Chapter 13
“Mummy!”
Mu Yan, sharp-eyed, spotted Su Qing approaching from afar. He wriggled out of Mu Yao’s arms and quickly ran up to her. “Mummy, I have something to show you! Hurry, hurry, come to the room with me!”
He was eager to tell Su Qing everything he had overheard in the room.
Su Qing saw the mischievous glint in Mu Yan’s eyes and assumed he was just putting on another act.
She frowned, thinking it was best to keep her distance—who knew what kind of trouble he might stir up this time.
She brushed past Mu Yan and walked straight up to Mu Yao. “We’re going to the hospital for tests this afternoon. Are you coming or not?”
Mu Yan felt disappointed seeing Su Qing ignore him. This time, he genuinely wanted to tell her something important.
Su Qing glanced at Ye Yun but didn’t notice that Ye Yun was wearing one of her dresses.
Just before leaving the house earlier, Su Qing had thought: a week is too long. If she didn’t get rid of the troublesome Ye Yun soon, it would be difficult to stay in this place any longer.
In other stories, people who transmigrate into novels suppress the evil supporting characters quickly and then live the good life. But what about her? She wasn’t a saint—why should she keep showing mercy over and over again?
And since Mu Yao happened to be home today, it was the perfect chance to expose Ye Yun’s true colors right in front of him!
When Mu Yao heard they were going to the hospital for tests, he was reminded of the unresolved tension between them.
He thought he could ignore it, but every time he pictured Su Qing lying there naked, it still pained him—so much so that he had moved to another room, just to avoid thinking about it.
However, over the past few days, the impression Su Qing had left on him started to shift. Even Yan’er’s attitude toward her had completely changed—he clung to her constantly now. That made Mu Yao momentarily forget about everything else.
But now, hearing her mention the tests again, fear crept back in. He even considered finding an excuse to delay it.
What if the results proved she was telling the truth? How would he face her then?
And what if the results proved her wrong? Then the marriage would likely be over. How would he explain it to Mu Yan?
He suddenly found himself at a loss.
“Qing’er, you just got back. Why don’t you go rest first? We can go to the hospital another day—there’s no rush.”
Ye Yun quickly jumped in to stop Su Qing when she heard about the hospital visit.
Mu Yao actually agreed with her and looked at Su Qing hopefully, wishing she would drop the idea.
“What business is it of yours? Stop pretending to be kind. And that dress—you’re wearing my dress, aren’t you?! Who the hell gave you permission to enter my room?!”
Su Qing had had enough of Ye Yun’s phony act. She had been far too kind to her these past few days!
“I… I… Qing’er, I’m sorry…” Ye Yun began to sob quietly again.
“Su Qing, no matter what, she’s still your cousin,” Mu Yao said, feeling Su Qing was being a little too harsh.
“Cousin? Bullshit! Butler! Did you let her into my room?!”
The butler hurried over when he heard her yell. Seeing Su Qing angrily questioning him, he glanced at Ye Yun and immediately understood. “Madam, it wasn’t me. It must’ve been the maid who didn’t keep an eye on her.”
“Dock that maid’s pay for the month! And tell her not to come in tomorrow—she’s fired!”
“Yes, ma’am,” the butler sighed. Another one gone. At this rate, he’d be the only one left soon.
Su Qing deliberately caused a scene in front of Mu Yao—killing two birds with one stone. She wanted him to see that she wasn’t someone to mess with.
Ye Yun felt as if she had just been publicly slapped in the face. She stood there awkwardly, unable to say a word, clutching the skirt tightly in her fists.
Su Qing…
How dare you humiliate me like this in front of Mu Yao.
Just you wait—I won’t let you get away with this!
Going to the hospital, are you? Fine, then go!
Suddenly, Ye Yun had a flash of inspiration and seemed to have come up with a plan.
Take your time, Su Qing. I’ll play along—for now.
Mu Yao knew Su Qing was putting on a show for him, but rather than being angry, he felt oddly compliant.
Su Qing gave him a brief glance before turning and walking out. Mu Yao seemed to understand what she was doing and instructed the butler to have Xu Wen bring the car around.
Since when did I start paying attention to these things…
“Wait, Yao, are you going to the hospital?”
Ye Yun saw Mu Yao following Su Qing and quickly grabbed his arm.
“Yeah,” he replied coldly, yanking his arm back and striding forward.
“Dad!” Mu Yan called out with a pout. He wanted to say he wanted to come too, but this time, he really had something important to share.
“Be good, Yan’er. I’ll have someone take you back to Grandma’s house. We won’t be around for a while. She was really worried when she found out you disappeared—don’t make her worry again, okay?”
Mu Yao was afraid that once the test results came out, he wouldn’t be able to handle them, so he decided to send Mu Yan back to the old house first.
“Wuwuwu! I don’t want to! I want to stay here! I want Mommy!” He hadn’t even told Su Qing about what Ye Yun did. He didn’t want to leave!
“Yan’er, behave! Yu Ge! Take the young master back to the old house!”
Mu Yao ignored Mu Yan’s cries and shouted loudly.
Yu Ge, hearing the command, quickly ran over. “Yes, sir!”
“Take the young master to Madam Mu’s residence. And don’t bring him back unless I say so!”
Mu Yan heard Mu Yao’s order and exploded in rage. “You idiot! Heartless bastard! No wonder Mommy treats you like that! Hmph!”
Mu Yao’s face darkened instantly. He turned his cold gaze to the stunned Yu Ge. “Yu Ge! What are you waiting for?!”
“Yes, sir!” Yu Ge didn’t dare delay another second. He picked up the still-swearing Mu Yan and rushed him out of the house.
Ye Yun was a little angry. She couldn’t believe a child that young dared to talk to Mu Yao like that.
Hmph! No wonder he’s not his biological son!
Seeing Mu Yao leave without looking back, she quickly followed after him. “Yao, Yao, wait for me!”
Mu Yao stopped in his tracks when he heard her call his name. It made him feel strangely irritated.
“Yao, let me come with you. If the results come out, I can be there for Qing’er.”
Ye Yun put on a concerned expression.
“My name is Mu Yao. Only one person is allowed to call me that.”
He said it coldly—even though that person hadn’t used that name for him since she woke up.
Ye Yun froze. She never imagined the name she had called him for so many years would be taken away just like that.
She forced a stiff smile and quickly adjusted her expression. “Okay, then… can I come with you both?”
Mu Yao didn’t care why she wanted to go. He replied casually, “Do whatever you want,” and walked out the door.
Xu Wen was already waiting in the car.
Mu Yao got into the back seat and found Su Qing sitting there impatiently.
When he sat next to her, Su Qing instinctively shifted farther away.
Mu Yao saw how she acted like he was something dirty and his gaze turned cold.
Ye Yun had originally wanted to sit beside Mu Yao, but when she saw there was no space, she reluctantly took the front passenger seat.
“Xu Wen, to Hongxin Hospital!”
