Chapter 20: Flirty Texts with Wife, Got Scolded

“Kick me out? You’re basically asking for my life!” Xia Yuan blurted out.

Qin Mohuai, amused, raised an eyebrow, a smirk tugging at his thin lips as he pulled her from the sofa to the carpet below.

With him cushioning the fall, Xia Yuan wasn’t hurt.

Even if she had been hurt, she wouldn’t have cared. Unashamed and perhaps spoiled, she straddled Qin Mohuai’s waist, her pure black eyes glaring at him. “Unless I die, you can forget about getting rid of me!”

“Darling, you look like a lioness protecting her territory right now.”

Qin Mohuai’s collarbone and fingers were pale, his blue hair wild and unruly. He lay lazily on the ground, looking like a devilish rogue. Suddenly, his lean waist exerted force, flipping their positions. Now, Xia Yuan found herself completely at his mercy.

The atmosphere was dangerously intimate, and realizing the situation, she quickly crawled away. Her escape was anything but graceful, but survival was more important!

Without much effort, the man grabbed her ankle, pulling her back into his embrace. His kisses fell densely upon her body like raindrops.

Xia Yuan’s mind went blank, her body going soft in his arms. Taking advantage of a break between kisses, she managed to shout, “I just finished my period! I’m still not feeling well!”

Qin Mohuai instantly sobered up. He gently adjusted her underwear and skirt, smoothing her messy hair with the care of a model husband, as though he wasn’t the same person who had just been devouring her moments earlier.

“You sly gentleman.”

As Qin Mohuai tied her shoes, his hands paused. “What did you say?”

Xia Yuan, now behaving innocently, replied, “I said you’re very refined. I like men like you!”

When she behaved like this, she could melt hearts with just a smile.

Even though he knew she was pretending, Qin Mohuai was happy to be fooled by her.

Xia Yuan patted her forehead. “I almost got tricked by you. What did you mean by kicking me out?”

Qin Mohuai patiently explained, “I’m not kicking you out. It’s just that the anniversary of my parents’ death is approaching. Every year around this time, my emotions become unstable. I might do something violent or crazy… To be safe, it’s better if you stay elsewhere for two or three days. Once the anniversary passes, I’ll bring you home.”

Xia Yuan nodded, wrapping her arms around his neck, unwilling to leave him.

This was a prime opportunity to increase his affection for her! She had read countless novels and manga about redeeming deranged male leads. In their weakest moments, a few sweet words could break down their emotional walls, and the affection value would skyrocket!

Qin Mohuai held her hand and led her to the floor-to-ceiling window, pressing her against the glass wall—not gently. His cold eyes studied her small, panicked face.

“You’re already shaking like a leaf? Darling, you’re trembling so much. If you’re scared of just this, you’ll be terrified when I really lose it. And when that happens, I won’t recognize anyone. If I break you, calling me a mad dog won’t help.”

Xia Yuan sniffled, grabbing hold of one of Qin Mohuai’s fingers.

This man was truly bad to the core.

Xia Yuan stayed at Yuxiang Mansion that night, arriving with the help of bodyguards.

Qin Mohuai went to the old residence to help out, as this year marked the tenth anniversary of the Qin couple’s death. It was a time of many visitors and complicated affairs.

Before leaving, the bodyguard gave a stern warning: “It’s best to go to bed early on the anniversary day and avoid answering any calls from Mr. Qin. If he comes over, don’t open the door. Although Mr. Qin has trained in Muay Thai and sanda, he probably won’t be able to break down the door.”

Xia Yuan’s eyelid twitched. The warning sounded more like a threat the more she thought about it.

Qin Mohuai had been taking medication to stay stable, but she had never seen him truly lose control. Was it really that serious?

“He knows the code for the main door.”

“Then change it.”

“…Okay.” Xia Yuan changed the code to her birthday.

Unable to fall asleep with her mind racing, she sent Qin Mohuai a message at 1 AM before finally drifting off.

At the Qin family’s old residence.

Qin Mohuai stood on the balcony smoking, his gray-blue hair tousled by the wind. He looked handsome and aloof, but his thoughts were dark and depraved. He should have taken care of Xia Yuan in front of the floor-to-ceiling window this afternoon.

Ouyang Jing saw him and, mustering all her courage, still hesitated to approach him.

Having spent a lot of time with the Qin family recently, she had heard many unsettling stories about Qin Mohuai, making her wary. She thought he might be a high-IQ serial killer.

There was a young and beautiful female psychologist who used to give Qin Mohuai regular counseling. She believed that, because Qin Mohuai restrained his temper in her presence, she was special. But when she started to make advances and wear sexy lingerie to seduce him, Qin Mohuai strangled her and threw her out the window. Fortunately, the clinic was on the second floor, so she didn’t die, but she was unlikely to be the same person after her discharge.

Ouyang Jing couldn’t imagine how someone could be so ruthless after three years, and she dared not provoke him, wondering how Xia Yuan managed to be with him.

Old Master Qin, leaning on his cane, looked around and saw his lonely grandson smoking. He walked over with a frown.

“Jing came today, and you didn’t say a word to her. I know you don’t like her, but she is your fiancée now. Don’t lose your gentlemanly demeanor.”

“Tomorrow is my parents’ anniversary. I’m not in the mood for indulgence before such a day.” Qin Mohuai flicked the ash from his cigarette, his expression indifferent, almost arrogantly dismissive.

The servants nearby dared not approach him, fearing that the iron-faced bodyguards would take offense.

Yet they all heard the sound of the cane hitting the ground, urgent and angry.

Back in his room, Qin Mohuai opened his phone to see Xia Yuan’s message.

[Rest well, take your medicine, and wait for me to pick you up the day after tomorrow.]

Qin Mohuai’s cold gaze gradually softened, his long, lazy frame sinking into the sofa, exuding an elegant but careless aura.

[Wife, show me.]

In the middle of the night, Xia Yuan woke up to get some water. She checked her phone and, furious, edited and sent a message full of insults, heavily laced with terms like ‘mad dog’ and ‘pervert.’

The Qin family, with its century-old lineage, had its own family cemetery where the Qin couple was buried.

The sky was gloomy with rolling thunder.

Qin Mohuai, dressed in a black suit, looked as stoic and handsome as the photo of his father on the tombstone.

He gazed at his mother’s grave.

“Mom, I’ve found someone to spend my life with. I’ll bring her to see you during the New Year, and I’m sure you’ll like her.”

During dinner that night, Old Master Qin casually suggested that Ouyang Jing move to the mansion to develop her relationship with Qin Mohuai.

Ouyang Jing quickly glanced at Qin Mohuai and shook her head slightly, indicating this wasn’t her intention.

Qin Mohuai slowly stood up, his smile elegant and his voice gentle and approachable. “Could you take off the collar around my neck?”

The black shock collar, about a thumb wide, was a thin layer against his pale skin.

The room fell silent. Even Old Master Qin dared not speak further.

During the day, Qin Mohuai had worn the shock collar calmly to prevent himself from going into a fit. Now, he was asking everyone to remove it with a seductive and pleading tone, leaving everyone uncertain about his current state. No one was willing to remove it, fearing that he was pretending to be okay to get them to take it off, potentially causing a disturbance.
