Chapter 102: Look how you trick the little girl
Di Zian felt a shiver down his spine.
He had a bad feeling.
Sure enough, the Tyrant Emperor spoke, “Well then, how about this: Why don’t I leave this matter to you? Try to get the officials to donate as much as possible. What do you think?”
Di Zian was dumbfounded!
He wasn’t capable of that!
The Tyrant Emperor sighed again, “I’ve already decided. This is a fat job. Whoever does it well will be rewarded with one-tenth of the donations collected. Do you think this is a good deal?”
Di Zian immediately understood the look in the Tyrant Emperor’s eyes.
Was his father suggesting that his sister should help him?
After all, his sister was a little lucky star.
Even though she was small, she could accomplish anything.
Ah Bao, who was eating watermelon in the Tyrant Emperor’s arms, heard this and her dark eyes gradually brightened.
Money…
Gold…
Di Zian quickly nodded and said, “Father, I lack the ability to do it myself. Perhaps I can find someone else to help. After all, if someone manages to collect ten thousand taels, they would get a thousand taels for themselves.
White, shiny, glittering silver and gold! And some officials are truly wealthy beyond measure.”
“Yes, yes, yes, wealthy indeed,” Ah Bao nodded along as she munched on her watermelon.
She knew that some officials were very rich.
They had side businesses and countless industries, with more money than they could ever spend.
“Sister, you’re idle with nothing to do, so why don’t you go?” Di Zian smiled at Ah Bao.
Ah Bao stopped eating her watermelon. “Me?”
“Or could it be that Sister thinks she can’t do it?”
[Of course I can do it! I can do anything, even if it’s impossible! But the thing is, I’m so small; can you really bear to send me to collect donations?]
“Ah, never mind, never mind. Let’s not involve Sister in this. She’s too young. In the eyes of those old fogies, she’s just a little kid who hasn’t even fully grown up yet. They won’t take her seriously, and if she goes, they might even scare her to tears. They always say that our royal family has a pampered little crybaby princess,” Di Zian sighed and shook his head.
Ah Bao was not having it.
Her watermelon no longer tasted good.
[How dare they call me a little kid? Sure, I may be a kid, but they can’t look down on me for that.]
[Scare me to tears? Even though I’m small, I’ve got a lot of guts.]
[I’m not a pampered little crybaby; I’ll show them what a little royal troublemaker is.]
[Alright, alright, it’s just collecting donations. Watch me!]
Ah Bao handed the watermelon rind to the Tyrant Emperor, then climbed off his lap, planting her hands on her hips. “Daddy… me, go.”
The Tyrant Emperor pretended not to understand, but he secretly gave Di Zian a thumbs-up.
The Seventh Prince’s provocation was brilliant, haha.
“Where does Ah Bao want to go?” the Tyrant Emperor asked, feigning ignorance.
Ah Bao solemnly pointed to the money pouch at her waist. “Make… make money.”
Make money!
The Tyrant Emperor understood her. At this point, the atmosphere was just right, so even if he didn’t understand, he had to act like he did. “Ah Bao wants to collect donations for our Tiansheng Dynasty?”
“That’s right!”
The Tyrant Emperor was immediately moved to tears, and they were real tears. “My good girl, my good daughter, then I will leave this important task to Ah Bao.”
Ah Bao pursed her little lips and nodded.
While wiping his tears, the Tyrant Emperor glanced at Di Zian, silently praising him for his cleverness.
“Ahem, have Feng Zhuo keep a close eye on Ah Bao. Then, take Ah Bao to visit the homes of the officials. Ah Bao is almost one year old; it’s time the officials get to know our Tiansheng Dynasty’s Tenth Princess properly.”
Little did the officials know, their nightmare was about to begin.
Di Zian quickly agreed, picking up Ah Bao and heading out of the hall.
Ah Bao glanced at the handsome man sitting on the dragon throne, feeling uneasy.
Why did she have a feeling that something wasn’t right?
Oh well.
Time to make some money!
…
Ah Bao’s first stop was the Right Prime Minister’s residence.
In fact, Ah Bao and Di Zian had planned to visit the Right Prime Minister’s residence again today. After all, since Ah Bao hadn’t seen her sister Lan Yixuan after the fortune-changing event last night, she didn’t get a chance to say goodbye before leaving.
“Jinjing, what happened to you today?” In the main hall, Madam Yang noticed Lan Jinjing limping in and quickly approached her. “Did you break your leg just by sleeping last night?”
Lan Jinjing had always been extraordinarily lucky. From childhood until now, she’d never been injured or bled. Even when hunting in the mountains, all the wild animals would somehow crash into rocks and die on their own, never causing her any harm.
Lan Jinjing’s face was slightly pale. As she was helped to sit in a chair by a maid, she was sweating from the pain. “Who knows? I got out of bed this morning and broke my leg. So unlucky.”
Lan Yixuan walked in just in time to see Lan Xiang in the hall. For a moment, Lan Jinjing had the strange feeling that Lan Yixuan was glowing?
As Lan Yixuan entered the hall, Lan Xiang, who had been sitting without moving, gave a slight smile. “Xuan’er, you’re here. Have a seat.”
Lan Yixuan nodded.
Lan Jinjing felt a pang of jealousy.
“Did sister break her leg by falling off a chair?” Lan Yixuan had just started speaking when Lan Jinjing, who was sitting on a chair, suddenly fell to the ground with a thud. The chair she was on instantly shattered.
Lan Jinjing, who already had one broken leg, now twisted the other one too. The intense pain made her face go as white as a sheet.
“What nonsense are you talking about?” Lan Jinjing snapped, coldly and angrily.
“Jinjing, how can you speak to Xuan’er like that? I’m right here listening. Xuan’er is concerned about you, and yet you speak so harshly,” Lan Xiang reprimanded, finding his second daughter’s behavior starkly different from the one he usually saw.
Madam Yang chimed in, “Master, you can’t scold Jinjing like that! She’s broken her leg, and instead of showing concern, you scold her. That’s just…”
“Just because she’s broken her leg doesn’t mean she’s right. And her injury has nothing to do with Xuan’er,” Lan Xiang replied sternly.
Upon hearing this, Madam Yang immediately teared up. “Master, didn’t we agree to treat Jinjing better? We need to make her feel the warmth of a family. After all, we’re not really related by blood. If Jinjing, such a good girl, were to leave us heartbroken, how would we live?”
