Chapter 3
“Thanks!”
Yun Angge had just sat up when Qin Lingnian had already placed the bowl on the bedside table and turned to leave without saying a word.
“Comrade Qin…Wait a moment, I have something to tell you.”
Qin Lingnian paused, turned around, and looked at the woman who seemed a little bewildered with a calm expression, and his guess in his heart became more and more certain.
She thought she had done everything perfectly, but he had already seen that she didn’t want to get the marriage certificate.
After waiting for a few seconds and seeing that the woman didn’t speak, Qin Lingnian looked at her meaningfully and said in a low voice: “Go ahead.”
“After dinner…” Yun Angge lowered her eyes, trying her best not to let the man see her panic, “Let’s… go get the marriage certificate?!”
On the day Qin Lingnian arrived home, the original owner overheard his conversation with Qin’s mother and learned that he could only stay at home for three days, and today was the last day. He would leave home and return to the army early tomorrow morning.
So, we must get the marriage certificate today.
Even if neither the original owner nor she had any romantic feelings for Qin Lingnian, it was really hasty to get the marriage certificate like that.
But after thinking it over, she still felt that marrying him was the best way out.
Although she is a time traveler, she doesn’t have a golden finger.
It is now 1973, a turbulent era, and the original owner and her family will have to tread on thin ice for the next four years. Even if anyone makes a mistake, the whole family will be doomed.
Therefore, she could not find a better way out except marrying Qin Lingnian.
Even though the original owner and herself had spent no more than eight hours together with Qin Lingnian, the fact that he did not force the original owner to fulfill her wifely duties and had unconditionally supported the original owner for more than three years was enough to show that he had good character and a strong sense of responsibility.
In this troubled time, he is the only one who can protect her from the wind and rain.
Besides, feelings can be cultivated slowly after marriage.
Where there is sincerity, even metal and stone can be opened!
As long as she treats him sincerely, why should she be afraid that the flower of love will not bloom in his heart? !
Qin Lingnian never expected that Yun Angge actually said in person that she wanted to get the marriage certificate with him.
There was a flash of shock in his eyes, but he quickly regained his composure, “Have you thought it through?”
Although no emotion could be detected from his cold voice, the question had a deeper meaning.
Yun Angge’s heart trembled suddenly… He actually saw that her illness was a delaying tactic? !
That’s right, he is a soldier, so he does have some sensitivity.
“I’ve thought it through!” Yun Angge nodded heavily, meeting the man’s secretive gaze, as if only in this way could he see her determination and sincerity.
Qin Lingnian nodded and stared at the woman without blinking, as if unwilling to miss any change in expression on her face.
The two of them just stared at each other, neither of them dodged, and both wanted to see into each other’s heart through each other’s eyes.
It was probably ten full seconds before Qin Lingnian withdrew his gaze, looking intentionally or unintentionally at a box of malted milk on the bedside table.
“From this month on, I will keep half of my allowance. In the spring of next year, I will apply for as many days of home leave as possible. I will come back to build a new house, and we will live separately…”
Not to mention that there is only one son in the family, even if there are five or six, it is rare for them to separate and live on their own.
Besides, he is not the only son in his family. His father died early, leaving him with only his mother and younger sister. If he wants to separate from the family and live on his own, he will definitely be criticized and called unfilial. However, he would rather be scolded than leave the family.
Even if his mother and younger sister didn’t say anything, judging from the way Yun Angge yelled at her mother yesterday, she didn’t even have the minimum respect for his mother, let alone being a filial daughter-in-law. It’s conceivable that she wouldn’t be nice to his younger sister either.
He kept only five dollars of his monthly allowance for pocket money, apart from the necessary living expenses, and sent the rest back home in the hope of improving his family’s lives.
However, his mother and younger sister were so thin that their bones were visible on their bodies. Their clothes and shoes were all patched up. It was obvious that they were living a harder life than they were three years ago.
But there was not a single patch on Yun Angge’s clothes. Not only had he grown taller, but his figure also became rounder and slimmer, and he didn’t look like he had suffered at all.
He couldn’t force her to be filial to his mother and care for his younger sister, but he couldn’t let his mother and younger sister down.
But as a man, he also has to take responsibility. Since he chose to marry her despite knowing her evil intentions, he cannot let her down.
Therefore, the only option is to split up.
At that time he would divide the allowance in two, giving half to each family.
