Chapter 17 – Is the Old Lady Still Alive?
In the video, the elderly woman stood at the edge of the bungee jumping platform—one step forward and she would plunge from the sky.
Even though she was strapped in with a safety harness, it looked anything but safe. The scene was chilling.
Qin He’s heart jumped into his throat.
Then, right before his eyes, the old lady leapt off the platform with a sharp whoosh!
That decisiveness, without a hint of hesitation, was as if she had no more attachments to this world.
Qin He nearly stopped breathing!
Clearly, it was the old lady who was bungee jumping, yet he was the one on the verge of passing out.
The video was short—only seven seconds long. It ended right after showing the white-haired old lady jumping off, with no follow-up.
Was the old lady out of her mind?
No, wait!
The most important question now was—is the old lady still alive?
Qin He quickly sent a message in the group chat:
“Where’s my grandma? Are you a staff member? I’m her grandson. Where is her body right now?”
Lin Qingqing looked at the message her precious grandson sent, her wrinkled face filled with mixed emotions.
She had expected her family to be shocked, but not this shocked. They were already talking about her body!
Lin Qingqing replied:
“I am your grandma. I’m still alive. Surprised?”
[System: Congratulations, Host! You’ve earned 30 surprise points. You may now de-age by 3 years. Current physical age: 57.]
Qin He: “!!!”
Qin He: “@Qin Haishan @Yang Chun, Mom, Dad! I told you Grandma would definitely go do it! You didn’t believe me. Look!”
After sending the message, Lin Qingqing put her phone back into her bag.
Right now, all she cared about was collecting surprise points. As for the rest, she didn’t want to waste energy on it. She just wanted to become more beautiful—so she could match her identity as the richest woman and truly enjoy life!
She put her phone away and turned to Chen Jingfen, who was still a bit dazed by the shock. Lin Qingqing smiled and said,
“Sis, I was the one bungee jumping, not you. Why do you look like you’ve lost your soul?”
Chen Jingfen asked in astonishment,
“You—how did you do it?”
Lin Qingqing waved her hand nonchalantly and said,
“It’s nothing hard. Just need a healthy body, that’s all.”
A trace of jealousy flashed through Chen Jingfen’s eyes.
This Old Madam Lin was already rich, and her husband had the decency to die early.
Living to 80 was already impressive, but what’s more—her body was still this strong and sturdy!
Comparing herself to others was infuriating!
Chen Jingfen was nearly overwhelmed with envy.
But thankfully, she was ten years younger than Lin Qingqing and still looked youthful and pretty. That gave her some comfort.
Still curious, she asked,
“Have you been taking any special supplements lately behind my back? If you have something good, why aren’t you sharing it with your bestie? That’s really not cool of you!”
A meaningful smile lifted the corners of Lin Qingqing’s mouth.
“Wanna know?”
Of course, Chen Jingfen wanted to know! At their age, staying healthy was the top concern. They were all terrified of death. She nodded eagerly.
“Yes!”
Lin Qingqing glanced around, then leaned in mysteriously and whispered,
“I’ll tell you, but you have to promise to keep it a secret.”
“Sister Lin, don’t worry. I swear I won’t tell anyone!”
“The other day, I went to a bar to look for male models. I even posted on my Moments—you probably saw it. If you want to stay healthy, you need to feast your eyes on young, handsome men—especially the ones with abs. It’ll absolutely keep you both mentally and physically rejuvenated!”
Chen Jingfen stared at Lin Qingqing in disbelief.
“Huh? That sounds suspiciously like… yin-harvesting techniques?”
Lin Qingqing immediately turned serious.
“That’s not what I meant! Anyway, if you want to still be bungee jumping at 80 like I am, you should give it a try. But just to be clear, there’s probably only one 80-year-old in the entire world who can bungee jump, and that’s me. I’m telling you this secret just between us—don’t go around telling others, or people will think I’m some shameless old lady.”
She said it so earnestly, it sounded entirely believable. Chen Jingfen, sitting there like an elderly woman in front of a TV sales program being swayed by overhyped health products due to her survival instincts, was completely hooked.
“Alright, I won’t tell anyone!” Chen Jingfen promised.
“If it’s not convenient for you, you can come to my house. We often hold big party events.”
All jealousy now forgotten, Chen Jingfen looked at Lin Qingqing with heartfelt gratitude.
“Sister Lin, you’re really the best!”
After all, who wouldn’t feel happy looking at handsome young men? It sure beat seeing that ugly old man at home!
Lin Qingqing smiled.
“That’s what besties are for!”
Since Chen Jingfen had constantly been throwing passive-aggressive shade at the original Lin Qingqing when she was alive—pushing her into bad investments, and even kicking the Qin family while they were down after her death—it was only fair to be a little unkind in return.
After setting up their next meetup, the two strolled through the scenic area a bit more. Then, using the excuse of having things to do, Lin Qingqing headed home first.
She needed to carefully consider how to collect more surprise points next.
But before that, she had one more important matter to handle—
That was to ask her eldest grandson, Qin Yansen, about the situation on his end.
Qin He had already explained the trouble at Qin Jingshu’s new company, so the misunderstanding between him and Qin Jingshu should be resolved. With that, Qin Jingshu likely wouldn’t remain so distant toward the Qin family anymore. So when Qin Yansen invited Qin Jingshu to join the Qin Group, he shouldn’t be met with resistance.
Lin Qingqing finished her calculations and gave Qin Yansen a call to confirm if things had gone as she expected.
Unexpectedly, as soon as Qin Yansen heard her mention Qin Jingshu, his voice turned icy.
“I invited him to join Qin Group, but he refused. Grandma, from now on, anything related to him is your responsibility. I can’t deal with it anymore.”
From his tone, it was obvious—the two brothers had fallen out again.
Lin Qingqing hung up and tried calling Qin Jingshu, but he didn’t pick up.
What’s wrong with this brat?
She’d made such a grand entrance last time with Qin He to help clean up his mess. Why did he still seem to be spiraling into villain mode?
She quickly had the driver turn around and head straight to Qin Jingshu’s new company.
Her last visit had been so impactful—with tattoos and all—that the security guards and front desk still had a deep impression of her. It was hard to forget. So this time, Lin Qingqing didn’t even need to identify herself. The receptionist immediately contacted Qin Jingshu.
Hearing his cold voice over the phone, the receptionist looked nervously at the white-haired lady in front of her and said cautiously,
“Ma’am, President Qin says you should head home and rest. He has important business to attend to.”
Important business?
Her title as the richest woman was already hanging by a thread. What could possibly be more important than that?
And with her intuition, she was sure—Qin Jingshu just didn’t want to see her.
Lin Qingqing said seriously,
“Tell him that if he doesn’t come out to see me today, I’ll sit outside his company and accuse him of elder abuse.”
In the president’s office.
Qin Jingshu looked at the elderly lady sitting on the sofa. Her tattoos were gone—he had no idea what method she used to get rid of them.
Without any emotion, he asked,
“Grandma, why are you here? What do you want to talk about?”
Lin Qingqing took out the chicken soup that her maid had rushed to prepare and placed it on the table, her face beaming with loving warmth.
“Can’t a grandma come visit her grandson without a reason?”
