Chapter 2: Strike First
Wen’s father had previously signed a document stating that if he became unable to manage the company, his shares would go to his wife. Now, Wen’s mother transferred this right to Wen Ya, including her 15% and the 5% Wen Ya received at 18, totaling 55%—giving her absolute control. If Wen Ya had experience in the company, she could have taken over immediately. Unfortunately, she was unfamiliar with the business, and her father had planned to gradually hand it over. With her mother’s sudden death and her engagement broken, Wen Ya was left heartbroken and powerless, allowing the company to fall into chaos.
Wen Ya, now that her mother has recovered and she is familiar with the plot, will not let herself end up in a bad situation. She may not have the ability, but she can find someone capable to take over the company. Ideally, she would like to deal with those ungrateful people and possibly trick Gu Chengze.
She searched her phone for a long time before finding the person she was looking for at the bottom of her address book.
“Xiao Ya? How rare! Why did you think of calling me?” a soft and cute voice asked.
“Ji Wei, I want to talk to your brother about something,” Wen Ya said directly.
“You? Looking for my brother? Did I hear it right?” Ji Wei looked at the man watching the news and asked in disbelief.
“Yes, it’s your brother, Ji Ming. I don’t have his contact information, so… please tell him I want to discuss a business that can strengthen your Ji family. Please, Vivi,” Wen Ya requested sincerely.
“Wait a moment,” Ji Wei pressed the standby button and relayed Wen Ya’s words. She then asked her brother, “Brother, do you want to answer the phone? If not, I’ll call you back.”
“Give me the phone,” Ji Ming said. After his sister left, he said, “I’m Ji Ming.”
“Hello, I’m Wen Ya,” Wen Ya said calmly. “Boss Ji, what do you think of the Wen Group?”
“Wen Group? Your father is enterprising but steady. After completing the project in the west of the city, I believe Wen Group can go further. But as far as I know, Wen Group has already approached Gu Group for cooperation. So, what business do you want to do with me?” Ji Ming asked with interest.
“Since you think Wen’s is good, are you interested in taking over? With Wen’s, your Ji’s can fill this gap and do more than just make a quick buck,” Wen Ya explained.
Wen’s first business was auto parts, and later expanded into real estate, clothing, and hotels. Ji’s company makes cars and had close cooperation with Wen’s in the early years.
Wen Ya waited for a response. Just when she thought he would refuse, Ji Ming said, “Let’s have lunch together at 12 noon tomorrow. I’ll send you an address later.”
“Okay, see you tomorrow at noon,” Wen Ya replied.
After hanging up, Wen’s mother transferred all the shares to Wen Ya. The lawyer handling this was an old friend of Wen’s father, so there was no worry about leaks.
After dinner with her mother and visiting her father, Wen Ya took the bus home.
Having taken the first step, Wen Ya felt more relaxed and enjoyed the scenery of the villa.
The villa is a two-and-a-half-story structure with a usable area of over 400 square meters. Including the front yard and back garden, the total area is over 1,000 square meters. In South City, where land is valuable, the Wen family’s wealth is evident.
After a comfortable bath, Wen Ya felt happy with her smooth skin.
“Miss, Mr. Lin is looking for you. Do you want to meet him?” Aunt Wang asked.
Mr. Lin? The shareholder who wanted to buy shares? Wen Ya was surprised but agreed to meet.
She thought she couldn’t rely solely on Ji Ming. Even if Mr. Lin lowered the price, it would save the Wen family and leave her with a considerable sum.
Her goal was to ensure her parents’ medical expenses and their future comfort.
“Uncle Lin, why are you coming to my house at this time?” Wen Ya asked with a smile.
“Is this Xiao Ya? You’ve grown so much,” Mr. Lin said, then asked about her graduation and marriage plans.
“I just graduated and want to have fun for a few more years. No rush to get married. Uncle Lin, just tell me what you want,” Wen Ya said, tired of small talk.
Mr. Lin sighed and said, “Mr. Wen’s accident was unexpected. I want to buy your shares.”
Wen Ya was not surprised. She leaned back and asked, “How much do you want to pay and how much do you want to buy?”
Mr. Lin was surprised by her calmness. “Half off. You, your mother, and President Wen own 55%. I can’t afford that much, but I’ll find someone to buy it together,” he said directly.
Half price? No wonder the original body disagreed. Wen’s development was very good, especially after completing the West City project, it would easily rank among the top ten in South City. These people wanted to buy it at half the market price, which was outright robbery.
Wen Ya pretended to think deeply for a while, then looked up and said, “I can’t decide such a big matter alone. I need to discuss it with my mother first.”
She needed to stall him and consider everything after meeting Ji Ming the next day.
Mr. Lin’s eyes lit up. He was just a representative testing the waters. Getting Wen Group at the lowest price would be ideal. He didn’t expect the little princess of the Wen family to actually consider selling her shares.
“Then I’ll wait for good news.”
After Uncle Li saw Mr. Lin out, Wen Ya picked up a piece of melon and nibbled on it.
“Miss, are you really going to sell the shares?” Uncle Li had overheard everything. He couldn’t speak freely in front of outsiders, but now he was anxious. “This is the master’s life’s work. You can’t sell it!”
“What if we don’t? Many people know about Dad’s condition and are eyeing the Wen family greedily. You know my mom’s health, and I know my limits. If these people team up against us, we’ll end up with nothing. What will happen to Dad and Mom then?” Wen Ya’s eyes turned slightly red.
“You can ask Master Gu. He’s your fiancé. He…”
Wen Ya raised her hand to stop Uncle Li. “Gu’s? I’m afraid they’re even more eager.”
“How could this happen?” Uncle Li was stunned, his spirit crushed. “This is heaven’s injustice. The master and his wife are such good people, doing charity every year. How could this happen to them?”
Heaven’s injustice? Of course, the author needed to remove the fiancée so the heroine could take over.
Wen Ya thought she’d sleep well, but she tossed and turned until around three in the morning.
Ji Ming had already sent her the address the previous afternoon—a villa on the outskirts of the city. The location was discreet, and they couldn’t let anyone know about it yet.
After washing her face, she went to her cloakroom. The previous day, she had just grabbed a casual outfit, but now she took her time. The room was filled with jewelry and accessories, and three wardrobes lined the walls. Everything was organized—skirts with skirts, coats with coats, and innerwear with innerwear. Most items were the latest from luxury brands, many still with tags.
The female supporting character’s early setup was impressive, but her later fate was tragic. She couldn’t let that happen.
After much deliberation, she chose a long white dress, tied her hair loosely, and applied some tired-looking makeup. She checked herself in the mirror. “Perfect.”
When negotiating, one should show their best. Since she couldn’t match Ji Ming’s ability, she’d play the weak card. It was a strategy. After psyching herself up, she grabbed her DA bag and clattered downstairs in her matching high heels.
“Uncle Li, I’m going out for something. I’ll have lunch outside. When you bring food to my mom, let her know.” Wen Ya called her driver and headed to the villa on the outskirts.
By 11:30, Wen Ya arrived at the villa gate. She clenched and unclenched her fists, muttering to herself, “You can do this. If the negotiation fails, there’s still Mr. Lin as a backup. What’s there to fear? Ji Ming should be the one anxious. Wen’s company is a big catch for him.”
After mentally preparing herself, Wen Ya calmly entered the villa and was guided to the private room.
“Hello, I’m Wen Ya.”
“Ji Ming.”
