Chapter 29 – A Sip of Meat Broth
Wen Nian’s thoughts scattered all over the place, and her little heart began to stir.
“Aiya…”
She rubbed her eyes, her voice soft and delicate.
“What’s wrong?”
The man leaned in nervously, asking in concern.
“There’s something in my eye, maybe sand. Can you take a look? It’s really uncomfortable.”
Wen Nian’s voice was already naturally soft and sweet, but when she was up to something, it would take on a feather-light, teasing quality that tickled one’s heart.
Under the moonlight, the man leaned in carefully, peering into her watery eyes.
Wen Nian took the chance to inch closer to him, her breath warm and fragrant.
“Can you see it?”
Bathed in moonlight, she leaned into him obediently.
Her beautiful almond-shaped eyes sparkled like stars, and his reflection was clearly visible in her clear pupils.
Lu Hanzheng swallowed hard, feeling his throat tighten, and instinctively wanted to pull away in panic.
But Wen Nian looked up at him with those bright eyes, then wrapped her arms around his neck.
Before he could react, she tiptoed and gently pressed her red lips to his.
A faint, sweet fragrance wrapped around him. Her soft lips lingered tenderly on his, feather-light and warm.
While he was distracted, her pink tongue, sly like a little fish, slipped past his lips—
And darted inside.
Lu Hanzheng’s heart trembled violently.
He had never been this intimately close with anyone before.
Even through the thin layer of clothing, he could clearly feel the soft pressure of her chest against him.
Her faint moans between kisses were seductive, sending a shiver down his spine.
His heart pounded like a war drum, and he felt as if his entire body had caught fire.
When Wen Nian noticed he didn’t push her away like he usually did, she grew even bolder.
Her fair fingertips brushed the back of his neck.
She caressed him affectionately, her delicate body pressed tightly against his strong, lean frame, rubbing against him with no rhyme or reason.
Lu Hanzheng’s muscles tensed, blood rushing wildly in all directions.
The man let out a low groan, and his mind abruptly snapped back to clarity.
He reached out to pull her slender arms away, but her grip was too tight—he was afraid he might hurt her if he used force.
He slid his hands under her arms, trying to push her away, but the moment he applied pressure, she let out a soft gasp—
That’s when he realized that half of his palm had accidentally landed somewhere… very soft and tender.
Lips entwined, fingers brushing against silky skin—the sensation was unbelievably pleasant, sending tingles straight to his brain.
Lu Hanzheng relied on sheer military willpower to tear himself away from the overwhelming desire.
With effort, he pried her snow-white arms off him.
Both of them were panting, their breaths uneven, eyes locked on each other.
Wen Nian pouted her red lips in protest.
“Why’d you stop? I wasn’t done kissing you!”
The kiss had felt too good. She could tell he had clearly responded to her—so why push her away?
Lu Hanzheng frowned, his expression stern.
“This is a public place. What kind of behavior is this?”
They were out in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by endless fields, not a single soul in sight.
Wen Nian pressed her lips together.
“Then let’s go continue in the car.”
Now that they were officially in a relationship, if she couldn’t have the full course, was it too much to ask for a sip of broth?
Hearing Wen Nian’s bold words, the man’s brows furrowed deeply.
His handsome face darkened, and his voice turned hoarse as he scolded,
“You’re a young lady. Show some restraint.”
That sentence instantly set Wen Nian off.
Restraint? What’s that?
She had always lived freely, loving and hating without fear.
She was the same when it came to relationships—if she liked someone, she’d go after them.
Whether she succeeded or not didn’t matter—as long as she tried.
If she didn’t like someone? No one could force her.
Passion for Life, Living in the Moment
She loved life and enjoyed the present.
She liked Lu Hanzheng, so she racked her brains to flirt with him—using every trick in the book.
If he truly had no interest in her, she wouldn’t shamelessly cling on.
But now that their relationship had been confirmed, what was the point of playing coy?
“How am I not being reserved? Isn’t kissing between a couple completely normal? You don’t take the initiative, and then you won’t let me take the initiative—what, are you planning to have some kind of Platonic love with me?”
“And besides, when I kissed you just now, you clearly enjoyed it too.”
The second she turned around, he started acting cold again—he always did this.
Wen Nian huffed in frustration, ignored him, yanked the car door open, and climbed into the back seat.
Lu Hanzheng was left speechless.
He sighed and ended up opening the door and following her into the back seat as well.
“Is there anywhere else that feels uncomfortable?”
He was referring to any lingering effects of the drug.
Wen Nian turned around and pointed to her chest.
“Yes. Right here—it hurts.”
Before the man could react, Wen Nian had already started unbuttoning her shirt.
“What are you doing? Button it back up! This is improper!”
Lu Hanzheng scrambled to cover her up, pulling her shirt closed to hide the fair skin beneath.
“Ow, you’re hurting me.”
The moment Wen Nian let out a soft, pitiful cry, he panicked and immediately loosened his grip.
Seizing the opportunity, Wen Nian pulled her shirt open. Beneath her shapewear, two full, soft curves surged outward, barely contained.
“When the car braked suddenly just now, your arm knocked against me right here. I bet it’s all bruised—it hurts like hell.”
Under the gentle moonlight, Lu Hanzheng stared directly at her perfect curves, his throat tightening.
Wen Nian grabbed his large hand and pressed it against her chest.
Her lips kept moving.
“You hurt me, so you have to take responsibility.”
The man froze, stunned. Then, as if burned, he snatched his hand back at once.
Trying to appear calm, he said,
“Button up your shirt. I’ll take you to the hospital for a check.”
With that, he hastily opened the door, got into the driver’s seat, and started the car—as if running away.
Wen Nian smirked in satisfaction.
The novel described the male lead as cold and abstinent.
Who would’ve thought he had such a pure and innocent side?
Unfortunately, she’d only read the early chapters, so she didn’t know who this top-tier man would end up with.
If things followed the novel’s standard plotline, the male lead would definitely belong to the female lead.
But if he was going to fall into Wen Xue’s hands, she might as well snatch him up for herself.
It was rare to find a man who matched her taste in every way. Not going after him would be a waste.
In the end, of course, they didn’t go to the hospital.
The effects of the drug in her body had long since worn off.
Thankfully, she had only taken a single sip of the tea.
Chen Qiuwei wouldn’t have tampered with the food—that left only the tea as the problem.
And her chest? Not a single issue.
It had just been bumped once—she wasn’t hurting anymore at all.
No way she was actually going to expose such a private place to anyone.
She had just wanted to tease Lu Hanzheng, that’s all.
Who would’ve guessed he was so pure?
And had such strong self-control?
Any other man would’ve already fallen head over heels and been completely unable to resist.
Too much too soon could backfire.
So for now, Wen Nian decided to let it go.
She hadn’t eaten much for lunch, and by now, her stomach was growling.
The jeep turned this way and that, finally stopping at the entrance of an unfamiliar alley.
Confused, Wen Nian followed behind Lu Hanzheng, passed through two or three narrow lanes, and entered an old residential house.
