Chapter 11 – Spiritual Spring Space
Xia Tian suddenly forgot to breathe, and her feet felt as though they were stuck to the ground, unable to move an inch.
As she watched the wild boar charging towards her, she opened her mouth to scream for help, but before she could even utter a sound, everything went black, and she fainted.
When she slowly regained consciousness, to her surprise, the expected pain didn’t come. Xia Tian was shocked, “Was I saved by someone?”
In such a life-threatening situation, she hadn’t had time to dodge, nor did she notice anyone around her.
Besides, when had she ever encountered such a dangerous scene? In her panic, she had fainted from fear.
Who saved her?
Xia Tian moved her limbs, feeling fine, then sat up, looking around. She didn’t see anyone and realized there were no trees nearby.
She patted the ground beneath her, and it felt solid, not like the forest on the mountain.
Where was this place? Xia Tian suddenly felt anxious.
Wait, why did it look misty in the distance? The weather was fine today; there shouldn’t be any fog.
The visible area around her was only about twenty meters wide.
Hmm?
Was that a well not far away?
Could it be her golden finger had appeared?
Was this her space?
Her heart racing, Xia Tian rushed toward the well.
As she got closer, she saw that it was a water well, and the water inside was almost level with the edge, though it hadn’t spilled over.
Excited, Xia Tian circled the well, searching carefully. Finally, she noticed two small characters written outside the well – “Spiritual Spring.”
“Hahaha, my golden finger has finally appeared!”
Xia Tian placed her hands on her hips and laughed skyward. She knew it! A space system was the standard for transmigrators, so how could it have missed her?
The night after she transmigrated, she had tried various ways to see if she had a golden finger.
But after a whole night of testing, nothing had happened, and she had been disappointed.
Luckily, though late, it had arrived!
It must have been triggered by the life-and-death moment just now, which brought forth this space.
After her excitement settled, Xia Tian carefully examined the surroundings of the Spiritual Spring again, making sure there was nothing else before stopping her search.
It seemed that this was a spiritual spring space.
Xia Tian crouched by the well, and the clear water reflected her face. It had been several days since she had seen what she looked like. Finally, she could confirm her appearance.
Before, she could only make out a rough outline, knowing she wasn’t unattractive. Now, she could finally rest easy.
At least her foundation wasn’t bad. She was still young, and with some care, she’d probably look quite good.
After a brief moment of vanity, Xia Tian extended her index finger and carefully dipped it in. Hmm, the water seemed just like ordinary water.
I wonder what it would feel like to drink a sip?
Based on her years of reading novels, spiritual springs were usually good things.
But she wasn’t sure if this one had the ability to cleanse the body and transform someone like in the stories.
Would it change her appearance dramatically after just one sip, like in the novels, where impurities were expelled from the inside out?
Although Xia Tian wanted to become more beautiful, she didn’t want to suddenly change in an alarming way—it would be too much of a shock.
She preferred gradual improvement.
After hesitating for a while, she couldn’t resist. She cupped her hands and took a small sip.
She closed her eyes, waiting for a moment. When she didn’t feel any change, she opened her eyes and held her hands in front of her, carefully inspecting them. There was no change.
Xia Tian felt a little disappointed. Could it be that this spiritual spring water didn’t have any effects?
Maybe it was because she drank so little, so she didn’t feel anything.
She thought about it for a while before letting it go.
No matter what, she now had a space.
In the future, if she encountered danger, she could hide in here. At least she had a life-saving skill now.
She wondered what time it was outside. Xia Tian didn’t want to waste any more time. She’d look into it further when she had time later.
Thinking “exit” in her mind, the scenery in front of her changed, and sure enough, she was back at the place where she had encountered the wild boar.
The novel didn’t deceive me after all!
Xia Tian couldn’t help but feel emotional. She quickly scanned her surroundings, and sure enough, there was no sign of the wild boar. It must have gone somewhere else.
She couldn’t stay here for long. Xia Tian determined the direction and quickly made her way back.
When she returned to the bamboo shoot digging spot, her basket and other items were still on the ground, showing no signs of being disturbed. It seemed no one had noticed she had left during her brief absence.
She continued digging for bamboo shoots for a while, filling the basket, covering it with a cloth, and placing a small bundle of firewood on top before carrying it down the mountain.
After a few steps, she suddenly realized something was off.
The basket seemed a lot lighter?
A full basket of bamboo shoots weighed at least eighty pounds, but she was carrying it with ease.
She had also been digging the shoots faster than before, but she hadn’t noticed it, probably because she was worried about encountering the wild boar again.
Xia Tian had a guess in her mind. Could it be that the sip of spiritual spring water had increased her strength?
Well, whether it had or not, she could test it out.
Seeing a bamboo tree nearby, she grabbed one that was about the size of her wrist. With a little effort, she easily pulled it out.
It seemed that the spiritual spring water did indeed enhance strength. At least after that small sip, it had added several hundred pounds of power to her.
As for any other effects, she’d have to wait and see as she explored it further.
Not wanting to delay any longer, Xia Tian hurried down the mountain toward home.
She didn’t stop along the way, and when she arrived home, she didn’t feel exhausted. It seemed that the spiritual spring was really a good thing. After just one small sip, it had such a miraculous effect.
She placed the basket down and went to the kitchen for a drink. Lifting the pot lid, she saw the rice had already been eaten, so it seemed that Shen Nian had had lunch.
Listening carefully, she didn’t hear any sounds, so she assumed Shen Nian was probably resting in her room.
Xia Tian moved quietly, made herself a simple lunch, and ate.
After a short rest in her room, she remembered that the water in the barrel was running low. She stood up and went outside to fetch water.
When she arrived at Sister Yao’s house, she saw Sister Yao sitting in the yard making shoe soles. They greeted each other and chatted for a while.
Today was market day for the nearby villages, and she had arranged with Sister Yao to go together.
While fetching water, she bumped into Aunt Chun and a few others, who were sitting under the shed near the well, making shoe soles. They greeted her warmly.
Seeing Xia Tian, a young girl, carrying a large wooden bucket to the well, they worried she might not be able to lift it, so they quickly put down their sewing to help.
But before they could offer assistance, Xia Tian swiftly filled the bucket with water and easily lifted it.
The others were astonished. “Wow, we didn’t know you had such strength. You lifted such a big bucket of water so easily!”
“Yeah, I’ve always had strong muscles. I work hard at home, so I’ve built up some strength,” Xia Tian explained with a smile.
They chatted for a while, and since everyone was going to the market, they agreed to meet up later. It would be more fun with more people.
When Xia Tian returned home with the water, she just reached the door when she heard a violent coughing sound from upstairs, along with rapid gasps.
Something was wrong—was Shen Nian in trouble?
Xia Tian dropped the bucket with a loud thud and rushed upstairs in a hurry.
