Watching Tang Tian lift the water tray and stop in front of Wen Shaohan’s door, Zheng Liyu’s expression betrayed a barely concealed surprise. What was Tang Tian thinking? Had she shifted her seduction target again?
Ignoring Zheng Liyu behind her, Tang Tian raised her hand and knocked lightly on Wen Shaohan’s door.
After a few seconds, a warm and courteous male voice came from inside the room.
“Come in.”
As Tang Tian turned the doorknob, Zheng Liyu finally pushed the food cart forward, her skeptical gaze fixed on Tang Tian’s back.
Tang Tian opened the door to reveal a bedroom decorated in cool tones, with dim lighting that made the space feel somewhat oppressive at first glance.
On the sofa sat Wen Shaohan, dressed in casual homewear. His tall, slender figure relaxed yet elegant, effortlessly commanding everyone’s attention and holding it firmly.
Hearing the door move, Wen Shaohan looked up. The dim light cast a halo that softly illuminated the woman stepping inside.
Her striking beauty and curvaceous figure gradually came into focus under Wen Shaohan’s gaze. His expression remained as gentle as ever, but the scrutiny in his eyes had deepened.
It was obvious he was recalling what he had heard a couple of days ago—was she the servant who had upset Pei Jue?
Wen Shaohan didn’t avert his gaze, looking intently at the approaching Tang Tian. His eyes remained calm, but judging by her appearance, she certainly possessed an alluring charm.
Tang Tian noticed his scrutinizing look but felt no nervousness. She placed the tray gently on the coffee table.
“Mr. Wen, please enjoy.” With that, she turned and left without hesitation.
Even after she quietly closed the door behind her, Wen Shaohan still didn’t respond.
As Tang Tian closed the door, she glanced to the side and saw Zheng Liyu hastily emerging from Pei Jue’s room, looking visibly shaken.
Tang Tian had no intention of approaching her, instead waiting for Zheng Liyu to push the food cart over.
When Zheng Liyu finally brought the cart before her, Tang Tian’s face betrayed her annoyance. If it weren’t for Tang Tian seducing Pei Jue, Pei Jue wouldn’t be so difficult to get along with now—cold and distant, his gaze sweeping over her like a frozen sculpture.
Just delivering a fruit platter almost had her crying from Pei Jue’s dark, gloomy expression.
“I’m leaving it to you,” Zheng Liyu said with a sour tone, roughly pushing the food cart toward Tang Tian, showing her disdain without holding back.
Tang Tian glanced at her, indifferent to whether Zheng Liyu’s tone was good or bad, and pushed the cart down the hallway to the left.
Better to finish early and rest early—arguing with Zheng Liyu was pointless. It would only waste time and spoil her already neutral mood.
Zheng Liyu had expected Tang Tian to throw a fit, but instead, Tang Tian just glanced at her once and walked away. That only made Zheng Liyu angrier, like punching cotton—frustrating and irritating all at once.
Tang Tian pushed the cart up to Fu Xi’s door and, as usual, knocked first.
“Who is it?” Fu Xi’s slightly breathless voice came from inside.
Tang Tian didn’t detect anything unusual. “Mr. Fu, I’m here with your fruit platter.”
“Wait a moment.” The voice carried a trace of impatience.
Standing outside the door, Tang Tian didn’t notice the impatience in Fu Xi’s voice—after all, there was a door between them, and she could only catch the words he said.
After a moment, Fu Xi’s voice came again: “Come in.”
Only then did Tang Tian turn the doorknob and wheel the food cart inside, carrying the fruit platter into Fu Xi’s room.
Fu Xi seemed to have just finished showering. His thick black hair was still slightly damp, and his handsome face wore an expression full of impatience. He sat on the sofa with long legs stretched apart, dressed in silk men’s pajamas, frequently pressing the TV remote in his hand.
Next to the sofa sat a box of tissues.
Tang Tian had never been in love, so she had no idea what Fu Xi had just been doing.
When Fu Xi saw it was her, his impatient expression deepened into faint anger, thinking she had come to deliberately bother him by knocking on his door at this time.
“It’s you again.” It was obvious he disliked Tang Tian and often had complaints about her.
Tang Tian placed the fruit platter on the coffee table. Facing his disdain, she replied lightly, “Tonight it’s my turn to deliver fruit to the gentlemen. If Mr. Fu doesn’t want to see me, he can tell Sister Wu.”
Considering the high salary, she just treated herself like an emotionless machine—and honestly, she wouldn’t mind doing a little less work.
Fu Xi looked up impatiently, suddenly meeting her clear, bright eyes. It was as if she truly had no idea what he had been doing just moments ago.
“All right, you can go now.”
After placing the fruit platter down, Tang Tian quickly stepped back, clearly wanting to keep as much distance as possible from Fu Xi.
The moment he finished speaking, she immediately turned and left his room.
Fu Xi watched her graceful figure walk away, then smirked to himself. What could a mere servant possibly be scheming? He shook his head disdainfully and soon dismissed her from his mind.
Tang Tian pushed the cart to Shen Yanli’s door and knocked.
“Come in.”
Inside, the sound of a guitar drifted out.
Peeking inside, Tang Tian saw Shen Yanli holding a guitar. His softly curled hair gave him a casual, relaxed vibe. His handsome face was slightly lowered, and his slender, elegant fingers gently strummed the strings. Every feature of his was flawless.
She said nothing, quietly set the fruit platter on the coffee table, and then left the room.
The beautiful guitar melody continued uninterrupted from her arrival to her departure. Shen Yanli never once looked up, indifferent to whoever had come in.
Tang Tian closed the door softly behind her, humming a tune as she pushed the cart toward the elevator.
Finally, it was time to get off work. The hours had been long, but there was no way around it—the pay was truly high. Compared to her last job, her current salary was more than fifty percent higher, and that previous job had been even more exhausting.
Tang Tian was easily satisfied. Bound by the contract, she couldn’t stay away from the male and female leads, so she figured she might as well take the opportunity to save some money. By the time the contract expired, she would have saved quite a bit.
The first-floor lobby was empty and quiet. Although the lights were on, the villa was so large that it felt cold and desolate.
As Tang Tian stepped out of the elevator, she quickly wheeled the cart back to the kitchen and headed straight toward her room. Passing through the deserted lobby, she suddenly heard “tap tap tap” footsteps echoing from somewhere, and all at once, images from every horror movie she’d ever seen flashed through her mind.
A chill wind brushed against her skin, sending a shiver down her spine. Frightened, she hugged herself and darted through the lobby like a gust of wind, her footsteps racing with the speed of spinning wheels.
Fu Xi, who had just come downstairs to get some wine, watched her streak past with a puzzled expression on his handsome face.
Back in her room, Tang Tian found her pajamas and took a long, relaxing hot shower. Exhausted, she soon fell asleep in bed.
Her dreams were fragmented and restless. When she finally woke up, dawn was already breaking.
The butler had strict rules: during the four gentlemen’s breakfast, the servants were to stand by at all times, ready to provide whatever they might need.
Because Tang Tian had upset Pei Jue a couple of days ago, the butler had instructed her to stay out of Pei Jue’s sight for the time being. That was why she was the only one not in the dining area yesterday.
Tang Tian assumed it would be the same this morning. She was just about to head to the staff cafeteria for breakfast when the butler called out to her as he passed by.
“Tang Tian, where are you going?” The butler saw her leisurely walking toward the staff cafeteria and stopped her.
“To eat breakfast,” Tang Tian answered honestly.
The butler didn’t seem displeased. “Eat later. The dining area is too busy right now. You should go help out first.”
Since one servant had been dismissed yesterday and Tang Tian wasn’t there, the remaining staff in the dining area had been flustered during breakfast.
Tang Tian reminded him cautiously, “Butler, what about Master Pei? I don’t want to upset him early in the morning. If my salary gets docked because of it, that would be even worse.”
The butler felt the situation had cooled off over the past two or three days. Master Pei’s anger should have mostly subsided by now, and Tang Tian had been quieter these past few days.
“Stand behind Mr. Shen later,” the butler said after thinking it over, trying to keep her away from Master Pei as much as possible.
Tang Tian hesitated for a moment but still asked,
“What if Master Pei gets angry? Will he dock my salary?”
The butler chuckled at her tentative question.
“Of course not.”
Then his expression turned serious again. “But the incident from that night must never happen again.”
Tang Tian immediately nodded. “Don’t worry, Butler. I won’t do that again.”
Seeing that she didn’t seem to be lying, the butler relaxed considerably.
In the spacious dining area on the first floor, four men with extraordinary looks, posture, and aura sat around a large dining table. Occasionally, they exchanged a few words, but none of them spoke much.
