Chapter 157: Not Clear-headed

When Luo Qiao arrived in the city, she first went to the security office of the pharmaceutical factory to ask for help finding someone. With such a large factory, she had no idea which workshop Gao Baozhu was in.

The elderly man at the security office was very kind and asked several employees who were coming and going before finding out that Gao Baozhu was in Workshop 6th. He then asked someone from Workshop 5th to pass the message to Gao Baozhu that someone was waiting for him at the gate.

Out of gratitude, Luo Qiao took a handful of red dates from her pocket and gave them to the elderly man as a thank-you gift, to which he responded that she was being too polite.

Gao Baozhu came rushing out and saw Luo Qiao standing at the gate. “Luo Qiao, what are you doing here?”

Seeing that Gao Baozhu looked well, Luo Qiao asked, “Brother Gao, are you getting used to working at the factory?”

Gao Baozhu laughed honestly, “It’s great. Working here is less tiring than working in the fields at home. Luo Qiao, thank you.”

Luo Qiao handed him the package prepared by Aunt Gao, “Brother Gao, this is something Aunt Gao asked me to bring you.”

Hearing that his mother had sent something, Gao Baozhu’s face lit up with a smile.

After chatting with Gao Baozhu for a few more minutes, Luo Qiao left the pharmaceutical factory, not forgetting to say goodbye to the elderly man at the security office.

Luo Qiao went directly to the Housing Management Bureau and found Lu Yichen’s comrade, Ding Xiangdong. After explaining her purpose, Ding Xiangdong stared at Luo Qiao curiously for a long time, with a somewhat strange expression on his face.

It turned out that before Luo Qiao arrived, Lu Yichen had called Ding Xiangdong, instructing him to find a safe, quiet place with good security, and not to mention that he had called.

Ding Xiangdong asked, “You’re Luo Qiao, right? Which area are you looking to buy a house in?”

Luo Qiao replied, “Around the No. 1 High School.”

Ding Xiangdong said, “Please sit and wait for a moment. I’ll check if there are any suitable houses.”

After nodding and thanking him, Luo Qiao sat down on a chair in the office.

Shortly after Ding Xiangdong left his office, a young woman came in. Seeing Luo Qiao sitting there, her smiling face suddenly changed. “Who are you? Why are you here?”

Luo Qiao replied, “I’m here to see Comrade Ding Xiangdong about some business.”

After speaking, Luo Qiao didn’t say anything more. The young woman asked, “What business do you have with him?”

Luo Qiao replied with a question, “Are you also an employee in this office?”

The young woman was taken aback and said, “Why should I tell you?”

Hearing this, Luo Qiao stopped paying attention to her, thinking to herself that this person was another busybody with nothing better to do.

The young woman, seeing Luo Qiao’s silence, asked, “Why aren’t you answering my question?”

Luo Qiao thought to herself that she must have had bad luck today to encounter someone so clueless.

Luo Qiao said, “Since you are not an employee here, do I need to answer your questions?”

The young woman said, “I warn you, stay away from Ding Xiangdong. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being rude.”

Luo Qiao frowned and replied, “I was just introduced to Comrade Ding Xiangdong for a favor. I don’t know why you’re warning me.”

The young woman asked, “Who introduced you to him?”

Luo Qiao found the situation rather tiresome and thought it was getting out of hand.

Thinking it would be better to ask the office staff in the first floor lobby, she stood up and started walking out. The young woman, seeing Luo Qiao leaving, thought she must be feeling guilty and grabbed her arm, saying, “You haven’t explained yourself yet. You can’t leave.”

Luo Qiao, feeling annoyed, shook off the young woman’s grip on her arm and said, “Are you out of your mind?”
