Chapter 2
Gu Changzheng knew that Su Ya was a doctor. However, he had heard that Lu Xiao’s little wife was acting irresponsibly regardless of the occasion or location, causing unrest in the army and the family compound.
Although Gu Changzheng was under pressure to solve the murder case, he was indeed a little embarrassed when facing Su Ya.
“Director Gu!”
Su Ya stood opposite Gu Changzheng and saw a group of people in camouflage uniforms coming down the mountain from a distance. But she didn’t expect that the leader actually knew Gu Changzheng.
Gu Changzheng looked back and saw that it was Lu Xiao.
Lu Xiao: “What happened?”
Lu Xiao saw Gu Changzheng’s somewhat embarrassed expression, and then glanced at Su Ya who was standing opposite Gu Changzheng, thinking that Su Ya was causing trouble here for Gu Changzheng.
But when he came closer and listened to Gu Changzheng’s brief account of what had just happened, he was a little surprised.
I never expected that Su Ya was actually asking Gu Changzheng to let her dissect the body.
Although Su Ya was a bit pretentious, Lu Xiao had never heard of her finding any problems when she treated other patients. So her medical skills should be reliable.
Lu Xiao looked at the weather and said:
“It will rain heavily tonight. If Director Gu is in a hurry to handle the case, maybe you can let her try.”
Su Ya was curious about who this person was and why he would speak up for her.
She tried hard to recall and was stunned.
This man was the original owner’s military officer husband who came here for free.
Ever since Lu Xiao greeted Gu Changzheng, they have looked at each other many times, but Lu Xiao didn’t seem to want to talk to her.
In that case, there is no need for her to try to please someone else.
She just waited quietly for Gu Changzheng to speak.
Gu Changzheng thought Lu Xiao would help him reject Su Ya’s request, but he didn’t expect him to suggest that Su Ya give it a try.
It seems that the relationship between the couple is not that bad. At least, Lu Xiao still protects Su Ya outside.
But he knew that Lu Xiao was not a partial person.
If Su Ya really had no skills, Lu Xiao would definitely not let Su Ya try.
Since Lu Xiao could suggest that Su Ya give it a try, it means that his little wife is somewhat capable.
“Okay, let’s try it.”
Su Ya breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that she had gotten the opportunity.
Now, as long as she can successfully demonstrate her true ability and assist the Municipal Bureau in solving the case, she will have the opportunity to change jobs.
She asked the man who had stopped her for the protective clothing, disposable hoods, gloves, shoe covers and dissection tools used for autopsy.
But in the end, all she got was a pair of disposable gloves and a tool box.
“That’s all.”
Liu Ming felt that women were trouble. It was just an autopsy, why was he so pretentious?
She was so disgusted, yet she insisted on saying she wanted to dissect the body. If she was a whore, why bother to build a memorial arch for her? Liu Ming sneered in his heart.
Su Ya raised her eyebrows, remembering that the methods of scene protection were not yet popular in the 1970s, so she didn’t say much.
She tore a strip of cloth from her clothes and used it to tie up her hair to prevent her hair from falling on the scene and adding unnecessary workload.
Then he put on the gloves that Liu Ming had just thrown to him and walked towards the corpse.
Lu Xiao, who was observing all this silently from the side, couldn’t help but feel a little surprised.
One reason was that Su Ya didn’t rush over to him when she saw him.
Second, she was not angry when faced with Liu Ming’s somewhat contemptuous expression and disrespectful actions towards her.
Maybe this is how she usually works. Thinking about it this way, he seemed to have never seen Su Ya working.
It seems that I didn’t know her well enough before and didn’t take good care of her.
If you think from her perspective, she has suffered a lot of injustice. It is understandable that she is making a fuss.
“You guys go down first.”
Lu Xiao asked his subordinates to go back first and stayed to watch Su Ya work.
Su Ya, who put on the gloves, didn’t care whether Lu Xiao was still there. At this moment, she only had eyes for the bulging corpse.
Just based on the stench of the highly decomposed corpse, it was no wonder that Liu Ming, as a forensic doctor, vomited. It was indeed quite smelly.
However, Su Ya, who had experienced big scenes before, simply frowned and began to check the condition of the corpse.
First she looked around the body. The wild flowers and grasses along the edge of the ditch showed no signs of being trampled or crushed.
After taking a quick look at the surrounding situation, Su Ya shifted her gaze to the corpse.
The corpse was so swollen that its eyeballs almost popped out of its sockets. Su Ya used her fingers to pry open the corpse’s mouth and found that its tongue was dark purple.
Afterwards, Su Ya noticed that there were marks of strangulation on the neck of the corpse, apparently someone had strangled the neck with something before death.
Lu Xiao, who was standing by, saw that Su Ya was able to deal with such a highly decomposed corpse without changing her expression, and he looked at her with a different eye.
From this perspective, it seems that his pretentious little wife is not completely useless.
Su Ya continued to observe the clothes the corpse was wearing. They were the common pajamas of the 1970s, made of pure cotton, with long sleeves and long pants.
“This is most likely not the first scene. Judging from the pajamas on the deceased, the deceased was most likely killed while sleeping. The place where the deceased slept is most likely her home or temporary residence.
There was nothing on the victim that could prove her identity, but the murderer must be someone who was very familiar with the area and knew that the sewers here had been in disrepair for many years and the stench could more or less cover up the smell of decaying corpse.
Moreover, vehicles could not enter this place, and there were no wheel marks of a 28-liter truck on the ground. It was highly likely that the murderer carried the body to the sewer.
This process is quite time-consuming and laborious, and there is also a high risk of being seen by other people on the way here, so the deceased’s residence, which is our speculated first crime scene, should not be far from here.
Judging from the weather conditions in early May and the degree of decomposition of the body, it was at least four days since the victim was killed.
Although there are strangulation marks on the deceased’s neck, whether these strangulation marks are the final cause of death can only be determined after the autopsy. Director Gu is also requested to arrange for someone to send the body to a nearby morgue.
In addition, if a woman disappeared for three or four days and no one reported it to the police, she probably lived alone. Either she was not a local and did not have frequent contact with her family, or…the crime was committed by family members who knew each other very well.
Director Gu can send people to verify the identity of the deceased from these two directions.”
Liu Ming, the city’s forensic doctor who witnessed the whole process, was dumbfounded.
This… the body hasn’t even been opened yet, and you already know so much information?
“You just looked around and touched the body, and you came to this conclusion?”
Su Ya looked at Liu Ming’s expression and tone when he spoke. Although he didn’t say it explicitly, it was obvious that he didn’t believe it.
Although Gu Changzheng agreed to let Su Ya dissect the body, the problem is that she hasn’t done it yet. I don’t know if this conclusion is reliable.
What’s more, they don’t have a morgue here.
“Comrade Su, we don’t have a morgue here. However, there is a temporary place to store bodies at the crematorium. Can we perform the autopsy there?”
Su Ya almost forgot that in this era, there was not even a decent morgue.
She nodded towards Gu Changzheng. After all, there was a place, and it wasn’t an operation, so there was no need to be so particular.
But compared to the autopsy, Su Ya is more worried now that the heavy rain tonight may destroy important evidence.
