Transmigrated into a Wealthy Family, Acting as Sickly Stepmother
Transmigrated into a Wealthy Family, Acting as Sickly Stepmother Chapter 45.2

At this moment, Sheng Lanqiu suddenly smiled and sighed, “I didn’t expect my sister still can’t cook until now. Your husband really spoils you.”

Sheng Xia raised an eyebrow interestingly. “What does that have to do with him?”

“I just thought, after marrying your husband, maybe your sister would learn some cooking skills. After all, the intention of cooking for your family personally is different from what a chef makes.” Sheng Lanqiu shook her head, her voice suddenly becoming especially gentle as if remembering her family. “Just like how I used to like cooking for my parents, when the family gathers together, the feelings seem to become even closer.”

“So, after marrying Ayu, we still continue this habit, and Ayu also really likes the food I cook.”

Shi Yue nodded vigorously, earnestly saying, “Mom’s cooking is very delicious, and we all like it.”

Sheng Lanqiu patted his head, then smiled at Sheng Xia. “But it’s also good that your sister is like this. She’s fine as she is now, it’s just with a husband spoiling you, all you need to do is enjoy good food, right?”

Sheng Xia blinked and nodded calmly, “Yes, I have the money to hire top chefs to cook for me in different styles, so I don’t need to travel around the world to enjoy various cuisines. Since I can have this kind of happiness at our home, why should I insist on cooking myself, exhausting myself to let others enjoy it, and possibly even be criticized?”

“But I think my sister must be more enlightened than me, she must enjoy the happiness of doing things herself more. Unlike me, who can only live this lazy life, with no challenges, no reflections, just eating and sleeping all day.”

Saying this, she touched her face and sighed deeply, “Oh well, luckily I’m only twenty-four years old, I can still become any kind of useless person I want to be.”

Sheng Lanqiu: “…”

Everyone else: “…”

【Damn, I want that too!!!】

【If someone were to ask me in anguish, ‘Are you really going to live this kind of useless life forever?’ I would happily laugh and loudly respond, ‘I want to, oh how I want to, I even dream about it!!’】

【Actually, I don’t quite understand Sheng Lanqiu. She’s married into a wealthy family, so why does she still live so tiringly? Occasionally cooking is fun, it enhances relationships, but cooking every day is just life.】

【Although she only makes breakfast every day, she still gets criticized by her mother-in-law who thinks the chef’s food is better. Why bother?】

【Le Chuxin is also a typical good wife and mother, but she doesn’t do this.】

“Everyone has their own hobbies, Xiao likes to enjoy, Lanqiu likes to cook, isn’t it good that everyone can do what they like?” Seeing that the atmosphere seemed off, Le Chuxin couldn’t help but try to smooth things over, slightly embarrassed. “Like me, although I need to take care of Yaya, I can’t give up my dancing.”

She was a dancer, particularly passionate about dancing.

Therefore, even after giving birth, when her family advised her to resign and become a full-time housewife, she refused to give up. She insisted on her career even if it meant being tired.

Tao Rou nodded, “Being able to persevere in what you love is already remarkable.”

Both she and Le Chuxin should be considered mothers who need to balance career and family, but it seemed she valued her career more, overlooking her family. Le Chuxin, on the other hand, balanced both sides, leaning more towards her family, and it was unclear which was better.

Sheng Lanqiu smiled somewhat stiffly, “Yes, indeed. It’s quite good. It’s getting late, let’s make dinner quickly, otherwise the kids will really be hungry.”

Le Chuxin exclaimed and looked up at the sky, then quickly called out to them, “Let’s go quickly then.”

With the mothers all in the kitchen cooking, Feng Jingxu took over, and Sheng Xia mingled with the children without a care in the world.

Perhaps because the process of completing the mission was too tiring, the children didn’t have much energy to play games. They hadn’t played for long before they all collapsed on the lawn, rolling around and frolicking.

The evening breeze gently blew, carrying a comfortable coolness, and everyone couldn’t help but let out a sigh of comfort.

“Yueyue, were you upset just now?” In the midst of Sheng Xia’s drowsiness, she suddenly heard Feng Xuchen’s soft voice.

She sneakily opened one eye and saw that Feng Xuchen and Shi Yue had somehow come together and were whispering to each other.

Seeming reluctant to worry his brother, Shi Yue hesitated for a moment before honestly admitting, “Actually, I wasn’t upset… I was just reflecting.”

“Reflecting on what? Did you do something wrong, Shi Yue?”

In such a small place, no matter who spoke, the other children could hear. So after hearing Shi Yue’s words, they all opened their eyes in curiosity and looked over.

Unexpectedly attracting everyone’s attention, Shi Yue couldn’t help but blush a little.

But after spending the day with them, he already regarded them as his best friends. So after feeling a bit embarrassed, he didn’t think it was a big deal for everyone to know.

Therefore, unable to figure it out on his own, he still quietly confided in his friends, “I don’t know either, but my mom says I can do better. So I’m thinking, maybe there’s something I didn’t do well enough that didn’t satisfy my mom.”

“But I’ve been thinking for a long time, and I still don’t know where I went wrong.” Shi Yue looked visibly distressed and embarrassed, sitting up and resting his chin on his hand. “If only my mom could tell me, but I’m afraid she’ll get angry… Do you know?”

Feng Xuchen thought for a moment, then shook his head honestly, “I don’t know.”

“Are you not performing well enough? Besides Hang Xuan, you’re the most obedient and capable,” Yi Yangyang said bluntly, scratching his head in confusion. “I accidentally lost Fan Fan, and Mom didn’t say anything yet. You even managed to bring Yin Qinya back. Is there anything else Aunt Sheng isn’t satisfied with?”

Shi Yue shook his head earnestly, “I’m sure there’s something I didn’t do well, otherwise my mom wouldn’t say that.”

“Then we really can’t think of anything,” Yin Qinya rolled her eyes. “Among us, who has performed the worst? Isn’t it me and Yi Yangyang? I almost bought back that hairpin, but Mom didn’t say anything to me, she even praised me.”

Thinking that everyone had been praised by their mom, Shi Yue felt even more down. But he still shook his head, a bit shyly, “I’m sure there’s something I didn’t do well, I just haven’t figured it out yet. My mom used to tell me where I didn’t do well, but this time she didn’t, so I have to think about it myself.”

“Like, if my manners weren’t up to par, or if i accidentally dirtied my clothes, Mom would remind me proactively. Or if I didn’t get first place, Mom would still encourage me, saying that if I tried a little harder next time, I would definitely get first place.

Every time Mom said something like that, Shi Yue would know what to do to make her more satisfied.

But this time, Mom only said, ‘Do better next time,’ without being more specific. While Shi Yue couldn’t understand, he also worried that Mom might not be happy, so he was in anguish.

[My goodness, why would Yue Yue think like this? He was really amazing today, darn it, Mom should praise him instead of Auntie!]

[Come to think of it, when I was talking to them earlier, I always felt that what Sheng Lanqiu said was a bit off. Now that I think about it, it seems like it’s not the first time I’ve heard this…]

[I remember Yue Yue clearly seeking praise before, right? But after Sheng Lanqiu finished speaking, the smile on his face disappeared. Now I know, he was actually wondering where he had gone wrong. Damn, just thinking about it, it hurts so much.]

[Indeed, Yue Yue did really well today! But in Sheng Lanqiu’s eyes, it seems like he can never meet her standards. Could it be that this is a common problem among parents?]

[Help, I finally know why I felt Sheng Lanqiu’s words were familiar. Even if parents are satisfied, they still subconsciously suppress it a bit, so that children can work harder and strive to improve. But in reality, it’s clearly PUA! I grew up like this, I understand the harm it causes to children too much…]

And when they saw that the comments were not quite right, Sheng Lanqiu’s fans quickly clarified.”

【Are you guys just imagining things? Lan Lan is so gentle to Yue Yue, and when I watched the live broadcast before, I could clearly see how attentive she was to Yue Yue, how much she put into him. How did it become PUA in your eyes?】

【Lan Lan just wants Yue Yue to not be proud and to continue working hard. She didn’t do anything. Children are just prone to overthinking, and she might have accidentally made him think too much. Everything will be fine when they have dinner later.】

【Yes, I only saw the mother-son relationship between them. Yue Yue was just worried that Lan Lan might not be in a good mood, and he didn’t have any dissatisfaction with Lan Lan at all. Why are some people so eager to put labels on others? Isn’t that too much?】

Sheng Lanqiu’s superficial work was done very well, and her relationship with Shi Yue is also well known. Especially since Shi Yue is particularly attached to Sheng Lanqiu, it is obvious that he loves his mom very much.

Therefore, after the fans vigorously clarified the rhythm, except for some who empathized and were sensitive, the audience who were not sensitive to such rhetoric were easily swept away.

Hang Xuan frowned and pondered, “But why can’t it be that Our Mom didn’t do well?”

“Mom?” Shi Yue was slightly stunned and subconsciously shook his head. “But how could Mom be wrong?”

“Adults make mistakes too, they just don’t admit it.” Hang Xuan, who often outwits his mom, said calmly, “Since you can’t figure it out, why not just ask Auntie Sheng directly? Maybe you’re just thinking too much.”

“But I still think Auntie Sheng did something wrong. You clearly did well and should have been praised.”

Just as Sheng Xia continued to listen intently, she suddenly felt her hand being gently pulled. Feng Xuran seemed a bit embarrassed and said helplessly, “Mom, if you’re not sleeping, open your eyes.”

Sheng Xia opened her eyes and met the eager eyes of several children, all saying in unison, “Ah, Auntie Xia Xia is really eavesdropping!!”

Facing their accusations, she sat up straight without any embarrassment and said confidently, “Please don’t randomly accuse me of eavesdropping. You were conspiring loudly over there, obviously talking for me to hear. I am a decent person, and have decent actions, how can they be considered eavesdropping?”

Whenever Sheng Lanqiu‘s fans pop up to whitewash her I get thrown out of the immersion. Sure the novels focus is on the changing roles of the Sheng sisters but why are there no online commentaries trying to protect Tang Rou from criticism? She’s introduced as someone high in the entertainment food chain. Shouldn’t she have brainless fans too? This mommy-tv show was supposedly Sheng Lanqiu‘s big break in the original plot so how much exposure can she have had previously compared to a renowned Actress? Where do her fans come from…?
