Chapter 257: The Prince’s Bad Luck
“Well, I saw a blazing sun in the darkness. Our cute little princess from the Tiansheng Dynasty was sitting under the sun, waving at me. She said everything would be fine once I opened my eyes. The Princess Jiaoyang came into my dream; this is the guidance of the divine, the divine’s favor.”
“Does the village chief still remember what the little princess looked like?”
“Of course I do.” The village chief, skilled with his hands and formerly a renowned village artist, immediately drew the face of Di Jiaoyang.
“The little princess is truly beautiful, like a New Year’s painting doll.”
“No, the little princess is the light of our Tiansheng Dynasty, the blazing sun, the hope.”
“How about we make a golden statue of the Princess Jiaoyang and offer it to her?”
“Yes, yes, let’s go and make a golden statue.”
Although the village was poor, some families took out their hidden treasures to make gold and craft the statue.
Taoist Baiyun watched the busy villagers and smiled.
The protective talisman already contained the boss’s spiritual energy. With just a bit of spellwork, he could enter the village chief’s consciousness.
At this moment, in a quiet courtyard in Crescent Village, the Fire Kingdom’s young prince was awakened by the sudden noise of gongs and drums. He threw aside his embroidered quilt, went to the window, and looked outside, but saw no one.
The chaotic noise in the village unsettled him, and he felt like losing his temper.
“Your Highness, what’s wrong? Can’t you sleep?” Yang Lei came in.
“Senior Brother… uh, I mean, Guard Yang, what’s happening outside? Why is it so noisy here?”
Yang Lei was originally the young prince’s senior brother. They were both disciples of the same master, Tianlin Taoist, who was a prominent figure in the Fire Kingdom’s imperial court.
After Li Chunfeng returned, he had complained to the old emperor for a long time, which infuriated him. He declared that the Tiansheng Dynasty was plotting rebellion and didn’t even regard the Fire Kingdom.
To warn the Tiansheng Dynasty, the old emperor sent their most esteemed Prince Yanling.
Of course, Tianlin Taoist had always wanted to meet Taoist Baiyun of the Tiansheng Dynasty, as they were sworn rivals. Tianlin Taoist suggested that Yang Lei accompany the young prince to the Tiansheng Dynasty. This would not only protect the young prince’s safety but also help in subduing the Tiansheng Dynasty, especially their tenth princess.
Li Chunfeng had made it clear that he suffered because of the tenth princess.
The Fire Kingdom had always looked down on the Tiansheng Dynasty, let alone a small princess from the lowest-ranked country, whom they deemed insignificant.
Upon hearing that the tenth princess caused trouble for Li Chunfeng, the old emperor was furious!
Tianlin Taoist, with some embellishments, thus led to the presence of Yang Lei and the Prince Yanling.
The Prince Yanling was well-known in the Fire Kingdom for his peculiar ability. His words were said to bring misfortune, and if he cursed someone, they would be struck by lightning. While his good predictions were ineffective, his bad ones were quite powerful.
That’s why he was called the Prince Yanling.
As a child, the prince wasn’t originally called the Prince Yanling. When the old emperor discovered his unique trait, he renamed him and made him the crown prince because of it, hoping that one day the Fire Kingdom would flourish through the prince’s talent.
However, the royal family had another concern.
The concern was that the Prince Yanling couldn’t speak good words; good words didn’t work at all, only bad words did, somewhat like a “crow’s mouth.”
Many people privately admired the Prince Yanling’s trait, but some avoided him, fearing his curses.
“It seems Crescent Village is celebrating.”
The Prince Yanling was confused. “What’s there to celebrate in the middle of the night? Disturbing my sleep should be punished with death!”
“Your Highness, this is the territory of the Tiansheng Dynasty. We should be discreet in our actions.”
The Prince Yanling pouted. “Guard Yang, what does the tenth princess of the Tiansheng Dynasty look like?”
“Why do you ask, Your Highness?”
“Hmph, she better not be more beautiful than me. If she is, I’ll say she’s an ugly hag with birthmarks and sores on her face. Let’s see if anyone still likes that princess in the Tiansheng Dynasty.”
Yang Lei was shocked, realizing that the young prince’s thoughts were quite malicious.
He was only seven years old!
If the young prince ever became the emperor of the Fire Kingdom, would he be a tyrant?
“Guard Yang, what are you thinking?”
Yang Lei quickly refocused. “Li Chunfeng said the princess is very cute, and even our Fire Kingdom’s national beast, the Golden Dragon, likes her.”
“I won’t allow her to be cuter than me! I’ll curse her. Hmph, what’s her name again? Ah, Di Jiaoyang, right? Gods above, whatever I say will come true. I’ll curse Di Jiaoyang—”
Before the Prince Yanling could finish, a loud crash came from the sky.
“Your Highness, it’s going to thunder soon. I wonder if it will rain tonight.” Yang Lei was puzzled. The weather had been fine earlier, and thinking of the prince’s curse, he sighed. As expected, the weather seemed to be preparing a thunderstorm.
“Uncle Yang, look, look, thunder is coming. Hahaha, it’s a pity Di Jiaoyang isn’t here. Why is the thunder coming our way?”
A tremendous crash echoed.
A bolt of lightning tore through the night sky, curved through the window, and struck the Prince Yanling’s bed.
If Yang Lei hadn’t pulled the Prince Yanling away quickly, the lightning would have struck his head.
“Uncle Yang, this lightning is so powerful.”
“Your Highness, stop talking. Didn’t you see the lightning almost struck you?” You’re so young, your eyes don’t seem to help at all.
“It must be that the heavens mistook me for Di Jiaoyang and wanted to strike her with lightning, but didn’t expect me to curse Di Jiaoyang from behind—”
Boom!
Another bolt of lightning struck.
“Your Highness, be careful!” Yang Lei, now terrified, pushed the Prince Yanling far away.
The Prince Yanling avoided the second bolt of lightning, but unfortunately, Yang Lei’s push was too strong, and in his hurry, he pushed him with such force that the Prince Yanling’s head hit the doorframe.
The Prince Yanling’s forehead immediately bled, the blood running down his face, horrifying to see.
“Your Highness, stop talking. We’re in real danger.”
“I haven’t said much. I haven’t finished cursing Di—” Yang Lei quickly covered the Prince Yanling’s mouth.
The Prince Yanling’s mouth seemed cursed, not blessed.
“Shh, Your Highness, please stop mentioning Di Jiaoyang.”
The Prince Yanling, already feeling aggrieved and with a throbbing forehead, blood streaming down and staining Yang Lei’s hand, complained, “Guard Yang, don’t you care about me at all? I won’t mention Di Jiaoyang anymore, but look, my face is covered in blood.”
