Chapter 258: Xiao Mo Wants to Buy a Train Ticket
Xu Mo waited until the couple had left before bringing the little ones out from the inner room.
“Sister, brother-in-law, are they going to travel with us?” he asked.
Xu Ning noticed his expression and deliberately replied, “Yes, why?”
Xiao Mo pouted and said, “Anyway, I don’t want to sit with them.”
Niu Niu and Pi Pi also voiced their agreement, saying, “We don’t want to sit with them either; we want to sit with our little uncle.”
Tang Tang glanced at her brothers and uncle, then stood beside her uncle and said, “I’ll listen to my brothers and uncle.”
The couple watched as the children formed their little alliance, unable to hold back their laughter.
Xu Ning comforted the little ones, saying, “They’re just traveling with us; they won’t be with us the whole time. We’re a family, and we’ll sit together.”
Xiao Mo still seemed a bit unhappy. “Why does she have to travel with us? It’s really annoying.”
Xu Ning didn’t want to travel with them either, but she couldn’t interfere with others’ choices.
She sighed and said, “The train isn’t ours; if we can ride it, others can too.”
Xiao Mo puffed out his little chest and declared, “Hmph, when I grow up and make a lot of money, I’ll buy my own train and let whoever I want ride it.”
Xu Ning couldn’t help but laugh at his words. “How are you so capable? Why not buy a plane instead?”
Xiao Mo, hearing her laughter, felt a bit disgruntled. “Sister, why are you laughing? When I earn money, I’m really going to buy a train. Then whenever our family wants to go on a trip, I’ll drive the train and take you all.”
Lu Xiaotang stifled his laughter and said, “Xiao Mo, your brother-in-law believes in you.”
After hearing his brother-in-law’s words, Xiao Mo cast a smug glance at his sister and then took the triplets back into the room.
Xu Ning observed his proud demeanor and stroked her chin, contemplating that while buying a train might not be feasible, a private plane was still worth considering.
During lunch, Xu Ning said to Xu An, “Xiao An, your brother-in-law is going to Qishi tomorrow to buy train tickets back to Beijing. In the afternoon, could you ask Da Lin and Jianmin if they want to travel with us?”
With school still a month away and not much time left after accounting for travel, it would be better to let the two of them come along for some companionship on the road.
Xu An replied, “Sister, Jianmin and Da Lin came by this morning. They said they wanted to travel with us but were worried about arriving too early and not having a place to stay at school.
I told them that they could stay at our house for a few days after arriving in Beijing, and then move to the dorms when school starts.”
Xu Ning replied, “Just make the arrangements; there’s enough space at home.”
After finishing the rice in his bowl, Xu An added, “I’ll head to the city this afternoon to ask Fan Sizhe if he wants to travel with us.”
Fan Sizhe and Jianmin attended the same school.
Jin Dapeng didn’t dare apply to a school in Beijing due to his poor grades; he was afraid he wouldn’t be accepted, so he applied to a college in his own province and received an acceptance letter.
Wang Liang unfortunately didn’t pass the entrance exam and had been studying at home during this time, preparing to take the test again next year.
After finishing his meal, Xu An went into the city, while the little ones couldn’t sit still at home. Xiao Mo helped them put on their big cotton jackets and took them to play in the cow shed.
Lu Xiaotang and Xu Ning were at home packing their things, discreetly placing items directly into the space.
The house wasn’t large, but there were quite a few items. It took the two of them half the afternoon to finish organizing everything.
While sorting through letters on the kang, Xu Ning came across one from Lu Xiaoran and remembered, “Sister Xiaoran wrote a letter a couple of days ago, saying she would return after the New Year with Mingyu and the others.”
Lu Xiaotang nodded. “I wrote to them last month, asking them not to send any more letters to the Nanshi Military District and to send any correspondence here instead if they needed to.”
Both Lu Xiaoran and Song Mingyuan had been accepted into university.
Mingyu and his wife, along with his brother-in-law had also been accepted.
However, the universities that Song Mingyuan and Mingyu applied to were not highly regarded; they were considered among the bottom tier in Beijing.
Nonetheless, it was decent enough and is still a significant achievement. If it weren’t for their wives keeping a close eye on their studies, they probably wouldn’t even make it to the bottom tier.
Lu Xiaotang asked, “Did your elder brother and sister-in-law say when they would return to Beijing?”
“About the same time as us! Sister-in-law also got accepted to Beijing University, but Xuan Xuan is still young. She said she would take her mother with her to help take care of the child.”
Lu Xiaotang thought for a moment and said, “I’ll go back and figure out a way to get your elder brother transferred back to Beijing as soon as possible.”
While the couple was sitting on the kang talking, Xiao Mo returned with the triplets. Even before he entered the courtyard, they could already hear the commotion.
It was Pi Pi shouting, “Little Uncle, you’re biased! You only carry my sister and not me and Brother!”
Xiao Mo shot him a glare and said, “You little brat, you’re so big already. Can’t you walk by yourself? Why should I carry you?”
Tang Tang, hearing her brother complain, slid down from her uncle’s lap and said, “Little Uncle, I’ll walk by myself! I’ve grown up too!”
Xiao Mo pinched Tang Tang’s cheek and praised, “My niece is so sensible and really well-behaved.”
He glared at the two boys again and said, “Look at Tang Tang, and then look at you two. You’re either fighting or arguing over something; there’s never a moment of peace.”
Niu Niu and Pi Pi lowered their heads and didn’t say a word. Seeing them like this, Xiao Mo felt even more irritated and shouted, “What are you standing there for? It’s freezing outside; hurry up and get inside!”
Niu Niu murmured softly, “Uncle is older than us, yet he still rides on our dad’s back.”
Pi Pi also protested, “Uncle just knows how to scold us. Sometimes, he even has Dad carry him!”
However, the two brothers didn’t dare say it too loudly and followed their uncle inside.
When the couple saw the children come in, they helped them take off their big cotton jackets and let them sit on the kang to play.
(T/N: Hi! This is SakuRa^^. To clarify any potential confusion, Xu Yang is currently stationed at the Jinshi Military District, while Lu Xiaotang was previously assigned to the Nanshi Military District. Lu Xiaotang has since applied for reassignment to the Jingshi (Beijing/Capital) Military District. It’s important to note that Jinshi and Jingshi are distinct military bases located in different regions of China.)
