the old lady was most likely in grave danger…
Qin Haishan’s nose turned sore, and he choked up, shouting, “Mom! Mom! Mom!”
He was ready to fight to the death with whoever was out there!!
“Hey!”
Qin Haishan: “…?!”
Wait a second—who just answered him?!
Qin Haishan quickly turned toward the voice and was stunned at the sight.
Lin Qingqing stood there, holding a kitchen knife in one hand. Bright red blood dripped steadily from the blade. Blood had also splattered all over her clothes and face. But her expression was calm—like a terrifying killer.
Seeing that Lin Qingqing was unharmed, Qin Haishan quickly rushed over and asked worriedly, “Mom! What happened to you? And this room… What’s going on here?”
“Nothing, just dealt with a small problem,” Lin Qingqing replied casually, wiping her face with her sleeve.
But the way she wiped only made the blood smear worse, creating an even more disturbing image.
She had been busy outside when she suddenly heard people yelling inside. She walked in and then heard someone crying and shouting “Mom!” She immediately frowned.
That crying sounded like she had already died and was being mourned by a heartbroken son.
Qin Haishan stared at Lin Qingqing, repeating in disbelief, “You… dealt with a small problem? You handled it all by yourself?”
Lin Qingqing nodded. “Yeah.”
“!!!”
[System: Congratulations, host, for earning 30 Surprise Points. You can now become 3 years younger. Current physical condition: 29 years old.]
Lin Qingqing: “???”
She hadn’t even done much—how did she gain Surprise Points?
Was there something wrong with the system? Or with Qin Haishan’s whole family?
Qin He asked with concern, “Grandma, are you okay?”
Lin Qingqing looked at Qin Haishan’s anxious family, completely puzzled. “What could possibly be wrong with me?”
Qin Haishan asked again, “What about those people?”
Lin Qingqing answered honestly, “They’re all outside.”
She added, “In the backyard.”
After all, the house was big. Just saying “outside” was too vague—hard to locate them otherwise.
