The female police officer nearby explained, “Because the road was somewhat remote, there were only a dozen or so eyewitnesses at the time, most of whom came out upon hearing the shout. That’s why we need your cooperation. Our department is already gathering evidence, so we hope you can understand.”

Luo Qiao nodded in understanding. The people who had helped transport the injured had already given their statements and left after providing their addresses. Now, outside the emergency room, there were only three police officers left besides Luo Qiao.

Luo Qiao said, “Officers, there’s no need to arrange anything for me. The family of the person inside hasn’t arrived yet, and I can’t leave for the time being anyway. I’ll stay here to look after him. By tomorrow, at the latest by four o’clock, I have to leave. By then, his family should also have arrived. Actually, this comrade might not wake up immediately after the surgery today. But just in case something happens, at least there’s someone here to look after him. Anyway, she can’t leave.

Thankfully, the person was okay. Luo Qiao wondered what happened to that car.

The nurse instructed her to keep an eye on the IV drip and call if it ran out.

Luo Qiao couldn’t stand how disheveled she looked. She asked the elderly lady next to the bed to keep an eye on things and went to tidy herself up.

The elderly lady was quite friendly. Seeing that Luo Qiao only had a basket, she willingly let her use her own basin.

After thanking her, Luo Qiao took the enamel basin from the elderly lady’s home and went to the water room. Earlier, using the basket as a cover, she had taken a clean towel and a change of clothes from her space.

She roughly washed up in the water room, and with the nurse’s help, she found a place to change her clothes. Although she knew there was no surveillance now, she couldn’t be careless. It was impossible to access the space in a hospital with such dense personnel.

Once she tidied herself up, she returned to the ward. After returning the basin to the elderly lady, Luo Qiao used the basket as cover to take out two dried red dates as a thank-you gift for the elderly lady.

The elderly lady was cheerful and accepted them with a smile, saying it was too kind of Luo Qiao. Red dates were indeed good things, and she kept thanking Luo Qiao.

Luo Qiao was not short in stature to begin with, and during this period, she had gained some weight from eating well, so she wasn’t as thin as before. She was generous in speech and action, and everyone thought she had a fresh and youthful appearance.
