Chapter 180: Arrested
After completing their registration, the police officers followed the village secretary who hurried to Sun Baoqing’s house.
Sun Baoqing had dashed home upon hearing about the missing items earlier. However, upon his return, he found the door firmly shut, which only fueled his growing frustration.
This bitch Kong Yuru must have thought that by locking the door, the police wouldn’t find her, thinking she could evade trouble. But now, whether she stole or not didn’t matter anymore. Once caught, conviction seemed inevitable.
This could be considered fleeing in fear of crime!
Angrily, he kicked the large poplar tree in front of the door, yelping in pain as he jumped on one foot for a while.
When the secretary and the police arrived, this was the scene they encountered. They had heard earlier that Kong Yuru had returned home, so they demanded Sun Baoqing open the door so they could conduct a search.
When Sun Baoqing said that he didn’t have the key, the people in the village looked at him with disdain. Whether he truly didn’t have it or was lying, no one believed him.
If he didn’t have the key to his own door, who would believe that? Everyone thought he was just trying to buy time.
Mrs. Sun was still formidable; she fetched a hammer from her eldest son’s room and quickly smashed the lock open.
The police searched inside for a long time but found nothing. Meanwhile, Lu Yichen settled things at home and didn’t let Shitou come over, fearing he might get hurt again, so he stayed home.
Luo Qiao brought some food in a basket for Shitou to eat first and then headed to Sun’s house herself. She was curious about what Kong Yuru had taken from Lu Yichen’s place.
When Lu Yichen arrived, the police were about to leave empty-handed. He went straight into the yard and carefully searched around. He had them dig in several places he pointed out.
They found nothing after digging in several places, but unexpectedly, Kong Yuru, a talented person, managed to hide Lu Yichen’s lost jade pendant under a stone pillar in the middle of the yard.
Now everyone in the village was convinced that Kong Yuru had fled in fear with money, hiding in a remote place.
In fact, she was scared, especially after being beaten by Sun Baoqing. She wanted to go back to her parents’ home to hide and also take care of her wounds.
So, an hour later, not far from Qingshan Village, Kong Yuru was taken away by the police in terror. Kong’s parents nearly fainted upon learning that their daughter had committed theft.
Now, Kong Yuru’s previous actions were also exposed: she extorted compensation from her younger sister-in-law, maliciously scalded her nephew severely with boiling noodle soup, refused compensating medical treatment, and finally drove him out of the house and handed him over to others.
Now, taking advantage of the absence of adults, she committed robbery and theft. Kong Yuru’s maternal relatives were also affected, and people came to the Kong family’s door to curse them for raising such a malicious daughter.
The elderly couple in the Kong family couldn’t bear the shock and fell ill. They didn’t blame the villagers for cursing them; after all, they were well aware of the severity of the situation before. However, they hadn’t properly disciplined their daughter before.
It’s useless to pretend to be sick for sympathy. The villagers’ criticism intensified. Even Kong Yuru’s brother and sister-in-law dared not show their faces in public. It was too embarrassing.
The most affected were Kong’s two eldest granddaughters; their prospective marriages were all called off because the villagers believed Kong’s daughter was too malicious. This enraged Kong’s brother and sister-in-law.
They went straight to the local police station and cursed Kong Yuru to the point of wishing her dead. They vowed that she would have no relationship with the Kong family, alive or dead, and that she would never step foot in their house again.
