Chapter 24: White Mini Maybach – Who’s It For?
Pei Jinchen’s circle was led by none other than Qin Mohuai.
Qin Mohuai had the advantage of good looks—handsome, elegant, and refined. Yet, his personality was the most rebellious. If there was something or someone he disdained, he couldn’t even be bothered to say a word. Those who didn’t know him well might think he was deeply composed and graceful.
It was rare to see Qin Mohuai so serious. Even during the near-financial crisis a few years ago, he hadn’t appeared this tense. Pei Jinchen knew something big was coming, so he leaned in to listen.
Qin Mohuai said, “Last night, Yuan and I went to buy some late-night snack. Xia Yuan, the one you call the ‘little princess,’ you can address her as your sister-in-law. Someone saw me during one of my rage, they thought my actions and expression were strange, and called me an idiot.”
Pei Jinchen thought to himself, That person’s probably done for. Qin Mohuai had trained in Muay Thai—two or three punches could take out a professional fighter, let alone an ordinary person.
Qin Mohuai’s aristocratic eyes were fixed on Pei Jinchen.
When Pei asked, “You didn’t kill him, right?”
Qin Mohuai, satisfied, took a sip of champagne. “At the time, my juice spilled, so I was too busy wiping down the table. But your Yuan was outraged and scolded the drunk man on my behalf. Imagine that—she’s as fragile as a newborn chick in front of that drunk. Where did she get the courage? Must be because she’s head over heels for me.”
“You can understand how I felt in that moment, right? Oh wait, I forgot you don’t have a girlfriend, so maybe you can’t relate. But that’s okay, you’re doing great. You’ve witnessed the most beautiful state of love.”
Pei Jinchen’s face changed several times. No, Qin Mohuai must be out of his mind!
Pei had been abroad on business this year and hadn’t seen Qin for a long time. Noticing the black dragonhead ring on his finger, he asked, “Since when did you start wearing a pinky ring?”
Qin Mohuai’s thin lips curved up. “Xia Yuan bought it for me.”
Pei Jinchen: “…”
Ha. He didn’t believe for a second that someone as prickly as Qin Mohuai could have a girlfriend. He’s been single for 27 years, and it was Qin’s grandfather who had to step in to find him a fiancée.
Pei Jinchen narrowed his fox-like eyes. “If she loves you so much, why isn’t she here with you today? Where’s the Xia Yuan who gave you a pinky ring, stuck by your side, and asked for that white Mini Maybach? She doesn’t exist! We’re both single—what’s the point of showing off in front of me?”
Qin Mohuai adjusted his Patek Philippe watch and slightly loosened the blue Windsor knot at his collar.
Pei Jinchen sneered. “Don’t tell me Xia Yuan tied your tie for you before you left the house.”
Pei Jinchen parents genuinely love each other. Although Pei Jinchen was their only son, Pei’s mother loved his father the most. She tied her husband’s ties every day and always prepared him hangover soup. She never made special preparations for Pei Jinchen, not even booking him a plane ticket on family trips.
Growing up in such a loving environment, Pei Jinchen ended up starved for affection. That’s why he absolutely didn’t believe Qin Mohuai had a doting girlfriend. He was certain Qin was lying. If anyone was going to get out of the single life first, it’d be him!
Qin Mohuai raised an eyebrow over his cool, pale brow bone. “Xia Yuan knows several ways to tie a tie. She was sitting in my lap tying it for me while we had brunch.”
The more Pei Jinchen heard, the more absurd it sounded. Narrowing his fox-like eyes, he smiled elegantly and coldly. He still didn’t believe Qin Mohuai was no longer single.
What a joke—someone as normal as him was still single. How could someone as gloomy as Qin possibly find a partner?
Several men in suits walked over to make small talk. Attending these high-end clubs wasn’t just about indulgence; it was a way to expand one’s network and seek new business opportunities.
Pei Jinchen, as the boss, had to socialize, while Qin Mohuai slipped away with a glass of champagne.
A few minutes later, Yang Yi ran into Qin Mohuai.
In a low voice, Yang Yi asked, “Nothing happened last night, right?”
Even as a doctor, Yang Yi wouldn’t dare approach Qin Mohuai during one of his episodes—unless he had a death wish.
Qin Mohuai responded gravely, “Xia Yuan must really be crazy about me.”
Yang Yi asked in disbelief, “Wait, was Xia Yuan with you last night? Is she still alive? Does she still have all four limbs?”
Qin shot him a look and repeated the same story he had told Pei Jinchen earlier.
Yang Yi rubbed his temples in exasperation. He felt that Qin Mohuai wasn’t quite cured yet. Boss, I preferred you when you were aloof and rebellious. Now, with all this peacock-like showiness, you’re becoming a stranger to me!
Before long, the elegant tone of the cocktail party was disrupted by excitement when a tightly wrapped Maybach was driven through the front gates.
Yang Yi, who had once teamed up with Qin Mohuai and Pei Jinchen to form a racing team, no longer obsessed over luxury cars. However, this custom Maybach had been jointly modified by Qin and Pei, and even he found it irresistible. Let alone everyone else.
“That’s quite mysterious,” Yang Yi remarked.
Qin Mohuai responded, “Too bad she didn’t come.”
Pei Jinchen sent a text to Qin Mohuai, asking if they could let everyone have a look at the car. Many car enthusiasts had come specifically for this reveal, and letting them down would make him, as the host, look bad.
Qin Mohuai lazily dialed Pei’s phone, his cold voice oozing nonchalance, “As long as no one touches it, they can look all they want. But you have to admit that Xia Yuan and I are deeply in love.”
Pei Jinchen begrudgingly replied, “Fine, I admit it. You two are very much in love.”
Qin Mohuai: “I know you’re jealous, which is why you’re so reluctant to acknowledge it.”
Pei Jinchen wanted to grab Qin by the collar and shout, Yes! I’m jealous! I should’ve been the one to have a sweet, loving relationship first!
Once the white Mini Maybach was unveiled, countless flashes went off, matching the fanfare of a superstar. In fact, even a superstar standing next to it would pale in comparison to its allure.
“Wow! That white body exudes pure luxury!”
“It might lack the traditional imposing presence of a Maybach, but it’s incredibly elegant and compact. Definitely a collector’s item.”
“I heard this car costs as much as three regular Maybachs!”
Everyone was dumbfounded. Only someone like Pei Jinchen or Qin Mohuai could pull off something like this. From its exterior to its interior, the car looked perfect for a woman to drive.
Many wondered which stunning socialite had inspired such a painstakingly customized white Mini Maybach. Even some six-foot-tall men were joking about wanting to change genders on the spot. If they couldn’t become the Qin family heir, being the woman of the Qin family heir seemed like a pretty good deal too!
Ouyang Jing was also in attendance today. Qin’s grandfather had been planning to get her a new car, something like a Bentley or Rolls-Royce—something fitting for the wife of the Qin family’s eldest grandson.
Song Cien excitedly shook Ouyang Jing’s arm. “Jing, didn’t you mention wanting a white Mini Maybach before? That must’ve gotten back to Qin Mohuai, and he made your wish come true!”
Ouyang Jing’s heart skipped a beat when she saw the white Mini Maybach. “It’s probably not for me.”
Song Cien’s eyes gleamed. “That car was clearly custom-made for a woman. Whether it’s Pei Jinchen or the Qin family heir, their names alone could drive the socialites of Xiangzhou wild. This is a one-of-a-kind custom Maybach. If not for you, the Qin family’s eldest grandson’s wife, who else could it be for? Even if it wasn’t intended for you, just give Qin’s grandfather a call, and it’ll be yours.”
