Transmigrated as the Female Educated Youth in 1970s Chapter 64.2

Even if the division commander knew about it, he wouldn’t make a big deal.

Instead, he would feel that his son had matured and was no longer frivolous.

Jiang Lin was glad about the move.

She asked Cheng Rushan, “When should we bring my parents and Wen Sheng over?”

Cheng Rushan replied, “First, you should go for your registration. I’ll go back to get them in a few days.”

He Liang offered, “Cheng, I’m not busy recently. I can change positions and go.”

Cheng Rushan smiled, “I need to go myself.”

Jiang Lin understood his reasoning.

He needed to go back to handle things, considering the brick kiln, the exhibition room, the courtyard, and the land.

Having someone look after them would make a huge difference.

Since the move would be tiring tomorrow, Cheng Rushan suggested that Jiang Lin not cook.

He would get the meals from the cafeteria.

When they returned with the meals, Jiang Lin noticed the time and said, “Why aren’t the kids back yet?”

Cheng Rushan replied, “I’ll check.”

Fang Chengguang said, “I’ll go instead.”

He strolled over to the elementary school.

After school, students were heading home in groups.

He asked for the first-grade classroom’s location and went there directly. When he arrived, he saw Dabao and Xiaobao standing outside the classroom, being punished.

A group of kids were pointing at them, while the teacher stood there, scolding them with a ruler.

“You two just started today and you’re already fighting with classmates. Did you bring your old bad habits with you?”

Dabao stood straight and refused to lower his head, looking defiant.

Xiaobao had his head slightly bowed, but his eyes were darting around.

Liu Ying, the teacher, was very angry. “Speak up!”

Dabao said, “You’re biased. I’m not talking to you.”

Liu Ying was furious, her face changing color. “Is this how you talk to a teacher? Your name is Cheng Li, right? Your family named you that to remind you to be polite. Is this your idea of politeness?”

Dabao sneered.

Liu Ying, even angrier, said, “Stretch out your hand!”

Dabao refused.

Liu Ying slapped him on the buttocks, “Talking back to the teacher!”

Xiaobao immediately said, “Why don’t you punish them?” He pointed at Bian Yingxiong and three other boys. “They started it by bullying us and cursing us.”

Liu Ying replied, “If they bullied you, why didn’t you tell the teacher? All I see is you two hitting others! Look at how you made Wang Xiaochun bleed from his mouth. His parents will come after you!”

Bian Yingxiong, feeling triumphant, shouted, “Teacher, it was Cheng Li who hit us. He’s the worst. Punish him by making him kneel!”

Liu Ying was enraged, “Be quiet! Am I the teacher or are you?”

Xiaobao said, “Teacher, don’t be angry. Being angry ages you quickly and gives you wrinkles. Your skin is naturally white and pretty, but when you’re angry, your face turns dark and you might get spots…”

Liu Ying was stunned.

She was so angry that she couldn’t help but smile a bit at Xiaobao’s comment.

At that moment, Fang Chengguang walked over.

He was tall and handsome, with a distinguished presence that made the women in the compound look at him with admiration.

Unfortunately, he always seemed aloof and never paid much attention to people.

Fang Chengguang, hands in pockets, stood at the door and glanced at Dabao and Xiaobao. “Did they make a mistake?”

Liu Ying responded, “They were fighting with classmates.”

Fang Chengguang looked at Bian Yingxiong and the others and said, “Why aren’t they being punished? If it’s a fight, each person should get three strokes.”

Liu Ying recalled Kuang Guomei’s aggressive demeanor and hesitated.

She didn’t dare punish Bian Yingxiong because, in this military school, everyone had connections or relatives in power.

She feared that if she punished Dabao and Xiaobao, Kuang Guomei would cause trouble and make things worse for the new students.

Liu Ying thought she was doing the right thing by trying to manage the situation delicately.

Fang Chengguang understood the situation without needing much explanation.

He knew that kids often form cliques and bully others.

If one kid is tough or has influential parents, others will group around them.

Groups of kids often cause trouble, either by misbehaving or by teaming up to bully others.

Dabao and Xiaobao, coming from the countryside, were good-looking and had strong personalities.

The other kids probably didn’t like them and would either provoke them with words or try to physically fight them.

Other kids might get scared and run home, not wanting to go to school, but Dabao and Xiaobao weren’t like that.

So, a fight broke out.

Since Dabao and Xiaobao were outnumbered and weaker, they ended up getting beaten up.

However, they were smart enough to pick fights with only those they could handle.

Therefore, the one who got beaten looked pretty rough.

Liu Ying, trying to be fair to Fang Chengguang, told Dabao and Xiaobao, “If you fight again, don’t come to school. Have your parents come tomorrow!”

Fang Chengguang frowned, “I am their parent. If you have something to say, say it clearly.”

Liu Ying, feeling a bit flustered, tried to smile but couldn’t, “The kids are new and still adjusting. Their family needs to teach them not to fight.”

Fang Chengguang replied, “Men do fight sometimes. If someone dares to insult me, I’ll fight them!”

Liu Ying was speechless.

Fang Chengguang glanced at Bian Yingxiong and said, “You go tell your parents that if you bully Cheng Dabao and Cheng Xiaobao again, I will come after them.”

Bian Yingxiong, who had heard a lot of nonsense from his mother, suddenly connected the dots and shouted, “I know, you must have your eyes on their mother, that vixen!”

As soon as Bian Yingxiong said this, Liu Ying was horrified.

Fang Chengguang, who usually appeared nonchalant, suddenly became fierce, with a look so sharp it seemed like he wanted to strangle Bian Yingxiong.

Liu Ying thought Bian Yingxiong had hit a nerve and that Fang Chengguang was furious.

Fang Chengguang marched over and grabbed for Bian Yingxiong.

Bian Yingxiong was so scared that he started crying loudly.

Fang Chengguang grabbed Bian Yingxiong by the shoulders and lifted him onto a desk, asking coldly, “Tell me, who said that?”

Bian Yingxiong could only cry and shook his head vigorously, saying, “No, no, I just said it randomly.”

He didn’t dare admit his mother was the one who said it.

Liu Ying rushed over, trying to intervene, “Fang Chengguang, don’t argue with a child. He’s just talking nonsense.”

Fang Chengguang glared at her and asked, “Is that what you said?”

Liu Ying was terrified and shook her head vigorously, “Of course not!”

Fang Chengguang poked Bian Yingxiong and warned, “If I hear you talk nonsense again, I’ll beat you and your parents to a pulp!”

Then he told Dabao and Xiaobao, “Let’s go.”

Bian Yingxiong slid off the desk, sobbing uncontrollably.

Dabao, who was about to leave, suddenly turned around, ran up to Bian Yingxiong, tackled him, and started punching him in the face, shouting, “Say one more word, and I’ll beat you to again and again!”

Bian Yingxiong tried to fight back.

He was older and tried to throw Dabao off him.

Xiaobao quickly sat on Bian Yingxiong’s legs, holding down his ankles so he couldn’t move.

So Dabao, sitting on Bian Yingxiong’s chest with his knees pinning Bian Yingxiong’s arms, kept punching his face.

Even though Dabao was small, his punches were hard, breaking Bian Yingxiong’s nose and mouth and swelling his eyes.

Liu Ying was frantic, trying to stop the fight, but she was too scared to approach because of Fang Chengguang’s cold glare.

When it was almost over, Fang Chengguang said, “Let’s go. Don’t beat him up too badly.”

Dabao and Xiaobao got up, and Xiaobao, with a grin, put on his backpack and said, “Dabao, you look so cool! Let’s see if he dares to insult Linlin again. We’ll beat him up!”

Fang Chengguang noticed Dabao’s injuries and torn clothes, so he took them to the medical room where a nurse attentively fixed Dabao’s clothes.

On the way home, Dabao said, “Uncle Fang, don’t tell my parents.”

Fang Chengguang smiled, “I’m not a gossip; I don’t like spreading stories.”

Xiaobao grabbed his hand and said, “Uncle Fang, you’re the best. From now on, you’re our big brother.”

Fang Chengguang thought, “You two are taking advantage of me already.”

“Do you need to learn some fighting skills? How to avoid attacks and not get hurt, but still make the other person feel pain?”

“Yes!” Dabao and Xiaobao were enthusiastic.

The three of them discussed the fighting skills in a friendly manner as they headed back to the dormitory.

When Jiang Lin saw Dabao’s bruised face, she was startled and tried to touch his face, asking, “Who did this?”

Dabao dodged and said, “I’ve already taken care of it. Don’t ask!”

Jiang Lin was surprised by his bravado.

Cheng Rushan pinched Dabao’s head and said, “You should speak properly to your mom.”

Xiaobao added, “Dad, Dabao didn’t want Mom to worry.”

Cheng Rushan said, “Even so, you should talk to Mom properly.”

Dabao replied, “Mom, Im really fine.”

Jiang Lin decided to drop the matter.

With so many people around, she chose to give her child some face.

When Da Bao and Xiao Bao saw that Cheng Rushan didn’t ask any more questions, they breathed a sigh of relief and winked at Fang Chengguang.

Fang Chengguang smiled, and everyone sat down to eat together.

He Liang: “Oh, let me tell you, there’s a way to fight; you can’t just swing blindly. I’ll teach you later.”

Da Bao looked at Fang Chengguang and said, “We’ve already asked Uncle Fang to teach us.”

Xiao Bao chuckled and asked, “Uncle He, can you beat my dad?”

He Liang: It would be a miracle if I could even defeat one of his fingers.

After the meal, Da Bao went to Fang Chengguang to learn about boxing.

He Liang looked over and said to Cheng Rushan, “Brother Cheng, you’re so skilled; why don’t you teach them yourself?”

Cheng Rushan: “Have you heard that a doctor should not treat himself?”

He Liang shook his head, “It’s not the same.”

Jiang Lin smiled and said, “My Husband can’t bear to be harsh on the children. If he’s not strict, he can’t teach them properly, so we have to trouble you.”

He Liang immediately shook his head vigorously, “No, no, I can’t do it. I only have affection for Da Bao and Xiao Bao; I don’t want to be harsh at all.”

Jiang Lin understood Cheng Rushan’s point.

He had suffered too much in the past and couldn’t bear to see his sons endure similar hardships.

Da Bao and Xiao Bao don’t need to be pushed to the extremes; their initial intentions for learning martial arts were different from Cheng Rushan’s, and so the motivational methods are naturally different.

He feared that the teaching process might bring the suppressed and dark emotions from his past into the children’s lives, which could affect them.

On the other hand, Fang Chengguang, being from a cadre family, had not experienced many hardships in life but still managed to learn excellent combat skills.

His experiences were different from Cheng Rushan’s, making him seem more suitable to teach Da Bao and Xiao Bao.

Of course, if Fang Chengguang did not take the initiative to teach Da Bao and Xiao Bao, Cheng Rushan would not say anything.

Some things are better when children do them on their own; making requests to adults is different from pursuing them themselves.

When the children ask, it reflects their friendship with Fang Chengguang and their own interests; the outcome of their learning is their own business.

If Cheng Rushan were to bring it up, it would imply a serious intent and create an invisible pressure, which Cheng Rushan disliked.

Da Bao and Xiao Bao didn’t ask for it, so Fang Chengguang naturally remained silent.

Meanwhile, Bian Yingxiong went home crying to complain to Kuang Guomei, hoping that his mother would support him.

Kuang Guomei had originally intended to confront Jiang Lin but was scolded by Bian Haitao instead.

After hearing that Fang Chengguang stood up for Da Bao and Xiao Bao, she had no choice but to hold back her anger and take it as a silent loss, deciding to address it another time.

Bian Haitao was very frustrated.

He had always wanted to befriend Fang Chengguang but had never succeeded.

It was infuriating to see Cheng Rushan succeed where he had failed.

It seemed that Cheng Rushan was indeed someone exceptional.

The next day, as the family was moving, Da Bao and Xiao Bao wanted to help but were still sent to school by Jiang Lin.

She intended to remind them not to get into fights, but Da Bao wasn’t very receptive to it, and Xiao Bao just smiled, paying no attention.

Jiang Lin decided to follow Cheng Rushan’s advice and let them handle things themselves.

If it really didn’t work out, the parents would step in.

After all, sometimes involving adults in children’s matters can make things worse.

When Da Bao and Xiao Bao went to school and didn’t see Jiang Lin, Xiao Bao said with a smile, “Linlin didn’t scold us after all.”

Da Bao, concerned, asked, “Do you think she’s feeling upset? The teacher said it’s bad to hold in anger.”

Xiao Bao replied, “Don’t worry, Linlin isn’t the type to get upset. We’re moving today, and Grandpa, Grandma, and Wensheng are coming. She’s probably really happy.”

Da Bao felt reassured and thought that if Mom ever got upset in the future, it would be better to let her scold him; even if she hit him a couple of times, it would be better than her being silently unhappy.

Grandma always said that keeping anger inside is bad for your health, and Grandpa and Uncle both had health problems because of it.

He didn’t want his mom to be unhappy.

As the two brothers walked, a man in military uniform smiled at them from the side of the road. “Off to school?”

Xiao Bao nodded, but he didn’t clearly see who it was.

Da Bao, however, recognized him clearly—it was Bian Haitao.

He shouted angrily, “You and your wife stay away from my mom! Otherwise, I’ll beat your son every day!”
