Chapter 280: Returning to Beijing
Luo’s Aunt Qiao Juan heard from colleagues at work and decided to remind Luo Tianming and his wife. However, she was met with Feng Hui’s sarcastic remarks, suggesting that Qiao Juan was trying to ruin Luo Bin’s reputation and meddling in other people’s business. This left Qiao Juan feeling sullen for several days.
—
Before boarding the train, Luo Qiao glanced back at the direction of the farm, thinking she should return to visit when she has time.
After finding her seat and settling in, she sighed, wondering what the meeting with the Luo family would be like.
The clattering sound of the train carried her thoughts away. She didn’t know if the Luo family would accept her wholeheartedly, but she had set a rule for herself: to always remain rational.
After a night on the train, it arrived at the station just past seven in the morning. Luo Qiao, carrying only a cross-body bag with a change of clothes, disembarked with the crowd.
As soon as she left the station, she heard someone calling, “Qiaoqiao, here, here, Fourth Brother is here.”
Seeing someone running towards her, Luo Qiao recognized him and said, “Fourth Brother, how did you know I was on this train?”
Luo Siyuan replied, “You said you’d arrive on the 2nd, right? I checked all the trains coming from that side and thought you might be on this one, so I came early to wait for you.
I was planning to wait at the station all day, but I didn’t expect you to take this train, I’m really grateful. Let’s go home.”
Luo Qiao nodded gently. Before disembarking, she had used the restroom as a cover to freshen up in the space, so she didn’t look like she had been on a train all night.
Luo Siyuan looked at his delicate sister and said, “Third Brother won’t be back until tonight. He’s at the army base and can’t take leave during the day.”
Luo Qiao suddenly remembered their eldest and second brothers, whom she had only heard about once: “Can I visit the eldest and second brothers this time?”
Luo Siyuan fell silent for a moment, then said, “Qiaoqiao, I’ll talk to Grandpa and Grandma about it later. Don’t bring it up in front of everyone. I’m afraid Mom might get sick again.”
Luo Qiao replied, “Got it. If it’s inconvenient, forget it. I don’t want to cause trouble.”
Luo Siyuan gave a bitter smile, “It’s fine, I’ll talk to Grandpa and Grandma. I think they will agree.”
An hour later, Luo Siyuan led Luo Qiao to the family quarters of the machinery factory. Along the way, they encountered many neighbors who greeted Luo Siyuan warmly: “Siyuan, who’s this?”
With a big smile, Luo Siyuan patiently introduced her to everyone: “This is my younger sister, Luo Qiao.”
“Oh my, so this is the top scorer from this year’s middle school exams in Ji City? Siyuan, your family might have a future university student. She’s so pretty, much prettier than Jianing.”
“No wonder Deputy Director Luo looked so cheerful today. Turns out his daughter is coming home.”
“She’s staying, right? It’s better to live with family.”
Amidst the greetings, Luo Qiao followed Luo Siyuan into the Luo family’s courtyard. It was a two-story house with a garden filled with flowers and plants, giving it an elegant appearance.
As soon as they entered the gate, an elderly couple with white hair came out to greet them. When Zhou Guifang saw Luo Qiao, her eyes immediately reddened. “Child, welcome home.”
Luo Siyuan quickly introduced them, “Qiaoqiao, this is Grandma and Grandpa.”
Luo Qiao softly greeted, “Hello, Grandpa, Grandma.”
Zhou Guifang couldn’t hold back her emotions, and tears began to fall as she choked out, “Good, good, it’s good that you’re home, so good.”
Seeing his wife cry, Luo Daoren’s heart grew heavy. He quickly said, “Come inside, come inside. We should be happy that the child is home.”
Wiping her tears with a handkerchief, Zhou Guifang said, “I’ve really gotten old. I can’t handle anything emotionally anymore. I’m just so happy to see my granddaughter home. Come on, child, your grandpa is right. We should be happy, let’s go inside.”
Once everyone escorted Luo Qiao into the house, Luo Siyuan began to introduce the rest of the family: “Qiaoqiao, this is Uncle Luo Haoxuan, Aunt Song Shiya, and younger Uncle Luo Haoqing and Aunt Gu Hongjuan.”
Luo Qiao politely greeted, “Hello, Uncle, Aunt. Hello, younger Uncle and Aunt, I’m Luo Qiao.”
