Chapter 64 Worry/Return
Awakened by the nightmare, Qian Xiaolan clutched her chest and sat up in bed, panting heavily. She had dreamt that Gu Yanqing, while leading his team to pursue enemy spies to the most remote island on the border, had accidentally stepped on a landmine, resulting in a gruesome explosion that left them mangled. Qian Xiaolan had never believed in ghosts or spirits before, but now, not only had she and Gu Yanqing been transported into a book, but she had also bound with the Trading Mall, allowing her to trade with multiple dimensions simultaneously.
Perhaps she should believe in some things now. Even if they weren’t real, it could provide some psychological comfort. Qian Xiaolan prayed to the air, and suddenly, she received a notification from the Trading Mall. It was a message from Gu Yanqing. In that moment, her heart leaped into her throat.
[Can you get me a set of diesel engines for a ship? I’ll exchange a small yellowfish for it. If you have any left, exchange some men’s spring clothes, and use the rest to exchange for wound medicine, anti-inflammatory drugs, and fever reducers.]
Since the medicines were listed last, it seemed that he wasn’t seriously injured. After reading the message, Qian Xiaolan felt a little reassured. She had a diesel engine, only 24 horsepower, which she had exchanged with Wenxuan before. At the time, she thought about getting a small boat someday and going for a ride, and now it was perfect for him. She quickly prepared the goods and put them on the shelves, but she still felt a little uneasy.
Suddenly, she ran back to the screen, several times reaching out to connect the video call, but ultimately stopping herself. No, what if his mission wasn’t over yet? If she suddenly appeared before him, it would distract him, making him even more dangerous. She knew that Gu Yanqing, with the Trading Mall at his disposal, wouldn’t have gone on a mission unprepared. Moreover, his nonchalant attitude towards trading medicine with her right now could only mean that he truly had some in stock.
Qian Xiaolan felt restless, and after waking up, she couldn’t sleep anymore. She couldn’t focus on reading either, so she simply went out to the field to tend to her medicinal herbs.
Meanwhile, on a remote island two hundred kilometers away from Qian Xiaolan, Gu Yanqing and his team of fifteen were rushing back to their ship after retrieving important information. Just five hours ago, they had tracked the enemy spies to this island. As they chased them up the mountain, one of their comrades accidentally stepped on a landmine. If it hadn’t been for Gu Yanqing’s quick thinking, dispersing the team and driving them away while he stayed behind to disarm the bomb, they would have suffered heavy casualties. Gu Yanqing gave a strict order, “Move forward quickly! Don’t look back!” When he could no longer see them, Gu Yanqing knocked out his comrade with a hand chop and dragged him into his space. This mine was extremely difficult to disarm, so it was better to hide first. After the mine exploded, they would reappear amidst the chaos. He thought his team had escaped unscathed.
However, the enemy spies had reinforcements waiting ahead, and they were numerous, having set up a trap to ambush them. Hearing gunshots, he shoved his comrade back into his space. When he caught up with his team, both sides were engaged in a fierce battle. Seeing his team trapped and struggling against the enemy, Gu Yanqing’s eyes turned red with anger. He hid out of sight, taking out two key enemies with one shot each. The pressure on his team eased immediately.
When they realized it was him, they were both surprised and disappointed, “Boss!” “Focus on the enemy, Anan is waiting for us.” Gu Yanqing’s words immediately brought tears to the eyes of his team members, and also ignited their fighting spirit. Gu Yanqing knew they had misunderstood, but he didn’t explain. He raised his gun and charged into the fray, fighting alongside his team, keeping an eye on everything, eliminating enemy spies one after another.
After taking down everyone, they confiscated their weapons and searched all their bodies. Finally, they found the stolen confidential information on an inconspicuous man. The mission was complete. They quickly headed back after treating their wounds, but they couldn’t go fast, as six of them had been shot. Thankfully, the wounds weren’t fatal. Gu Yanqing and the other comrades helped the injured back to the shore. From afar, they saw their ship drifting at sea, and the men they had left to guard it were nowhere to be seen. Gu Yanqing frowned, called two good swimmers to go with him to check, and the others hid. The three of them took a detour, jumped into the sea, swam over, and observed for a long time, but found no abnormalities. Then they climbed aboard the ship. After seeing the situation on the ship, they all fell silent.
His men were fine, just knocked unconscious. But for this mission, to avoid exposure, they had used a large fishing boat. Now, the diesel engine on the fishing boat, along with all the fishing nets, had been stolen! It was absurd. A Navy Marine Corps mission boat had been stolen by petty thieves! Gu Yanqing’s face darkened as he woke up his comrades and asked about what happened. They told him that the night before, out of kindness, he had rescued a child who had fallen into the water. After dragging the child ashore, he was knocked unconscious.
Gu Yanqing couldn’t say that his actions were wrong, he just felt helpless. Thankfully, the oars were still there. They rowed the boat to shore. Gu Yanqing left two men to take care of the injured, while he and the others split up to find a way to borrow a boat from the locals. Otherwise, rowing back such a long distance, the injured would definitely be in worse shape. There were many Vietnamese enemy spies on this island, and they couldn’t go to the hospital here.
After separating from his team, Gu Yanqing found a place to sit down and opened the Trading Mall for help. This led to the message Qian Xiaolan received. After sending the message, Gu Yanqing was actually a little unsure. While the Trading Mall was amazing, he thought that even with its magic, there had to be a procurement process. It couldn’t just appear out of thin air, right? Moreover, diesel engines were not commonly used, so it was unlikely the other party would have them in stock.
To his surprise, the other party actually had them. Gu Yanqing breathed a sigh of relief, hid the diesel engine in a secluded spot, and rushed back to call his men to carry the boat up. By the time they finally installed the diesel engine, more than an hour had passed. The six injured were already starting to weaken. They sped up the boat and finally reached the base before lunchtime.
*Qian Xiaolan focused all her attention on planting and tending her flowers, and her mind quickly calmed down. After working for a few hours, she felt sleepy, so she went back to her little space and took a nap. After waking up, she left the space, put on her backpack, and went into the mountains. She had told her patients two days ago that she would be going up the mountain to collect herbs this morning, and that they would have to wait until the afternoon for consultations. Actually, she didn’t really need to collect herbs, she just had a craving for wild rabbits lately. Plus, she had been exhausted these past few days, so going up the mountain today would be a good way to relax and catch some cute little rabbits.
Before, she hadn’t deliberately caught rabbits when she went up the mountain, and of course, she didn’t have the protagonist’s halo, so no rabbits had come to her doorstep. She spent four or five hours wandering around the mountain, and then she activated her space cheat device. Rabbits were everywhere, she was digging them out by the nest, she was having a blast, completely oblivious to the fact that an emergency patient had arrived at the clinic, and a group of people were anxiously running up the mountain to find her.
