Chapter 50: I Really Want to Take a Couple Photo with Him
Wen Nian finally got her way.
She hugged the man and kissed him for a while, but her neck began to ache from craning it.
Before she could adjust her posture, the man grabbed her slender waist and lifted her onto his desk.
This height made kissing much more comfortable.
Wen Nian wrapped her arms around his neck and cooed sweetly.
Her mouth was filled with the scent of his hormones.
The large hand gripping her waist was so hot it made her go limp all over.
If she weren’t sitting on the desk, she would’ve already slid to the floor.
Feeling completely satisfied after the kiss, Wen Nian watched as Lu Hanzheng let her go and packed up the lunchboxes.
“Come on, I’ll walk you back to the dorm.”
Wen Nian jumped off the desk and reached for the boxes.
“No need. You go ahead with your work! I can head back on my own.”
She was full of “yang energy” now and felt recharged.
Lu Hanzheng glanced at her flushed little face.
“Let’s go. Didn’t you say your feet hurt?”
Wen Nian was secretly happy he remembered her earlier complaint.
Though, honestly, it didn’t hurt that much.
She’d worn new leather shoes to match her dress today—shoes that were a little stiff and rubbed against the back of her heels.
Leather shoes from this era… were hard to compliment.
She didn’t like cloth shoes.
She did have a bunch of stylish modern leather shoes in her space, but they were too flashy for now—too modern, too noticeable.
She usually preferred sneakers anyway.
Some of the sneakers from the Overseas Chinese store weren’t bad.
While not as pretty as modern ones, they were at least comfortable.
Wen Nian followed behind Lu Hanzheng.
As soon as they reached the stairwell on the first floor—
—they drew even more attention.
Especially when passing the training field, which was packed with soldiers.
Wen Nian couldn’t help but marvel.
This was supposed to be their lunch break.
These soldiers trained way too hard.
Every soldier they passed respectfully saluted and greeted Lu Hanzheng.
Lu Hanzheng kept a serious expression, returning the greeting with a polite nod.
Wen Nian clicked her tongue in amazement.
His authority in the army was clearly no joke.
…
After dinner, Wen Nian curled up in her room to study the high school curriculum.
She stared at the pile of materials on her desk.
And drew a complete blank.
She didn’t even know exactly what subjects were tested in this era’s college entrance exam.
Nor whether there was still a distinction between arts and science streams.
She had cleared out nearly all potentially useful textbooks from the recycling station.
Except for foreign language textbooks.
The Russian ones were like ancient scriptures—just looking at them gave her a headache.
Back in the modern world, unless you were majoring in Russian, who would study it for fun?
While buying reference materials from the bookstore, she had made sure to get a new English textbook.
English just felt easier on the eyes.
Back in the modern world, although she was an art student, her English was excellent—almost like a second native language.
Credit for that went to her stepfather.
Her biological parents had divorced when she was little, and she had been raised by her mother.
Not long after the divorce, her mom remarried quickly.
Her stepfather was the epitome of a British gentleman, always speaking in a proper London accent.
When she was a child living with her mom, her stepfather didn’t know a word of Chinese.
To communicate with him, Wen Nian had put in serious effort to learn English.
Her spoken English was naturally fluent.
She flipped through the English textbook—it wasn’t hard.
The real problem was math.
She had never been good at it.
In the modern world, it was easier—just hire a tutor.
Or even just search online.
There were tons of famous teacher lectures out there, and they were actually helpful.
If only she could access the internet, she might even be able to find past college entrance exam papers from this era.
Thinking this over, Wen Nian couldn’t help but pull out her phone from her space again.
She tried to power it on once more.
It had been water-damaged for so long—maybe the components inside were already broken.
She didn’t hold out much hope.
To her surprise, the phone actually turned on.
Wen Nian was overjoyed.
She checked the phone thoroughly inside and out.
The screen was perfectly fine.
All the apps she had downloaded before, along with photos and videos in the gallery, were still there.
The battery was fully charged.
Unfortunately, there was no internet in this era.
The phone was basically just an expensive brick.
Maybe it could still be used as a flashlight, or to play some offline games to pass the time.
Luckily, she had a spare power bank in her space.
But its capacity was limited.
Once the phone’s battery was completely drained, it would truly become just a brick.
At least her space was frozen in time.
So the phone wouldn’t lose power if left inside.
If she wanted to play games later, she’d have to go into her space to do it.
Better than nothing.
Without internet access, Wen Nian suddenly lost interest in the phone.
But since the phone had come with her, it might as well serve some purpose.
She picked up the phone and took several selfies.
Maybe one day when she returned, she could have more photos from this era as keepsakes.
If possible, what she really wanted was to take a couple photo with Lu Hanzheng.
That way, she could show it off to her girlfriends back home.
Let them see what a truly top-notch man looked like.
Unfortunately, she didn’t dare.
That man was not only sharp, but also highly alert.
Better not cause trouble for herself.
Just as Wen Nian was fiddling with the phone to find a good angle for taking pictures, there was suddenly a knock on the door.
She was so startled she almost dropped the phone.
Quickly, she tossed the phone back into her space.
Opening the door, Lu Hanzheng stood there holding a small bottle.
He handed it over.
“This is medicinal oil. Rub it on your foot and massage a bit—it will relieve pain and fatigue.”
Wen Nian’s face lit up with a bright smile.
Her boyfriend was so thoughtful—of course she was happy.
Lu Hanzheng, facing her delicate face, looked somewhat awkward.
Wen Nian didn’t take the bottle immediately, but turned and sat on the bed instead.
She kicked off her slippers, revealing a pair of fair, tender feet.
Her calves swung gently over the edge of the bed.
She said nothing.
Just smiled with bright, mischievous eyes, looking at him.
Her intention was clear.
Lu Hanzheng stood stiffly at the door, fingers tightly gripping the bottle, rubbing it back and forth nervously.
After a brief moment of hesitation, he strode inside.
Wen Nian gave a victorious smile.
That was more like it!
Even in this era, entering a lover’s room was no big deal.
Lu Hanzheng set the medicinal oil on the desk, glanced at the high school English textbook on the table, and casually asked,
“You want to take the college entrance exam?”
Wen Nian nodded.
“Yes, I’m thinking about it.”
As she spoke, she stretched her foot out, signaling him to apply the medicine.
Lu Hanzheng naturally crouched by the bed and gently held her slender, pale ankle.
Wen Nian gasped sharply.
The man’s large hand, like a pair of pincers, pressed right on the injured spot.
Hearing her cry out in pain, Lu Hanzheng instinctively softened his grip.
Looking at her red and swollen heel, his brow furrowed tightly.
He poured some oil into his palm, spread it out, then gently rubbed it onto her heel.
Wen Nian was especially sensitive to pain—no matter how gentle his touch was, she still flinched instinctively.
Lu Hanzheng held her foot firmly without loosening his grip, kneading the swollen area until the oil was fully absorbed.
