Chapter 1: Endure It
Inside the red bridal chamber, a woman let out soft murmurs.
Ye Xin Ran felt as though a fire was blazing within her body, threatening to consume her entirely.
She twisted uncomfortably, trying to ease the sensation.
Faint voices drifted intermittently to her ears.
“Huai’an, I’ve brought the antidote. Whether it works or not depends on her own luck.
Honestly, I don’t see why you’re going to all this trouble.
This type of low-grade drug is actually easy to cure. All you two need to do is roll around in bed, and it’ll work better than any antidote.
It’s your wedding night anyway, so consider it a way to spice up the bridal chamber!”
The person rambled on endlessly until a cold voice cut them off abruptly:
“The medicine is delivered. Now leave!”
“Hey, don’t be like this! I came all this way hoping to drink a cup of wedding wine, and this is how you treat me?”
“There’s no wedding wine here. If you want some, drink outside!”
“Stingy!”
As the words fell, the sound of footsteps echoed, and it seemed someone left the room.
Ye Xin Ran took a deep breath, trying to regain her composure.
What was happening?
Hadn’t she activated the self-destruct device in her lab to escape being kidnapped by the enemy organization?
Had she been captured after all?
Just as confusion overtook her, a flood of unfamiliar memories poured into her mind.
Ye Xin Ran quickly sorted through the information and was left stunned.
Good news: She was still alive and hadn’t been kidnapped!
Bad news: She had transmigrated! And she had been married off to a cripple.
The cripple was a hunter who also had three kids!
The original owner of this body, who happened to share her name, had slit her wrists in the bridal chamber to avoid the marriage. That’s how Ye Xin Ran ended up here.
How tragic!
Ye Xin Ran lamented her fate.
She had transmigrated into the body of someone unloved by her parents.
Not only was she neglected, but they had married her off to a cripple!
At that moment, the man, who had been silent in the room, stood up and began walking toward her bed.
Through the bed curtains, Ye Xin Ran could see the limping figure approaching. Cold sweat broke out in her palms.
He’s coming! He’s coming! He’s going to roll in bed with me!
“Y-you, don’t come any closer!”
Ye Xin Ran’s voice trembled, carrying a hint of shy allure that made her cheeks flush.
“You’re awake?”
The man’s voice was cold and distant.
Ignoring her words, he quickly lifted the bed curtain.
His movements were so swift that Ye Xin Ran didn’t have time to react. She instinctively sat up, clutching the blanket to cover herself.
At the same time, two exclamations of “What the hell!” escaped her lips for different reasons.
The first was because of the man’s stunning appearance.
His features were sharp and defined, with ink-dark brows and eyes. His tall, straight figure was as elegant as a pine tree.
With such looks and bearing, he would easily rank in the top three on Ye Xin Ran’s list of the most handsome men.
The second “What the hell” was directed at herself.
Behind the man was a bronze mirror, and it clearly reflected her own shockingly ugly face.
On her left cheek was a reddish-brown scar that extended from her brow all the way down to her chin.
The right side of her face was covered in a thick layer of powder.
The result was a ghastly appearance that was neither human nor ghost-like, even startling herself!
Alright, alright, alright!
She immediately retracted her earlier thoughts. With this kind of face, there was no way this man came over intending to roll in bed with her.
Whoever arranged this marriage must have thought it was a perfect match, a cripple paired with an ugly woman, both equally pitiful!
In contrast, the man remained calm.
Faced with Ye Xin Ran’s appearance, he showed neither fear nor disgust. Instead, he asked blandly:
“Who gave you the drug you’re under?”
If he hadn’t brought it up, Ye Xin Ran might have forgotten. But at his words, she once again felt as if countless ants were crawling over her body.
The itching sensation came from within, carrying a deep-seated longing that felt like it was clawing at her very soul.
It was clearly the lowest-grade aphrodisiac, yet it was almost impossible to resist!
“It… it was my mother! Ugh!”
Unable to bear it, she twisted her body slightly, a low moan unintentionally escaping her throat.
Ye Xin Ran’s eyes widened in horror, and she quickly slapped her hand over her mouth.
The original owner’s mother truly had a vicious heart!
Afraid her daughter would refuse to marry, she resorted to such underhanded tactics.
Despicable, shameless, disgusting!
Ye Xin Ran cursed the woman a thousand times in her heart.
Ye Xin Ran’s gaze grew more hazy.
The man carried a pleasant scent, and his proximity only made the fire within her burn hotter.
“Damn it!”
Her consciousness was becoming increasingly blurred. What should she do if she couldn’t hold on any longer?
Suddenly, Ye Xin Ran lunged at the man.
Xiao Huai’an tried to dodge but, due to his leg injury, stumbled and ended up pinned beneath her.
“Ugh…”
The man groaned in pain, but to Ye Xin Ran, the sound felt like an invitation.
She began tearing at the man’s clothes.
“Rip!”
“You smell so good!”
“Rip!”
“Your skin tone is exactly my type!”
“Rip!”
“Don’t worry, I’ll take responsibility for you!”
…
Sweet talking came effortlessly to her lips.
However, Ye Xin Ran grew frustrated when she couldn’t figure out how to untie the man’s belt.
“Stop!”
The man’s voice turned ice-cold.
“Get off me.”
“I won’t!”
Failing to remove his clothes, Ye Xin Ran turned to tearing at her own instead.
Finally, Xiao Huai’an could endure no more. With a quick motion, he pressed a point on Ye Xin Ran’s back, leaving her body limp and weak. She collapsed on top of him.
Xiao Huai’an got up, tossed Ye Xin Ran onto the bed, and straightened his own clothes. In a frosty tone, he said:
“If you’re so unwilling to marry, why couldn’t you endure this quietly?
Aunt Zhang is already brewing the antidote. Once you’ve taken it, go back to your home!”
With that, he turned and walked toward the door.
“Wait!” Ye Xin Ran called out.
Xiao Huai’an paused mid-step.
Ye Xin Ran, regaining a sliver of clarity, forced herself to ask:
“Did you reject me so decisively because you dislike my face? Or… are you just not capable?”
