Transmigrated Three Years Into the Future and Became My Archenemy’s Wife Chapter 64

64. Set Things Right

Pei Yu was stunned for two seconds before he slowly returned the embrace, his palm gently patting her back. However, he didn’t respond immediately.

The more he remained silent, the more Chen Shu Yin’s long-suppressed memories surfaced, connecting past events together. In the end, all signs pointed to Pei Yu as the one who had always played the positive role, making her feel even more heartbroken.

She couldn’t help but feel self-loathing, couldn’t help but criticize her own foolishness.

Chen Shu Yin clenched her fists and pounded on his chest, sobbing as she scolded, “Why did you do all this? You’re making me look like some unforgivable villain!”

The past misunderstandings that were left unspoken, the conclusions she had jumped to without listening to explanations, and the stubborn arguments driven by resentment—over time, all of them had punished her accordingly.

“Yinyin, what are you doing?” Fang Youyou watched her crying and lashing out, puzzled. Pei Yu, on the other hand, silently endured it, not making a sound, which made him appear even more sympathetic.

“It’s nothing, Grandma. It’s my fault. Let her vent.”

Pei Yu waved his hand, signaling Fang Youyou to leave the hospital room and give them some space.

Chen Shu Yin’s face was flushed from crying, her entire complexion tinged red.

Pei Yu wiped away her tears. “Alright, you wake up and the first thing you do is cry.”

He didn’t ask for further clarification; he simply looked at her quietly. Chen Shu Yin knew that he understood.

Pei Yu raised an eyebrow, his usual nonchalant demeanor returning. “I’m a responsible person, always happy to be kind to you. So, just accept it without feeling pressured.”

“Right now, I’m your husband. Isn’t it only natural for me to follow your wishes?”

“What’s important is that we are together now. Everything that came before… let’s just consider it a dream. In dreams, nightmares and reality are opposites, aren’t they?”

He always had this ability—to take earth-shattering moments and reduce them to something vague and simple with just a few lighthearted words.

“Life has its ups and downs, but I promise you this—” Pei Yu raised his hand as if taking an oath. “I will never, ever meet the same tragic end as in your past experiences.”

“You don’t get to decide that.”

“For this, I do.”

His unwavering confidence made Chen Shu Yin momentarily set aside her worries.

“This time feels different.”

“How so?”

“You’ve been lying down for too long. Eat something first.” Pei Yu skillfully unwrapped a meal box and brought a bite to her lips.

Chen Shu Yin recalled the two eerily similar scenes she had glimpsed—like fleeting echoes from the mountain spirit. “I think… I saw myself die.”

The chopsticks in Pei Yu’s hand paused mid-air, slipping from his fingers and landing on the blanket. He forced out a chuckle, as if unwilling to believe it. “Nonsense.”

Chen Shu Yin instinctively reached out to pick them up, but as she glanced at the back of her empty hand, she noticed—her ring was missing again.

She lowered her gaze, pressing her lips together. Her words did seem ridiculous. “But I came back to life afterward.”

After the doctor completed his check-up and confirmed that all her vitals were within normal range, Chen Shu Yin chose to discharge herself and recover at home.

During that time, the police came to take her statement. It was confirmed to be Zhu Fang Ning’s fault, and under her request, the case was settled with medical compensation.

“Yinyin, can we… talk?” Now that everything was settled, Fang Zimiao stopped her, anxiety flickering in her eyes.

“There’s nothing left to discuss. The things you wanted are with Grandma. Whether she chooses to give them to you or not is her decision. If you plan to convince me instead, I’m sorry, but that’s impossible.” Chen Shu Yin lowered her eyes. “Some people are just destined to have shallow family ties. Maybe we are like that. You boldly chose your own life, and I should congratulate you for it.”

Fang Zimiao bowed her head in shame. “Yinyin, I’m sorry.”

“On that point, I forgive you. But from now on, I hope you won’t appear in my life again or disturb my grandmother. Can you do that?” Chen Shu Yin held her arm and hesitated for a few seconds before concluding, “Goodbye.”

“Finished talking?”

Pei Yu had been watching from a distance. As soon as she walked over, he reached for her hand.

Since they had gone public, he no longer cared about being photographed. He didn’t even wear a mask.

Chen Shu Yin nodded and glanced at a couple walking their dog nearby. “Pei Yu, let’s go bring Lingdang back.”

Pei Yu hesitated. “You… aren’t afraid anymore?”

“I am. But more than that, I want to break my own prejudice against it. Besides, it’s a life you risked your own to save.” Chen Shu Yin recalled the events before her first time-travel and felt a lingering fear.

Pei Yu nodded. “I don’t want you to force yourself. If you really want to bring it back, let’s take it step by step—first, overcome your fear, then try to bond with it, okay?”

At the end of June, Chen Shu Yin successfully passed her evaluation and was offered a transfer opportunity to the Central Broadcast Station. It was a two-hour flight from Tanzhu. A weekly commute was manageable for her, but Pei Yu remained silent, his thoughts unreadable.

He had returned to the entertainment industry, and his career was still on the rise. Following her move would disrupt his professional trajectory. But prolonged separation would be agonizing for a newlywed couple like them.

“Have you made up your mind? Are you staying there?” Pei Yu didn’t see this as an insurmountable challenge, but he was worried about how exhausting it would be for her.

“Mm. Grandma still needs you to take care of her.” Chen Shu Yin kept her yet-to-be-decided Plan B to herself.

Pei Yu respected her decision. “Alright. Just don’t fly back without warning. I’ll visit you every week, and if you miss Grandma, I’ll bring you back myself.”

“You sound like you have some secret plan,” Chen Shu Yin teased, grabbing his collar and pulling him close. She traced circles on his chest with her other hand, eyes glimmering playfully.

“I’ll report everything to you—that’s the basic rule.” Pei Yu shook his head, a faint smile playing on his lips. “I just remembered something.”

“What?”

Pei Yu grasped her wrist, guiding her hand down his chest. “Have you figured out the pattern of your time-traveling yet?”

Chen Shu Yin deflated. “No.”

His smile deepened. “If it happens again, I’d be worried you’d seduce me back in high school.”

Chen Shu Yin’s eyes widened. “You—how did you know I traveled back to high school?”

She was an open book to Pei Yu, making it easy for him to guess.

He smirked, looking at her knowingly. “So? Did you?”

His vague wording made Chen Shu Yin flustered. She yanked him down onto the bed, straddling his waist. “Weren’t you the one who said no dating in high school? Now look at you, acting all eager.”

“Regretting it deeply.” Pei Yu held her waist with both hands, looking utterly pleased.

Chen Shu Yin sat on his abdomen, wrapping her arms around him. “You were just a boy back then. I’d have felt guilty, you know?”

His eyes darkened as he grasped her waist and pulled her closer. “And now? No guilt at all?”

She shivered at his touch. His warmth surrounded her, and for the first time, she embraced the thought that, finally, they had set everything right.
