Chapter 8
The gatekeeper looked Su Ya up and down and saw that her clothes were rather shabby, her trouser knees were even somewhat white, and the bag she was carrying was also quite old. He concluded that she was not a powerful person.
The gatekeeper’s eyes revealed a hint of suspicion and disdain, and he said indifferently:
“No, you can’t just come in.”
Su Ya was a little anxious and said, “Can you please call your superior to confirm?”
The gatekeeper waved his hand impatiently, “I’m busy, I don’t have time!”
Su Ya stood at the door of the guardhouse, at a loss for a moment.
At this time, Li Hai came back from handling a case. He recognized Su Ya standing at the door at a glance.
Thinking of how Su Ya examined the corpse without batting an eyelid and how she successfully found the identity and address of the deceased based on the clues she provided, Li Hai was full of admiration for Su Ya.
“Comrade Su, why don’t you go in?” Li Hai asked loudly.
Su Ya seemed to have seen a savior, “Comrade Li, I came to Captain Gu to report the situation, but the guard at the gate refused to let me in and was unwilling to call to confirm.”
Li Hai glared at the guard and said, “This is the expert who is helping us with the case. Are you responsible if he delays the case?!”
In this way, Su Ya was brought by Li Hai to Gu Changzheng’s office.
Gu Changzheng was buried in a pile of documents. He looked up when he heard footsteps.
After Su Ya saw Gu Changzheng, she said straight to the point:
“Director Gu, I request that you arrange a temporary office for me so that I can complete my subsequent work.”
Although Gu Changzheng didn’t know what work Su Ya would have left after dissecting the body, he thought that the old medical examiner from Shanghai would arrive here this afternoon, so he could ask Su Ya to provide the medical examiner with some information about the scene at that time. So he said:
“Okay. Li Hai, find a position for Comrade Su.”
Li Hai responded readily: “Okay!”
Soon, with the help of Li Hai, Su Ya got a temporary office.
She immediately threw herself into the intense work, concentrating on completing the practical report.
She also carefully analyzed the key evidence collected at the deceased’s residence halfway up the mountain yesterday, recording in detail the description of the evidence and related inferences, and even some possible investigative directions.
Time passed by minute by minute, and before I knew it, it was already 3 o’clock in the afternoon.
Su Ya finally finished all the content and knocked on the door of Gu Changzheng’s office with the organized results.
“Captain Gu, this is the report I completed.”
Su Ya handed over the document in her hand.
Gu Changzheng had just taken it and had no time to look through it when he heard someone below say that the old forensic doctor from Shanghai who he had invited two days ago had arrived.
Gu Changzheng quickly stood up and said to Su Ya, “Let’s go and greet them together.”
Su Ya followed Gu Changzheng to the door of the police station, and saw an old man with gray hair but vigorous spirit standing there, accompanied by a little assistant.
“Lao Lin, you are finally here!”
Gu Changzheng stepped forward to greet him warmly.
Gu Changzheng introduced Su Ya and Liu Ming to the old forensic doctor.
“Comrade Su has already performed an autopsy on the body. This is the report on the results of classmate Su Ya.”
The old forensic doctor took the document from Gu Changzheng, but he was not in a hurry to look through it.
“Take me to see the body.”
Afterwards, Gu Changzheng brought the old forensic doctor, Su Ya and Liu Ming to the crematorium again.
After arriving at the dilapidated house without even a door, the old forensic doctor put on gloves, with a focused and sharp look in his eyes, and began to observe the corpse inch by inch.
Then he picked up the sharp scalpel and began the dissection work with precision and calmness under the light.
Su Ya observed the old forensic doctor’s operation from the side, and it was indeed clean and efficient.
A few hours later, the old forensic doctor finally completed the second autopsy of the body.
Su Ya noticed that his forehead was covered with sweat, but he didn’t bother to wipe it off. He used the light of the flashlight to look through her autopsy report.
Su Ya was in awe of the old forensic doctor.
At such an old age, he is still fighting on the front line of serious cases, not letting go of any details. Su Ya feels that the professionalism of the old forensic doctor is worth learning and inheriting.
At first, the old medical examiner didn’t have much expectation because Su Ya was a young girl. But when he first performed the autopsy, he noticed that all the details that he could think of that were easy to miss and ignore had been carefully examined.
After he finished the autopsy, he couldn’t wait to read Su Ya’s report.
He was even more amazed by the clear thinking and rigorous logic of the autopsy report.
He had to admit that he had judged people by their appearance before.
With this level, whether it is autopsy or report, there are few forensic doctors in the entire Dragon Country who can compare with him.
“Young people are really amazing! The autopsy and report are both perfect.”
The old forensic doctor praised him generously.
Su Ya nodded slightly, without much expression on her face, because she actually could not bear the praise from the old forensic doctor.
In her previous life, when she first entered the field of forensic medicine, she made many mistakes.
Now, the reason why she could accomplish it so beautifully was purely because she came from a book.
Su Ya drew everyone’s attention back to the case and tried her best to avoid becoming the focus.
The old forensic doctor then asked Gu Changzheng to take him to see the deceased’s residence halfway up the mountain.
Gu Changzheng felt uncomfortable when he thought of this.
“The house collapsed due to heavy rain last night.”
Su Ya looked at the old forensic doctor’s disappointed and regretful expression and wanted to say that she had been there and found the key evidence. However, she was interrupted by Liu Ming.
“There aren’t any useful clues there.”
Su Ya discovered that after hearing Liu Ming’s speech, the old forensic doctor tightly closed his mouth which had just opened slightly due to regret.
Presumably, the old forensic doctor had the same idea as mine.
Usually, in such a situation, the deceased’s residence, as the first crime scene, has a high probability of containing key evidence.
“Please take a look at that piece of evidence, Mr. Lin.”
Su Ya said that she didn’t want to pay any attention to Liu Ming. Even if the third-class merit was put in front of his mouth, he would not eat it.
The old forensic doctor looked at Su Ya and thought that she had seen the deceased’s residence?
“Xiao Su, have you seen that house?”
Su Ya nodded, “I heard from Lu Xiao that it rained that night, so after I finished the autopsy, I borrowed the toolbox of Forensic Doctor Liu and went to check the scene.”
The old forensic doctor smiled with satisfaction, thinking that this girl was young, not only had strong working ability, but also had such a dedicated work attitude.
He took out the reading glasses he had just put away, put them on, and began to carefully read Su Ya’s explanation of the evidence.
“Oh my god! I almost missed the key evidence.”
Su Ya was very satisfied with the old forensic doctor’s response. She felt that she had almost achieved the effect she wanted.
The old forensic doctor couldn’t help but exclaimed after reading Su Ya’s explanation of the evidence. His wrinkled face was filled with a complex expression of disbelief and surprise.
Su Ya not only found key evidence, but also gave a general idea of the investigation: it is very likely that the crime was committed by an acquaintance, and it was not for money or sex.
In fact, the old forensic doctor came to the same conclusion after completing the autopsy.
But what surprised him was not these, but the subsequent explanation given by Su Ya for the unclear characteristics of the suspect’s palm prints, which turned out to be exfoliative keratolysis, rather than being blocked by any object.
