Chapter 3
She tried hard to recall the plot of the original novel. The reason why the old forensic doctor in Shanghai failed to find the key evidence was because they later found the temporary residence of the deceased somewhere halfway up the mountain.
The heavy rain tonight was accompanied by strong winds, and the house was blown down and washed away by the rain.
This shows that the house where the deceased lived was a dangerous building. It is rare to see a house on the hillside that can collapse at the slightest gust of wind.
“The deceased’s shoes were badly worn out, which is usually caused by frequent ups and downs of the mountain. Director Gu can arrange some people to look for a house halfway up the mountain.
After all, as a woman, it is unlikely that I would live on the top of a mountain, because it would be too physically demanding to go up and down the mountain.”
Gu Changzheng seemed to be thinking about something. Su Ya’s idea was very clear. There were indeed not many single women living halfway up the mountain.
Since the idea is clear, it shouldn’t take up too much time to arrange one or two people to look for it.
“Li Hai, Wang Jian. The two of you should investigate as quickly as possible according to the clues provided by Su Ya.”
In fact, Li Hai has always looked down on Liu Ming. Although he is a forensic doctor, the results he produces are often unreliable.
But today, when he saw Su Ya touching the highly decomposed corpse without blinking despite the pungent smell, he thought this girl was very good.
At least he is much better than that idiot in their own bureau.
At least he didn’t vomit, right?
“yes!”
Li Hai took Wang Jian and took action immediately.
Just as Su Ya was about to go down the mountain with the detectives who were transporting the corpse, a tall figure appeared beside her.
Su Ya turned around and saw that it was Lu Xiao.
“Why are you still here? Have you completed your mission with the team?”
Lu Xiao frowned. He felt that Su Ya was very different today.
Before, whenever Su Ya saw him, she was like a dog-skin plaster that she couldn’t get rid of.
But today, Su Ya not only did not stick to him, but even when he took the initiative to follow her, she did not show any welcoming attitude.
“I’ll take you back to the guesthouse.”
Lu Xiao originally wanted to see Su Ya off because he was worried about her safety, but now he was a little curious why Su Ya was so different today.
“I’m not going back to the guest house.”
Although this man is tall and handsome, and is her nominal husband, he is a complete stranger to Su Ya who has just come to this world.
She was not used to being sent home by others, and she did not like having outsiders present when she was dissecting a corpse.
When Lu Xiao heard Su Ya’s reply, he remembered that she was following the police to the crematorium to dissect the bodies.
He wanted to say that he would accompany her, but then he considered that he was not from the public security system, and these murder cases probably had to be kept confidential.
While he was still hesitating, a policeman in front of him heard Su Ya’s reply and immediately volunteered.
“The crematorium is a bit eerie. You can do the autopsy inside, and I’ll help you watch over the outside. If you need anything, just call me.”
Lu Xiao looked at the young man who was talking. He seemed to be a child, not very old.
Since the other person also had good intentions, there was no need for him to get entangled. Just when he was about to say that he didn’t care, Su Ya’s voice came to his ears.
“Okay, thank you for your help then.”
Su Ya heard that there were policemen willing to help guard for her safety, and she did not refuse. After all, if anything happened, she would need help.
Lu Xiao looked at Su Ya who was talking to the police with a smile, and said unconsciously:
“No need, I’ll guard it.”
He regretted it as soon as he finished speaking, but it was too late.
When the police saw the husband come forward, they thought that he might mind two single men and women being in the same place in the middle of the night, so they didn’t dare to insist.
Su Ya looked at Lu Xiao in surprise. Didn’t Lu Xiao dislike the original owner? Why would he take the initiative to create a situation where he was alone in the middle of the night? Wasn’t he afraid that she would pounce on him?
Although she was a little confused, she did not ask any more questions. After all, there were police officers all around them, and the conflict between the two of them was a family scandal that could not be made public.
In this way, Su Ya brought Lu Xiao to the crematorium.
“Then I’ll trouble you, Comrade Su.”
The policeman who had said that he would help Su Ya keep watch said goodbye to the two of them and returned to the temporary accommodation.
After the police left, Su Ya said to Lu Xiao:
“The autopsy will take some time. If you are tired, you can go back and rest.”
Lu Xiao originally wanted to say that he was not tired, but considering that the soldiers under his command had just completed their mission and still had some things to explain, he had to go back after all.
“Okay, I’ll go back first and come back to take you back to the guesthouse later.”
Su Ya had never expected him to be sincere in helping her guard the door. He probably did it just for the sake of face, not wanting others to guard his wife, even if it was in name only.
Su Ya entered the room where corpses were kept in the crematorium, and then saw Lu Xiao leaving, but she didn’t take it to heart at all.
The most important thing now is the dissection work.
This place is called a room, but it is actually an abandoned house. There is a door frame, but no door. The windows were broken by someone and the wind was leaking.
But none of this affected Suya’s dissection work. After she put on a new pair of gloves, she began the dissection.
Perhaps she was too skilled. For a forensic pathologist of that era, the workload that would take three hours to complete was completed in less than two hours by her.
Just when she was about to go back, she saw Liu Ming walking towards her.
“Comrade Liu, why haven’t you gone to rest yet?”
Then, Liu Ming searched for Li Hai according to the direction she provided, and sure enough, they found a row of simple houses on the hillside.
After careful questioning, it was found that there was only one woman living alone.
Afterwards, because Su Ya was performing an autopsy on the body, Liu Ming was called over to collect some trace evidence.
“Comrade Liu, have you found the key evidence?”
Su Ya remembered that there was key evidence in that room.
“No, the place was gray and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in days. There was no useful information.
Besides, that place is very remote, and I don’t think anyone would go there, right? What information can you get?”
Suya frowned.
She looked at Liu Ming’s nonchalant look and guessed that he hadn’t looked carefully. With this attitude, even if he went again, he probably wouldn’t get anything.
Su Ya looked at the weather outside the door. Because it was night, she couldn’t tell whether it was cloudy or sunny, but she could vaguely see some gray clouds.
It will definitely rain tonight.
For the sake of the deceased in this case, to preserve the evidence, and for her own possible job, the most efficient way now is for her to go there in person.
“Where is that place?”
After Su Ya got the exact location information from Liu Ming, she borrowed the toolbox from Liu Ming.
“You’re going?”
