Chapter 194: Playing a Trick

Luo Qiao and Lu Yichen stood by the bus, watching as everyone got off. They closed the bus doors and left the scene.

As they were passing by the nearby bus station, they decided to leave a note for the station staff. The station needed someone to move the bus; leaving it there wasn’t an option.

Leaving the hospital, they overheard the eccentric woman still complaining about her losses today. Her son retorted, “Are you done yet? It’s more convenient to get off here. If we wait till the station, we’ll have to come back. Just cross the road, and we’re there.”

The woman replied, “But I only remember the road from the station. I have no idea how to get there from here.”

Luo Qiao burst out laughing immediately, thinking to herself that this woman had the memory of a dead donkey.

However, recalling how this woman wanted to insult her on the bus, and seeing the clear road ahead, she flicked a small stone in her hand towards the station where a bus was picking up passengers. Seizing the opportunity, she aimed it well.

Lu Yichen sensed Luo Qiao’s recent action and turned to look at her, about to ask what she had just done.

Suddenly, there was a cry of “Ah!” followed by several more “Ah ah ah ah ah…”

Luo Qiao burst into laughter when she saw the woman’s reaction. The woman was kneeling on one knee, her knee landing right on a fresh cow dung just dropped by an ox.

That’s not even the point. The point is, in her desperation for support, the woman also pressed her hand into a pile of cow dung, which made her scream in shock repeatedly.

Luo Qiao snorted and said, “You got off easy. You’ve wasted such a precious thing.”

Turning around, she walked in the direction she needed to go, ignoring the woman thereafter. She was just a passerby. The woman continued to scream behind them, but they had already walked far away.

Lu Yichen looked at Luo Qiao and said, “Got your revenge, feeling good?”

Luo Qiao replied, “That woman deserved it from the start. You could tell she had a twisted mind, or else she wouldn’t have been so disgusting.”

Lu Yichen withdrew his gaze and walked ahead. “You’ve got skills.”

Luo Qiao smiled and didn’t reply. They arrived at the bus station, approached the duty room, briefly explained the situation, and then left.

Luo Qiao said, “Brother Lu, if you have something to do, go ahead. I can handle things later.”

Lu Yichen said, “No rush for me. I’ll check what needs fixing at the house first, so I have an idea. I’ll take care of buying materials on the way.”

He had business in the city today, but going there later would still be fine.

Arriving at the house, Lu Yichen remarked, “This area is quite close to No. 1 Middle School and the environment is not bad.”

In his mind, he thought, ‘Most importantly, it’s not too far from my own place. I can always come back here to freeload meals, especially since I’ve tasted Luo Qiao’s cooking. I really don’t want to eat my own food anymore.’

Opening the courtyard gate, the two carefully inspected the yard. Luo Qiao was right; there wasn’t much that needed fixing. It was clear that the previous owner cherished this house.

In the backyard, various vegetables were still growing. Grandpa Li had mentioned leaving the vegetables in the backyard for her. Before leaving that day, she had made a special trip to the backyard to sprinkle some water from the well in the area, fearing they might wither after the elderly couple left without someone to water them.

Now it seemed the elderly couple had indeed watered the vegetables before leaving. They were truly kind-hearted.

Luo Qiao spoke up, “Brother Lu, there isn’t much that needs fixing in this yard, but I think we should build a dry toilet in the backyard.”
