Although Qin Mohuai had stated that he didn’t want a birthday party this year, Butler Wang had still secretly prepared one. After all, they needed to have a nice meal, right?
Qin Mohuai liked blue, so from the fountain surrounded by meticulously trimmed lawn to the expensive Roman column sculptures both inside and out, and the several-meter-long dining table adorned with elegant and fresh blue roses, everything was bathed in various shades of blue.
The long dining table had custom-made tableware, with a set of deep and pure azure blue glazed bowls and plates that matched Qin Mohuai’s noble and serene demeanor. The Chinese wine set was even more luxurious, with handcrafted blue crystal glasses featuring ornate, collectible-level details.
Xia Yuan had carefully prepared a 10-inch animal cream cake and carried it to the second floor to hide.
After washing the car and making the cake, she was a bit tired. After hiding the cake, she lay on the bed to rest, with over an hour left before Qin Mohuai’s birthday.
Qin Mohuai was born at 12:30 PM on October 10th, so his birthday parties were usually held at that time.
Just a few minutes after Xia Yuan lay down, she heard the sound of cars and noisy voices.
It sounded like more than just a few people.
Dragging her tired body to the floor-to-ceiling window, she saw a bus and elegantly dressed young men and women stepping out of it.
Oh my god.
Xia Yuan’s social anxiety kicked in.
To not disappoint Butler Wang’s meticulous preparations, she had changed into a high-fashion nude pink satin slip dress, with the skirt adorned with several dazzling diamond circles. The dress was sweet, romantic, yet elegant, and she wore no high-end jewelry on her neck or wrists, letting her clean, porcelain-like skin stand out.
She usually stayed at home and had never dressed so formally. Originally, she wore it for Qin Mohuai, which had already made her quite anxious.
As if his birthday was so significant that she needed to go all out…
Maybe she should change her clothes.
Xia Yuan lifted her hand and gently patted her flushed cheeks. The smooth satin pressed into soft mounds as she moved her arm, revealing a pale, delicate cleavage that exuded youthful fragrance and tenderness, making it hard to look away.
The corridor was lined with sound-absorbing carpet. Qin Mohuai quietly entered the partially open master bedroom and saw this beautiful scene.
Butler Wang hadn’t lied; his precious one had dressed up beautifully and delicately for his birthday.
Qin Mohuai embraced her from behind, his voice low and husky, “Since it’s my birthday, let’s stay here and be together all day.”
Xia Yuan was startled, then speechless. Could you please stop saying such frightening things!
“I see many of your friends have arrived. It’s not practical to stay here all day. You should go downstairs and greet them.”
“Don’t want to.”
The dress was too long for him to do anything from the hem, so he had to take advantage of the neckline.
Noticing Qin Mohuai’s restlessness, Xia Yuan grabbed his wrist first, her bright eyes warning him not to misbehave.
The man’s eyes were alluring and composed, like the cold fragrance of ebony on him—both restrained and gentle, subtly stirring the heart.
Xia Yuan couldn’t maintain eye contact for long; she felt he was too gentle, easily falling into indulgence.
Qin Mohuai said, “You’re my wife; you should help me entertain them.”
Once he had the desire to show off his wife, no one can stop him.
Pei Jinchen, with his hands in his pockets and dressed in a specially tailored Italian suit, exuded a refined, dashing aura. His restless fox-like eyes scanned the surroundings.
“Where is Qin Mohuai he disappear so fast?”
Yang Yi replied, “He’s upstairs; he should be calling Xia Yuan.”
Pei Jinchen sneered, “Probably sneaking upstairs to inflate his wife.”
Yang Yi shrugged, resigned. You can’t wake someone who is consumed by jealousy.
Pei Jinchen, with his naturally fox-like eyes and a face that was both charming and roguish, was known for running a luxury car club and appeared to be a skilled player in the dating scene.
In reality, Pei Jinchen had been single all his life. Even when racing and making bold bets, he’d rather curse himself to lose an arm or a leg than use lifelong singlehood as a wager. Despite his playboy exterior, he had a pure-hearted youth within.
Butler Wang cleared his throat and invited everyone to sit and have tea.
In just a few minutes, the grand and small living rooms were filled with guests. The mansion had never been this lively. Butler Wang took note of the number of people and quickly instructed the servants to add tables and utensils.
Suddenly, someone exclaimed, “Why is there a Starry Dew doll here?”
Pei Jinchen looked over, incredulous. How could such a girly doll be in Qin Mohuai’s house?
He scoffed, “Someone must have left it here by mistake.”
Yang Yi suggested, “Isn’t it possible that there’s a girl who likes Starry Dew living in mansion?”
Pei Jinchen dismissed the idea vehemently, “Impossible! Absolutely impossible!”
Jealousy can distort one’s view, and Pei Jinchen said boastfully, “Who can stand Qin Mohuai’s bad temper? This kind of domineering boyfriend is out of style. Cultured, gentle, and devoted boyfriends are the trend now!”
Yang Yi thought to himself: You gamble with your life racing cars, frequently attend high-society parties, and spend lavishly on rising starlets. That hardly aligns with the image of a cultured, devoted boyfriend.
Yang Yi then straightened his posture, realizing he might just be the real trendsetter.
Minutes later, someone discovered a Loro Piana off-white shawl that clearly belonged to a woman.
Such personal items, even if accidentally left at the mansion, would be tidied up by the servants.
The situation only confirmed one thing: he did indeed have a female mistress.
“I’ve heard the young master has someone living here.”
“It seems he’s been keeping her hidden for over half a year, never taking her out.”
“Why not take her out? Is she not presentable?”
In their circle, reputation and face mattered most. Having a girlfriend but not making her public meant she was not worthy and would become the subject of ridicule.
Pei Jinchen snorted, “An inflatable doll obviously can’t be shown off. When AI bioengineered replicas are created, then Qin Mohuai might actually deserve a girlfriend.”
Just then, Qin Mohuai walked down the curved stairs holding Xia Yuan’s hand and briefly introduced, “This is my wife, Xia Yuan.”
The crowd erupted in surprise.
Wasn’t Qin Mohuai’s fiancée supposed to be Ouyang Jing?
When did he get married and have a wife?
Pei Jinchen felt a mix of emotions. Qin Mohuai, that dog, actually had a girlfriend, while he didn’t. Was there any justice left?
During the lunch, Xia Yuan sat next to Qin Mohuai. Due to her social anxiety, all her attention was focused on him. She glanced at him frequently to feel secure. Normally, she wasn’t this clingy, but today was an exception.
To Pei Jinchen, the sight of her behaving so obediently was even more infuriating. It seemed as if Qin Mohuai had stolen his girlfriend.
Why should Qin Mohuai, who was always gloomy and cunning, have such a lovely and obedient wife? She even asked Qin Mohuai before having a sip of wine! Pei Jinchen felt the world had gone mad; it had to be an act.
