Chapter 47: She’s a Natural Green Tea
How could there be such a mischievous little fairy in the world, throwing tantrums while acting cute?
Half of Qin Mohuai’s anger from being blocked faded away, but it was a bad habit of hers. What if, one day, she blocked him on all platforms? That would be a disaster.
Qin Mohuai glanced at the two “mice” hiding in the shadows and snorted softly.
His cool, thin lips kissed Xia Yuan’s brow, like a gentle rain in a quiet mountain. His scent—woody notes of oud, cedarwood, and sandalwood—was deep and fresh.
“Let’s go home,” he said.
Xia Yuan obediently let him hold her hand, though her soft, pale face still showed defiance.
Was this dinner really that important to him? Qin Mohuai didn’t want to upset her over such a trivial matter, so in his low, magnetic voice, he said, “Don’t be mad. I’ll host next time and treat them to a meal.”
Once they were seated in the Cullinan, the composed and elegant man grabbed her chin and kissed her soft, petal-like lips with intensity. He kissed and sucked, as if her mouth were a honey pot, draining every drop.
“…Ow, it hurts.”
She had to complain several times before Qin Mohuai stopped, his rough fingertips gently brushing over her moist, soft red lips. “Earlier, you mentioned something about a concubine selection banquet. What did you mean?”
“You still have the nerve to ask?!”
Qin Mohuai thought for a moment and found the memory buried deep in his mind. While he had a sharp memory, not everything was worth remembering. The only reason this came to mind was because it involved Xia Yuan.
Anything concerning her was etched into his memory, clear and vivid. This would later become the source of his agony. When she left, his heartbeat stopped, but his mind kept torturing him with those vivid memories—sweet, touching moments that were so clear they felt like they had happened just yesterday. This drove him to the brink of madness, blurring the line between yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
“Why aren’t you saying anything?” Xia Yuan’s large, tear-filled eyes glared at him, and she couldn’t help but want to hit him. “So Ouyang Hongyi wasn’t lying? You really held a concubine selection banquet at Tianxi Club! You—you’re dirty! Don’t touch me!”
Ouyang Hongyi?
Qin Mohuai’s eyes darkened with cold fury. So, it was him who said this to Xia Yuan’s.
“That wasn’t a concubine selection banquet,” Qin Mohuai said, his tone softened, feeling somewhat guilty as he explained, “The first time we met, you were so bold and forward. I couldn’t help but react and, I’ve never felt something that strong before.”
“If it were just physical desire, I wouldn’t have touched you. I never let my desires control my mind. Men who can’t resist temptation or lust can’t succeed in business.”
“That night, I went to Tianxi Club to test myself. It was like you’d cast a spell on me—just looking at other women made me feel uncomfortable. The test results? It’s love at first sight. Because I liked you, I had this urge to possess you.”
The girl, who had been turning her back to him, couldn’t help but turn her head, drawn in by his low, sexy confession.
He was so good with words.
It was hard to believe that he was a 27-year-old man who had lived such a restrained life.
Facing this emotional crisis, he explained it all so clearly and managed to flirt with her in the process. His control over the situation was impressive.
He was supposed to be the target of her plan, the prey in her trap. Qin Mohuai should have been struggling, not… not handling everything so smoothly.
“You’re contradicting yourself. Didn’t you just say you wouldn’t be controlled by desire?” Xia Yuan bit her lip, trying to pick at his words. How could she forgive him so easily, even if part of her was already feeling a little happier?
Qin Mohuai smiled, his expression noble and gentle, exactly the way Xia Yuan liked.
“I’m not controlled by desire. I’m only controlled by you.”
He leaned in close, his lips slightly parted, revealing the tip of his crimson tongue against his palate. Their breaths mingled, the tension thick with restraint and intimacy.
Xia Yuan thought to herself, Good thing I’m not the one being seduced, or I’d be doomed in seconds.
The standalone villa at Shenghai Mansion was built in a Georgian style—red brick walls, bright windows, and glowing lights, shining brilliantly from a distance. Both day and night, the lights never dimmed, like a 19th-century steam engine, preparing to carry unforgettable memories.
Xia Yuan was in the shower while Qin Mohuai stood in the hallway, phone in hand, making a call.
“Have you found out everything?”
Qin Wu: “We’ve got it all figured out. It wasn’t rumors spread by the old man’s side—the news came from Qin Jingye.”
Qin Mohuai had previously accused Qin Jingye of being hospitalized in the ICU, and Qin Jingye retaliated by fabricating damaging rumors about Qin Mohuai.
Qin Mohuai sneered, “This widower, just because he lost his wife, he can’t stand to see anyone else happy. Forget him for now. I’ll deal with him when I’m free.”
Every day there seemed to be someone trying to stir up trouble—today it was one person, tomorrow it would be someone else. It was like no one could stand seeing him happy. His grandfather had called again, asking him to come home for dinner tomorrow night. Most likely, Ouyang Jing would be there at the table too. Qin Mohuai was tired of going in circles with his grandfather. Instead, he decided that tomorrow, he would take Xia Yuan to get their marriage license, and they could hold a proper wedding later.
Xia Yuan had been through a lot during this time.
Despite any challenges she faced, Xia Yuan always managed to eat and sleep well, treating herself kindly and never letting herself suffer. Qin Mohuai wasn’t sure what she was thinking. Was she pretending to be strong?
Before bed, Xia Yuan felt cozy from Qin Mohuai’s kisses. “Can you wake up with me tomorrow?” she asked.
“Baby, are you getting up at six?”
“I won’t make it, but could you wait for me? Every morning, you’re not by my side. It doesn’t feel like you’re treating me like your girlfriend. It’s more like you’re keeping a plaything.”
“A plaything? You think I treat you like that?”
Qin Mohuai flipped over and turned on the light. Standing by the bed, he looked down at Xia Yuan, his eyes slightly red with frustration.
“Sure, I don’t wait for you to wake up, but every day, I personally pick a blue rose for you, and I write a love note in French on a little card. Who would waste time doing that for a mere plaything?”
Xia Yuan scratched her head. “Oh, so you were the one sending those blue roses. Your French is amazing. I thought it was professionally done. Wait, I even saved one…”
Saved one?
Did that mean she threw the rest away?
Qin Mohuai was usually forgiving of her absent-mindedness, but during an argument, even small things could be blown out of proportion.
“I’m the one who’s your plaything! When you’re happy, you flatter me like a dog. When you’re upset, you trample on my sincerity. You’re driving me mad!”
He stormed out of the bedroom, afraid he might lose control and strangle her.
System: “You could’ve calmed him down just now.”
Xia Yuan murmured, “Yeah, I just needed to lie to make him happy.”
System: “Are you softening up? Have you fallen in love with your target? Are you planning to give up your life and tell him the truth?”
Xia Yuan scoffed, “What kind of joke is that?”
She had always known what she wanted. She wanted to go home, so she decided to continue deceiving Qin Mohuai.
Showing men the right amount of affection was good for her conscience. Showing too much would ruin her for life.
System: “…”
Suddenly, the system realized that Xia Yuan wasn’t some saintly woman—she was a natural-born green tea!
With a heart that pitied the world yet always acted in her own self-interest, she was indeed the perfect host he had handpicked.
Xia Yuan hadn’t just saved one card. Because the French cursive was so beautiful, she had unknowingly saved every single one. Not a single one was missing.
She clutched the stack of cards in her hand, ready to go and placate Qin Mohuai.
