Luo Qiao got busy in her space, preparing meat pies, scallion cakes, steamed buns, stuffed buns, and flower rolls. She also steamed some noodles mixed with two kinds of grains for storage, preparing for any emergencies.

She caught a small wild boar weighing about a hundred pounds from the mountain, and directly processed it. She made a lot of dried meat—five-spice, spicy, and also prepared a lot of meat sauce, chili sauce, and mushroom sauce for storage.

Finally, she cooked eight-treasure porridge, rice porridge, and millet porridge to store. After finishing, she felt completely exhausted.

She used the well water from her space to boil a pot of water, took a hot bath, and then tidied up before leaving the space. After checking the time, she saw that it was almost eight in the evening, so she quickly disguised herself and headed toward the courtyard outside the city.

Upon arriving, she circled the area a few times to ensure it was safe before entering the house. Just as she started moving her things, she heard someone approaching.

She immediately spotted Ning Rui. The transaction was quick, and she received 216 yuan. After watching the car drive away, Luo Qiao packed up and quickly headed home. As she approached her neighborhood, she saw two elderly women wearing red armbands coming out.

Wanting to avoid trouble, she found a secluded spot, entered her space, removed her disguise, and returned to her original appearance. She thought that the people had left and exited her space.

However, when she reached the alley in front of her house, she saw a bicycle lying on the ground and heard someone groaning. It was clear that the fall was severe. Although it was getting late, she couldn’t just ignore it.

Knowing she had the means to defend herself if needed, she approached and asked, “Do you need any help?”

The person, having recovered a bit, replied, “Please go to the fifth house ahead, the one with the red wooden door, and ask them to come out and help me.”

Luo Qiao responded, “Alright.”

She hurried to the house, knocked on the door, and heard someone from inside say, “Why are you so late? We’ve been waiting for you for ages. The noodles are going to burn…”

When the door opened, she saw it wasn’t her husband. Instead, a beautiful young woman stood there. “Miss, who are you looking for?” the woman asked.

Luo Qiao said, “Auntie, there’s an uncle who fell at the end of the alley. He asked me to find someone to help him.”

Qu Meimei became a bit panicked and shouted into the yard, “Jiang Bo, Jiang Hong, come out quickly! Your dad has fallen in the alley, go see if he’s alright!”

Two young men ran out of the yard and headed towards the alley.

Qu Meimei approached and asked, “Old Jiang, are you alright? How did you fall?”

The man on the ground said, “I don’t know which child left a stone in the alley. When I turned, it was a bit sloped, and I went right over.”

Jiang Bo asked, “Dad, can you move? If you can, I’ll carry you to the hospital. If not, I’ll go borrow a stretcher to lift you.”

The man on the ground, Jiang Dongli, Qu Meimei’s husband, replied, “It’s nothing serious. Just twisted my ankle and probably scraped my knee, but that’s all.”

Knowing her husband was alright, Qu Meimei turned to Luo Qiao and said, “Young lady, thank you so much. Otherwise, our old Jiang would have had to lie here a while longer.”

Seeing that the man was fine, Luo Qiao said, “It was just a small effort. I’ll leave now, and you should hurry to take Uncle to the hospital.”

As she turned to leave, Qu Meimei stopped her, “Young lady, where do you live? I’d like to come by and thank you properly later.”

Luo Qiao smiled and said, “Auntie, it’s really no big deal, no need to thank me. Besides, I’m leaving for a trip tomorrow, so it’s quite inconvenient. But if you’re free in September, I live in the third house down the alley behind, you’re welcome to visit.”

Qu Meimei asked, “Did you buy Old Li’s house?”

Luo Qiao smiled lightly, “Yes, Auntie. If you have anything to discuss, we can talk about it later. You should take Uncle to the hospital now.”

Qu Meimei said, “Yes, yes, yes. I’m Qu Meimei, and my sister is Qu Lili.”

Luo Qiao then realized why Qu Lili had brought her directly to the house when she bought it. She smiled and said, “So you’re Sister Qu’s sister. No wonder your name earlier was a bit confusing.”
