Transmigrated into a Novel as the Villain, He Kidnapped the Male Lead Chapter 27

Yu Qingyue had just picked up a piece of rib to eat when he heard the question and put his chopsticks down. “I’m fine with whatever, it’s up to you, Dad.”

Yu Wanlai almost clapped his hands in excitement. He quickly picked up some meat for Yu Qingyue and eagerly said, “Then it’s settled! I won’t go to the headquarters starting tomorrow.”

Yu Qingyue: ………

Yu Cheng turned his gaze to Yu Wanlai again, his tone stern and his eyes full of authority, “If you’re not going to the headquarters, then where are you going? What are you trying to do now?”

Yu Wanlai pouted and deflated immediately, “What do you mean by that? I just don’t want to go to work at the company…”

Yu Cheng grew even angrier, interrupting Yu Wanlai’s unfinished sentence, “Everyone else in the family is working, and you’re just slacking off like a parasite?”

“I just don’t want to go to work at the company. That doesn’t mean I’m not making money!”

Yu Cheng’s chest heaved with anger, and his hand on the table trembled slightly. Yu Qingyue shot a glance at Yu Wanlai, thinking he might actually be a fool.

“Then what, are you planning to go out and play that broken guitar of yours again? I’ve told you before, don’t even think about it!”

The tension in the room had almost reached the breaking point when Yu Qingyue spoke up just in time, “Dad, why not let him continue to follow me? I’ll teach him more about management in the future. He probably felt it was too hard to adjust recently. Don’t be angry.” This was his way of returning the favor for the truth Yu Wanlai had shared with him before.

Yu Cheng frowned and turned his gaze toward Yu Wanlai, his voice stern, “What do you think?”

Yu Wanlai reluctantly responded, dragging out his tone with obvious reluctance, “Fine… I got it.”

Upon hearing the response, Yu Cheng snorted and slammed the table as he walked away, muttering to himself, “This son is always going to make me angry every few days. He’s nothing like the younger one, so much easier to deal with.”

The next morning, Yu Wanlai and Yu Qingyue set off for the company together. The familiar Bentley was there, but this time it was a new model—Flying Spur. As Yu Wanlai stood in front of the car, he had a moment of distraction in the wind. He had visited the garage before and seen other cars, three Bentleys parked in a row. He thought, maybe they were all Yu Qingyue’s. Now, it seemed that indeed they were.

On the car, Yu Wanlai couldn’t resist asking, “Do you like Bentley?”

Yu Qingyue glanced at him. “What do you mean?”

Yu Wanlai took a deep breath and smiled, “Nothing, it’s pretty good.” He really was a true fan!

As Yu Wanlai followed Yu Qingyue out of the elevator, they walked as usual toward the CEO’s office. However, as Yu Wanlai was about to take the first step, Yu Qingyue called him, “Pack your things, from now on you’re sharing an office with me.”

Yu Wanlai turned around, took a few steps back, and stared at Yu Qingyue, his eyes wide. “Why?”

Yu Qingyue looked at him, clearly puzzled, “…So where were you sitting a few days ago at the headquarters?”

Yu Cheng had wanted him to manage a company on his own, so he couldn’t just stay as a regular assistant anymore.

“In Dad’s office,” Yu Wanlai replied, his eyes widening in surprise as he looked at Yu Qingyue, now even more shocked. “Since when do you criticize people indirectly?”

Yu Qingyue was momentarily speechless. His lips twitched as he looked at him like he was an idiot. “I don’t have a son like you! Stop talking nonsense and just pack up.”

At the moment, there was no other suitable position for him, but since he promised Yu Cheng to personally train the staff, he decided to share an office with Yu Wanlai for convenience. After saying that, Yu Qingyue turned and walked toward his office. He was crazy for even agreeing to let Yu Wanlai work with him.

When Yu Wanlai returned to his desk, Xiao Lai had already arrived. Upon seeing him, she immediately snorted.

Yu Wanlai raised his eyebrows in surprise, pointing at himself. “What’s that? Are you mocking me?”

Xiao Lai snorted again. When she saw him with Yu Cheng during the company inspection earlier, she had noticed the conversation between them. Now, she finally understood Yu Wanlai’s identity.

“You’ve really done a good job of hiding it! Enjoying your undercover role?”

Yu Wanlai was already annoyed about packing his things, and now Xiao Lai was making things worse, “What do you mean I’ve hidden anything?”

Xiao Lai: “Aren’t you Yu Cheng’s real son? Isn’t this your family’s company?”

Yu Wanlai wanted to say no, because it wasn’t really his family’s company. He sighed, feeling exhausted, and waved his hand, “Yes, yes, you’re right!”

Xiao Lai: “……”

It was outrageous! How arrogant!

But she didn’t dare say more, especially since they were familiar with each other from having meals together. Otherwise, she wouldn’t even dare to ask these few questions.

Yu Qingyue’s desk was already quite large, and it had two tables combined. So now, with Yu Wanlai next to him, there was still plenty of space, without any pressure.

At lunchtime, Yu Wanlai went to the small cafeteria for the first time to try the special dishes. The variety was fewer than outside, but the taste seemed better, likely because of the added luxury of the private rooms. After lunch, he took the elevator downstairs to the milk tea shop to buy a couple of drinks.

While ordering, the staff behind the counter suddenly brought two cups of milk tea toward him, looking around suspiciously and glancing at him several times. The person covered their mouth and whispered, “Boss, the king is here!”

Yu Wanlai clicked his tongue lightly, “What is this? A new promotion at the milk tea shop?” He was busy looking down at the order, not paying attention to the person, and casually responded, “What is this nonsense? I was just having chicken stew with mushrooms.”

Jiang Cheng immediately put down her milk tea cup, excitedly jumped over the counter, and lunged toward Yu Wanlai. As soon as Yu Wanlai sensed something was off, he looked up and saw someone suddenly flying toward him like a missile. Just as he was about to step back, the person hugged him tightly. Jiang Cheng nuzzled her face against his, and Yu Wanlai, feeling disgusted, quickly pushed her away, holding her head back to stop her from coming any closer. His heart was racing, and he said, “Who are you? What are you doing?! Although I generally don’t hit women, but you…”

Jiang Cheng pouted pitifully, “Boss, it’s me, Jiang Xiaotian!”

Yu Wanlai’s brows immediately furrowed fiercely, “Are you kidding me? You’re Jiang Xiaotian?! Then tell me, who am I?”

Jiang Cheng looked up helplessly, realizing the absurdity of the situation. “You’re Chu Wanlai. If you don’t believe me, I can even tell you that our elementary school homeroom teacher was Gao…”

Yu Wanlai shoved his phone back into his pocket, took a deep breath, and clenched his fists. He extended his arm, grabbing Jiang Cheng by the neck and dragging her toward the restroom, away from the prying eyes of the crowd.

Jiang Cheng clung to the last stall door frame, not letting go. “Boss, why can’t we talk outside? Why here, of all places? And I’m a woman now! Why don’t you take a good look at me?”

Yu Wanlai had just been caught off guard by the sudden revelation, and now he realized something wasn’t right. He reached out, intending to grab Jiang Cheng in a sensitive area, his face a mix of confusion and disbelief. “When did you pick up such a bad habit? Pretending to be a man in women’s clothes?”

Jiang Cheng quickly covered himself and crouched down, looking up at Yu Wanlai’s expression, which was full of disgust. “Boss, what are you doing?! Though I’d die for you, you can’t do this to your brother. Even a rabbit won’t eat near its burrow.”

Yu Wanlai rolled his eyes. He then heard Jiang Cheng continue, “Also, when did I pretend to be a man? I’m a woman now, what can I do? I’m really helpless… Wuwu~”

Yu Wanlai shivered at the overly girly, pitiful sobbing sound, but this situation was just too ridiculous. Jiang Cheng kept crying, “And I’m about to get my period, it’s killing me…”

Yu Wanlai rubbed his forehead and looked down at Jiang Cheng again, still in disbelief. “Is everything you’re saying true?” He was still struggling to believe it. Although her face didn’t quite look like Jiang Xiaotian’s, he still couldn’t recognize her.

Just then, someone entered the restroom, ready to use the stall. Yu Wanlai turned and met the person’s gaze—it was Xu Ran. Xu Ran immediately covered his eyes, “Uh, Mr. Yu… I didn’t mean to interrupt, I’ll just… leave now!” He quickly backed out, still holding onto the wall.

Yu Wanlai reached out to stop Xu Ran, wanting to explain, but Xu Ran was already gone. He couldn’t help but think, ‘No wonder he’s the President’s top assistant—he’s quick on his feet.’

Jiang Cheng stopped crying at last, sat up straight, and looked at Yu Wanlai. “Mr. Yu? He called you Mr. Yu? Wow, boss, you’ve made it!”

“But why Mr. Yu?” Yu Wanlai ground his teeth and turned back to glare at Jiang Cheng. ‘It’s really Jiang Xiaotian, that bastard. Always playing the pity card. Always crying but never shedding a tear.‘ “Made it? Should I thank you for that?!”

He extended a hand toward Jiang Cheng without saying anything, just staring at her.

Jiang Cheng scratched her head, unsure of what he meant. She hesitated and put her hand up. Yu Wanlai slapped it away, “Phone!”

Jiang Cheng immediately understood and handed her phone over to Yu Wanlai. After exchanging contact information, Yu Wanlai, without warning, flipped his hand, and Jiang Cheng’s phone fell out of her grasp. The phone’s strap tightened around her neck.

She touched her neck and pouted, “Boss, after all this time, why do I feel like you don’t really want me around anymore?”

Yu Wanlai had originally wanted to put his arm around Jiang Cheng’s shoulder, but upon seeing her like this, he furrowed his brow and changed it to a light pat on her shoulder. With a forced grin, he said, “How could that be? I’ve missed you so much!”

After having lunch with Yu Qingyue, the time had already gotten late. Now, stopping by the milk tea shop for a drink was going to take up even more time, and he could already tell lunch break was about to end. So, he continued walking with Jiang Cheng toward the milk tea shop, saying, “I’m going to be late, I’ll head out first. I’ll contact you later after work. Don’t forget to pick up your phone.”

Yu Wanlai exited the milk tea shop and took the elevator upstairs. He walked into the office, which was quiet and empty. He didn’t see Yu Qingyue anywhere. Taking out his phone, he checked the time—it was only 20 minutes left until lunch break ended.

Yu Wanlai had the habit of taking a nap. Normally, he would just lie down on the desk or sprawl on the chair for a short rest. But today, since there was little time left, he didn’t feel like sleeping and instead opened a game, preparing to play a round.

While waiting for the game to queue, he suddenly heard the sound of a door opening. He looked up towards the sound and saw Yu Qingyue walking out from behind a bookshelf along the wall.

Yu Wanlai: ………

He had wondered why that area looked oddly empty, and now he realized there was a door there?!

He put down his phone, which had already started the game, and quickly walked over. “What’s inside here? A break room?” No wonder he hadn’t seen Yu Qingyue earlier.

As he spoke, he was about to push the door open to take a look. Inside, the space wasn’t small—it had a bed, a small wardrobe, a desk, and at the back wall, there was a transparent glass door, which seemed to be a bathroom. Yu Wanlai decided not to push that door open and didn’t check further.
