Chapter 156: Di Li’s Background
Feng Sheng lived outside the palace and was often seen going to a dilapidated house.
The emperor’s keen senses indicated that this place was unusual.
Until the secret guards reported that Feng Sheng had gone mad last night.
Inside that dilapidated house.
He was clutching a piece of blood jade, crying, shouting, kneeling, and praying.
The tyrant was puzzled upon hearing this.
But he ordered the secret guards not to alarm Feng Sheng and to seize the blood jade.
Feng Sheng was completely unaware that his every move had been observed by the tyrant and was under his control.
“Ha ha ha, so the world thinks the Tiansheng Emperor is a foolish tyrant, but it turns out, this tyrant still has a brain,” Feng Sheng gritted his teeth.
He watched as the blood jade shattered before him, but he couldn’t reach it.
Concubine Hui had destroyed his blood jade, and he wanted to bite a piece out of Concubine Hui.
Now, he wished he could drink the tyrant’s blood!
“Tell me, why did you choose Concubine Hui? Otherwise, it won’t just be this jade shattering before you.”
Feng Sheng trembled with rage. “Your woman, she willingly degraded herself to seduce me. I didn’t choose her.”
“Feng Sheng, what nonsense are you talking?” Concubine Hui, mad with rage, lunged at Feng Sheng, grabbing his neck, as if to vent the resentment from Feng Sheng biting her shoulder.
Feng Sheng’s face turned red from the strangulation, and he couldn’t resist being held by the guards.
With a glance from the tyrant, a guard stepped forward to drag Concubine Hui away.
“You bastard Feng Sheng! You said you liked me, and now you call me degraded?” Concubine Hui was furious.
They had been together for over a decade, and she thought there was some affection between them.
“Mother, you’re being foolish!” Di Li bit his lip, helpless.
To sacrifice her whole life for such a man was not worth it!
“Your Majesty blames me, and now you blame me too?” Concubine Hui looked mournfully at the tyrant and Di Li. “What am I being foolish about? Is my infidelity solely my problem?
If Your Majesty hadn’t been so heartless, if you had cared for me even a little over the years, would I have betrayed you?
And Di Li, I am your mother. If I wasn’t considering your future, would I seek Feng Sheng’s help?
All I wanted was for us to live better. What is my fault?”
“Mother, now that things are at this point, can’t you stop making excuses? Wrong is wrong. Admit your mistake, and I will plead with Father. Given the many years of our marriage, he might not be completely ruthless towards the Wen family and you.”
“I won’t admit it! I’m not wrong!”
*Smack!* Madam Xu slapped Concubine Hui across the face. “Daughter, don’t defy the Emperor. Our lives are in his hands. If you won’t think of yourself, at least think of your father and me.”
Infidelity!
Madam Xu was truly shocked that her daughter was involved in infidelity!
Switching children was already a serious crime.
Concubine Hui, now resigned to her fate, said, “Mother, do you think the Emperor will spare us now? Since the moment the Emperor appeared today, there was no turning back for us. I have already resigned myself to death.”
“Your Majesty, if you want to kill me, go ahead.”
【How strange. Concubine Hui used to be so afraid of death. Why is she suddenly so resolute now?】
【It seems Concubine Hui has other intentions. Could it be that she’s trying to extract information from Feng Sheng? Hmph, Concubine Hui is actually quite clever this time.】
Ah Bao saw through Concubine Hui’s intentions?
The tyrant remained impassive, watching the drama unfold. Feng Sheng, on the other hand, immediately exploded in anger!
“Wen Jiaojiao! Who told you to die? Who allowed you to die? We still have bargaining chips. I won’t let you die!”
The tyrant’s expression darkened.
Is Feng Sheng… suffering from some kind of split personality?
At first, he ignored Concubine Hui’s life or death.
Now, he’s afraid she might die?
【Ah, Concubine Hui’s desperation to die is indeed related to Feng Sheng.】
Di Li also sensed that things were going awry.
Concubine Hui looked at Feng Sheng with a forlorn gaze. “Feng Sheng, do you want me to live or die?”
After so many years with Feng Sheng, she realized she still couldn’t see through him.
“Wen Jiaojiao, I want you to live. You must live, understand?”
His affection was so strong and evident.
If before, Concubine Hui had believed and was even moved to tears, thinking this man was her true love.
But now…
He consumes her flesh and drinks her blood. How could this be true love!
It seems that affection was fake, and exploitation was real.
“Kidnapping children, a dissolute harem—every one of these crimes is enough to condemn me to death. I see, I’m not as important as this broken jade.
If you hadn’t rashly come to the palace tonight, how would the Emperor have discovered us?
Feng Sheng, you want me to die! If I die, it will be because of you!”
“We still have Di Li,” Feng Sheng said, panicking, afraid that Concubine Hui might do something foolish. “The Emperor has gone to great lengths to investigate Di Li’s background.
I know. If I die, no one else will know Di Li’s background, so I’m protecting you. The Emperor won’t kill you.”
“Then tell me, what is Di Li’s background?”
The tyrant picked up on the clue.
So Concubine Hui doesn’t know who Di Li’s biological parents are?
“Your Majesty, as long as you are willing to let Concubine Hui and me leave the palace, I will tell you Di Li’s background, so you won’t be a fool,” Feng Sheng looked up at the tyrant with a smug expression, as if he had the upper hand in this matter.
Having raised his son for so many years, the Tiansheng Emperor must have some feelings for Di Li.
Feng Sheng was playing on that.
【Tsk, Feng Sheng really thinks he’s so clever, but he’s actually a fool.】
【What he’s pursuing is just a delusion.】
Both the tyrant and Di Li were straining to listen.
What is Feng Sheng after?
Ah Bao chewed on her little hand, her mind racing.
The tyrant’s gaze grew stern. “Release you? That would make me a fool! Making demands on my own territory? Feng Sheng, do you really think so highly of yourself? Come, bring it over.”
Ah Bao craned her neck, incredibly curious.
【What is Father so fiercely bringing in?】
【I want to see, I want to see!】
The tyrant instinctively lifted Ah Bao higher. At the doorway, four or five guards entered quietly.
Following them, a figure in a white robe also entered with a cheerful expression.
“Poor Taoist greets His Majesty, greets the Tenth Princess.”
Taoist Baiyun.
【Old Bai?】
Ah Bao was quite surprised. 【Old Bai, long time no see!】
After paying his respects, Taoist Baiyun gave Ah Bao a special look, with an admiring and respectful gaze, and made a hand gesture just for her.
It was a sign of greeting to the eldest.
Ah Bao understood immediately.
【Old Bai’s younger brother is so thoughtful.】
The tyrant stiffened his arm holding Ah Bao.
Had he heard something unbelievable?
His daughter referred to Taoist Baiyun as her younger brother…
