Chapter 67: Encounter with Intellectually Disabled

Luo Qiao took a towel and stepped out of the ward. She washed her face in the bathroom, tied her hair into a ponytail, tidied herself up, and then returned to the ward. She asked Qiao Yu if he needed someone to help him to the restroom.

Seeing him shake his head, her heart raced, but she remained calm on the surface. She picked up the bamboo tube used for porridge yesterday and left the ward.

First, she found a public telephone not far from the hospital and called Song Wenbin, Qiao Yu’s cousin who taught at No. 1 Middle School. She informed him about Qiao Yu’s situation.

Afterwards, she found a place nearby to have a simple breakfast. She brought back porridge in the bamboo tube, a boiled egg, and four steamed buns. Now, the little money she had left was spent cleanly.

Last night, the porridge Luo Qiao gave to Qiao Yu was taken from her spatial storage, but his porridge was made with water from the spatial well. She couldn’t let him eat too much to avoid causing trouble for herself later.

Back in the ward, she asked the male attendant on the neighboring bed to help Qiao Yu sit up. After thanking him, she turned to Qiao Yu and asked, “Would you like to eat by yourself or shall I feed you?”

Don’t misunderstand, because Comrade Qiao Yu’s right arm was also injured, and lifting it might reopen the wound.

Qiao Yu motioned for Luo Qiao to come over and recounted how she had saved him. Unexpectedly, when Song Wenbin glanced at Luo Qiao, he expressed disdain and said, “Is this another one trying to climb the social ladder?”

Although his voice wasn’t loud, Luo Qiao and the mother-son pair in the neighboring bed heard it clearly.

Luo Qiao chuckled as if amused by his lack of understanding and said, “Comrade Qiao, since your relative has arrived, I should take my leave. But before I go, shouldn’t I be reimbursed for the medical expenses I paid?”

Saying this, she took out the payment receipt from yesterday and handed it over.

Then she added, “As for the meal expenses from last night and this morning, consider it my treat. After all, you’re a selfless hero. Let me treat you.”

Then she placed the bamboo tube and spoon on the table and said, “These are for you. After all, there aren’t any cups here right now for drinking. Don’t worry, these are clean and haven’t been used before. You can throw them away later when you have a cup.”

Since these had already been used by Qiao Yu, Luo Qiao wasn’t planning to take them back. If Qiao Yu didn’t want them, she would just take them out and dispose of them.
