Chapter 53 : Involvement

“Are you even listening to me?”

Liang Qingqing pouted and lowered her eyes, looking as if she was about to start crying.

Seeing this, Fan Yanxing clearly felt as though his throat was being tightly gripped by an invisible hand. He couldn’t bring himself to refuse her and his fingers, which were wrapped around her waist, began to turn white. In the end, he reluctantly patted her back as if surrendering.

“Go ahead, I’ll listen.”

She knew he wouldn’t refuse her. Liang Qingqing sighed with relief. However, seeing the suppressed emotions in Fan Yanxing’s eyes, she felt a pang of sympathy and discomfort. But she had to go through with it, abandoning the matter halfway would only add an unstable element to the future.

It was true that the original owner had liked Su Jinchuan and had pursued him earnestly. No matter how much she denied it or how much he didn’t want to hear it, the facts remained unchanged.

She couldn’t explain to Fan Yanxing that “she” was not “her,” so she had to endure this mute grievance.

Liang Qingqing knew that Fan Yanxing was not someone who lacked discretion. The reason he brought his emotions into this was because the original owner had pursued Su Jinchuan for so long, which had left a thorn in his heart. If it wasn’t removed now, it would only hurt more in the future. It was better to take this opportunity to put an end to it.

Furthermore, even though Fan Yanxing had given his promise, she still wasn’t completely reassured. Today, she needed to set clear boundaries. Otherwise, if he got jealous and took his anger out on her in the future, how could she continue living like that? She knew better than anyone how attractive she was, and future romantic opportunities would only increase, not decrease.

So, she stopped coaxing him halfway and instead took charge of the situation, starting to get angry herself, in order to keep control.

“Don’t be so serious,” she said, seeing Fan Yanxing’s grim expression. Liang Qingqing cleared her throat, softened her voice, and poked his cheek with her index finger. It was a bit squishy and felt different from the rest of him, with a surprisingly good texture, so she couldn’t resist poking it again.

“Should I be able to smile?” Fan Yanxing let her poke his face, as if he had no temper at all, but his gaze was intense and his tone was cold.

Liang Qingqing awkwardly withdrew her hand. Thinking it over, if her boyfriend were talking extensively about other women he had liked in front of her, she wouldn’t be able to smile either.

This topic wasn’t just something Fan Yanxing disliked hearing, Liang Qingqing also didn’t enjoy discussing it. So she condensed her lengthy explanation into a few sentences, placing her fingers in front of him and making a gesture with her nail edge.

“It’s just a little lingering thought, but that’s because I was blind. Since getting to know you, I’ve realized what true affection is and who my real type is.”

“I’ve long since lost interest in him. You’re smart enough to see that.”

Liang Qingqing made this statement as a certainty, not as a question.

Fan Yanxing raised an eyebrow, habitually rubbing his fingers, and his gaze fell on her lips. This little mouth always knew how to make him happy. She was right he had indeed noticed that her enthusiasm for Su Jinchuan had faded long ago, which was why he was willing to indulge in her tenderness.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t be wasting his time and willingly suffering by liking a woman who was still preoccupied with another man.

“And you know who I like now, don’t you?”

Her large, beautiful eyes blinked as they gazed deeply into his pupils, filled with evident anticipation and joy, and also a hint of nervousness. Her butterfly-like long eyelashes fluttered with each beat, sending a shiver to his heart.

Her voice, rolling at the edge of her lips, was tinged with a hint of hoarseness as she said, “I want to hear you say it.”

Liang Qingqing tugged gently on his neck, bringing their faces even closer. She leaned against his ear, lightly nibbling with her teeth. Her gaze flickered, and she said earnestly, “It’s you that I like, Fan Yanxing.”

Her warm breath was felt on his skin, but it was the words themselves that were even more scorching. Suddenly, a flush spread from his earlobes, making him look as red as a cooked shrimp.

The jealousy and discomfort he had felt vanished in an instant, replaced by a wild joy. Fan Yanxing took a few deep breaths, struggling to control the pounding in his chest, and found himself muttering.

“I want to stick with you every day, kiss and hug and lift you up. But you, you get angry just because I looked at someone else a few times. Such a small heart. Hmph, it’s lucky I have a good temper and generously forgave you, otherwise, you’d be losing me.”

“If you’re jealous, just be jealous. Why keep it bottled up? If you end up hurting yourself, I’ll be heartbroken.”

“Hey, even if I’m jealous and angry……”

Before he could finish, his words were swallowed by her lips. Liang Qingqing, stunned, let out a soft whimper, her body weakening as she collapsed into his embrace. All she could hear was an annoyed and gritted-teeth warning, “Just as long as you know.”

The door was closed, the room was already warm, and his fingers, like they were burning, crawled slowly up from her ankles, leaving shivers on her smooth calves and thighs. When they reached the thin fabric of her clothes, Liang Qingqing’s breath caught, and her body trembled even more.

An untouched territory is always particularly sensitive. She instinctively tried to stop him, her fair fingers stained with a layer of pink.

“No, don’t,” she said, her face alternately flushed red and pale with fear.

Fortunately, Fan Yanxing had no intention of crossing the line. He was just teasing her, given that she had set such a big trap for him. He had noticed and was still willingly caught.

Her words had nearly given him a heart attack.

It was unreasonable for him to be the only one suffering.

If he couldn’t touch here, there were always other places to explore.

Feeling Fan Yanxing take his hand away from her, Liang Qingqing couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief. But the next moment, her heart was racing again as the man’s fingers brushed over her waist and lingered at the small of her back for a few seconds before moving upward.

“Fan,Fan Yanxing…” Her lips were blocked, leaving her only able to produce indistinct sounds. Her mind was overwhelmed by the aggressive kissing and she tried to grasp his wrist with her soft, delicate fingers, but it was all in vain.

“Be good, call me Brother Yanxing.”

Before she had a chance to catch her breath, not only were her lips bitten, but the softness below her collarbone was also nipped.

She knew he wouldn’t ignore the flattering title she had used earlier. Even if he had forgotten at that moment, he would pick it up now.

Liang Qingqing’s breathing was rapid. In her panic, her long eyelashes fluttered as she looked at the man in front of her, who had his eyes tightly shut and wore a facade of righteous seriousness. If it weren’t for those misbehaving large hands, she might have been deceived.

Realizing she couldn’t stop his hands, she tried pushing against his chest instead, her long legs kicking and striking incessantly. She also tried to bite his tongue with her sharp teeth when she found the chance, but it was as if he had eyes all over his body whatever she tried to do, he could block it the next moment.

Angered, her eyes reddened, tears moistening her lashes and causing them to clump together. The corners of her eyes were tinged with red and even her delicate nose was flushed, giving her a pitiful appearance.

Fan Yanxing, having enjoyed the sweet moment, couldn’t bear to see her cry. He lightened his touch, using his lips to kiss away the two tears that might fall. Remembering something, he gently reassured her, “In a couple of days, the snow flower cream I ordered from the capital will arrive.”

Hearing this, Liang Qingqing was momentarily stunned in her resistance. After hesitating for a couple of seconds, she ended up hooking her arm around his shoulder and murmured, “Snow flower cream, for me?”

She remembered that he had promised her at the entrance of the youth program, and now he really had bought it and was about to deliver it to her quietly.

“Otherwise?”

Fan Yanxing gave her a half-smile, looking at her with a knowing expression.

“Are you really that happy?”

Despite wanting to escape earlier, she now actively leaned in when she heard about the snow flower cream.

His hand slipped out from the corner of her clothing and he pinched her soft cheek with some irritation. His fingers were exceptionally well-shaped, handsome but not effeminate, with slightly calloused pads that caused a mild sting when they touched the skin.

Seeing his hand, Liang Qingqing recalled how he had been pinching and kneading her earlier, feeling embarrassed and unable to look up.

“I knew Brother Yanxing was good to me.” With his confirmation, Liang Qingqing’s face lit up with obvious joy. Her beautiful eyes no longer had tears but were instead squinting into crescent shapes.

Upon hearing this, Fan Yanxing’s clear eyes grew dim again, his fine lashes hiding the change. His voice took on a gradually coaxing tone, “Then should we kiss again?”

The smile on Liang Qingqing’s lips faltered. She forced a couple of dry laughs and said, “I still need to review my script. How about next time?”

“This time is this time, and next time is next time.”Fan Yanxing wasn’t buying her excuses. He held her waist firmly and said, “You can review your script later, it won’t take long.”

“……”

Breathing intertwined, some things were destined to be unavoidable.

After this incident, their relationship on the surface hadn’t changed but internally it underwent a tremendous transformation.

Since the next day was a holiday, Fan Yanxing had to hurry and write down Taoshan’s situation, so the two of them didn’t fool around for too long.

Liang Qingqing sat by the bed, her pants and collar neatly adjusted by someone, with no extra skin exposed. She awkwardly touched her chest the burning itch had faded, but a crease remained as a reminder of what had just happened.

Her cheeks reddened a bit more. Taking a deep breath to calm herself, she pulled out a large White Rabbit milk candy from her pocket and leisurely unwrapped it.

Unable to resist her curiosity, she asked, unwittingly digging a hole for herself.

“Why didn’t you write it a few days ago?”

As soon as she asked, she saw Fan Yanxing lift his head from the desk, casting her a faintly amused look with a smile that seemed to be half-teasing and half-sarcastic. “My girlfriend is avoiding me, how could I have the mood to write?”

Liang Qingqing almost bit her own tongue, giving a forced laugh. “You go ahead, I need to review my script now.”

While speaking, she popped the white candy into her mouth. Her red, swollen lips still bore a few visible bite marks. Fan Yanxing took a deep glance at her before turning his gaze away.

His pen didn’t stop, but his mind was already pondering the “next time” she mentioned.
