Chapter 33 – The Old Lady Is Really Tough!
Chen Zhonglun liked the fairy type.
And it had to be all-natural—no artificial enhancements—for such a pure fairy to be worthy of him, the young master wrapped in gold.
Young Master Chen sat with one leg crossed over the other, his mind wandering as he imagined what his little fairy might look like. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t picture her specific features.
Because to this day, he had yet to meet a girl beautiful enough to make his heart flutter. So it was difficult for him to imagine a truly stunning face for his little fairy.
But it didn’t matter.
Not being able to picture her made her feel even more mysterious—more worth looking forward to!
Chen Zhonglun snapped out of his thoughts and looked at Chen Jiujié, then said, “Besides, I’m still young. I’m in no rush to date. I want to wait until I meet a fairy I really like. When that day comes, I’ll definitely bring her home for you all to see!
So stop paying attention to all that tabloid gossip. It’s all fake.”
Chen Jiujié nodded without saying much. He was just in a good mood and had asked casually.
After a moment of silence, Chen Zhonglun spoke with heartfelt seriousness: “Dad, did you see what happened to Grandpa? So please, whatever you do, don’t get me a stepmom. One cheated, then the next one cheated, and I don’t have enough face left to lose!”
Chen Jiujié shot a look at Chen Zhonglun’s loose tongue and said in a deep voice, “You really lack discipline!”
But Chen Zhonglun wasn’t afraid of his father getting angry. He shrugged, completely indifferent. “Anyway, even if you beat me to death, I’ll never agree to you getting a woman!”
Chen Jiujié massaged his temples, too furious to speak.
The car fell into silence.
At that moment, Chen Zhonglun suddenly remembered that he’d be seeing that color-haired old lady again tomorrow.
That ugly old lady was way too arrogant. He had to come up with a way to teach her a lesson—to show her that not just anyone could offend Young Master Chen!
…
Lin Qingqing lay down in her room for a while, then suddenly remembered that all her family members at home had already seen her colorful hair.
So there was probably no point in wearing the wig anymore.
She took the wig off and had the driver take her to dye her hair black the next morning.
Black hair wouldn’t raise suspicion. If anyone said she looked young, she could just claim it was thanks to advanced cosmetic technology—perfect!
After dyeing her hair and returning home, Lin Qingqing was surprised to see Qin Jingshu’s figure.
Her emotional chicken soup tactic had worked!
She quickly walked up to him, eyes shining with excitement. “Are you moving back in starting today?”
Qin Jingshu’s gaze fell on the freshly dyed hair. His eyes carried a faint smile, and in a tone like coaxing a child, he said, “Grandma, your hair color looks really nice this time.”
Lin Qingqing was overjoyed at the compliment.
After all, who doesn’t like being praised and pampered?
She even got up and looked at herself in the mirror that night. At forty-nine, she wasn’t exactly young, but her skin was no longer as loose, her age spots had faded, and her overall features looked much more refined and pleasant.
Then… she stared closely at her forty-nine-year-old face and felt a growing sense of familiarity.
She wasn’t sure if it was just her imagination, but it felt like the original owner of this body looked quite a lot like her.
Maybe she really needed to go look at some photos of the original owner from her younger years.
Lin Qingqing smiled and said, “You really know how to sweet-talk. When I get a chance, I’ll introduce you to a girlfriend!”
Qin Jingshu lowered his eyes, his expression unreadable. “Better not. I’m fine being alone. I don’t want to deal with other people.”
He didn’t look forward to love, and he certainly didn’t want to date or marry.
He didn’t want his future life to end up like his parents’, full of arguments and completely meaningless.
Lin Qingqing noticed something off about his mood and didn’t press the subject. She hated being nagged about marriage too, so she wasn’t going to be that kind of annoying elder. If he disagreed, she’d drop it.
Life’s most important thing was being happy.
Lin Qingqing’s lips curved into a smile. “Alright. Grandma respects your decision. As long as you’re happy, nothing else matters!”
The tension in Qin Jingshu’s brow eased. He clearly felt less pressure. A moment ago, he had been worried the old lady might say she wanted to see four generations living under one roof, then start urging him to hurry up and get married and have kids.
If that had happened, he really wouldn’t have known what to do.
He didn’t want to get married, but he couldn’t bear to let Grandma pass away with regrets.
Lin Qingqing changed the topic and asked, “By the way, did you report to your eldest brother?”
“I did.”
“That’s good.”
Qin Jingshu was young, but he was efficient.
At this rate, she’d be securing her position as the wealthiest in no time!
After settling Qin Jingshu at home, Lin Qingqing quickly took her colorful wig and left.
She still had a competition to attend today.
At the competition venue.
Chen Zhonglun saw that colorful-haired old lady again, and his eyes were filled with obvious disgust.
He watched her sitting there without a care in the world, waiting for the competition to start. He couldn’t stand it and provoked her, “You dyed your hair like that, doesn’t your grandson care?”
Lin Qingqing gave him a glance, then rolled her eyes and ignored him.
Whether her grandson cared or not had nothing to do with this annoying brat.
She had zero interest in talking to this little punk!
Chen Zhonglun clicked his tongue and gritted his teeth with a fake smile.
The little old lady really held a grudge!
He was determined to make that annoying old hag quit the competition today!
Today’s elimination round required contestants to choose one judge to partner with.
The judge would help the contestant choreograph a dance, and they’d work together to create an original piece.
Chen Zhonglun figured this was the perfect opportunity to get rid of the old lady.
He shot her a sinister look, then declared without hesitation, “I want to partner with Granny Lin… After watching her performance yesterday, I was totally won over. I admire her so much now, I really want to work with her.”
Since Young Master Chen had made his choice, the staff had no choice but to go along.
In the practice room.
Lin Qingqing looked at Chen Zhonglun, who was lounging on the sofa with one leg crossed, staring at his phone without even looking up, completely acting like a boss. She was speechless.
Partnering with this brat? He was definitely going to wear her poor old bones out!
Chen Zhonglun knew she had come in, but acted like he didn’t notice.
Hadn’t the old lady just been putting on airs, rolling her eyes at him, and ignoring him?
Sure, the old lady had some dance foundation, but choreographing a routine required a ton of inspiration, strong creativity, and a sharp understanding of trends and style.
Those three things? Ha! An eighty-year-old like her couldn’t possibly have any of them.
She didn’t want to talk to him? Fine. He wouldn’t talk to her either!
He wanted to see how long she could keep up her tough act.
He was going to make her beg him for help choreographing!
He was going to get back every bit of yesterday’s humiliation and that eye-roll from earlier!
But ten minutes passed, and the old lady still hadn’t said a word to him. In fact, out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a figure dancing non-stop in front of him.
He looked up.
The old lady was seriously tough. She had already started dancing on her own—she was treating him like air!
Chen Zhonglun watched her dance for a while until she stopped and entered a meditative pose. He chuckled and said in a mocking tone, “If you can’t choreograph anything, just say so. Say a few nice words, and maybe I’ll help you out.”
He saw the old lady turn around when she heard his voice.
Originally, he thought she was going to ask for help. Who knew she would calmly say, “If you could, I’d like you to leave. This is my practice room now.”
