## Chapter 23: Doing Her Part
Lu Shiyuan was shut out again. He hugged his pillow, opened his mouth to speak, but finally couldn’t bring himself to knock again. He took his pillow and went to sleep on the sofa.
In the room, Lin Yangyang lay on the big bed, looking very happy!
Now it was good, Lu Shiyuan was making things difficult for himself, finding an excuse to kick himself out.
She wasn’t so petty as to really be angry with him, but taking this opportunity to kick him out of the living room, she could have the big bed all to herself?
Besides, although they had agreed on once a week… who knew if he would suddenly “go wild” when they were sleeping together, completely ignoring any agreement?
He was the one who wrongly suspected her.
Sitting by the table lamp, Lin Yangyang looked at the doll that had seen some years, remembering Zhang Yi’s heartbroken expression, she felt that this doll was significant.
She took the needle and thread, carefully following the original track, unpicking all the cotton threads of the doll and re-sewing them.
The doll was quite old, many of the cotton threads were worn out and could break at any time.
It was the weekend the next day, the twins didn’t have to go to school, but Lu Shiyuan went back to the army early in the morning, because he had to deal with the superior’s inspection.
Lin Yangyang had slept late yesterday, and when she woke up, it was almost ten o’clock, and only after she got up did she remember that it was the weekend.
She was worried that the two children might not even have eaten breakfast at home, but when she went to the kitchen, she saw the two treasures burning firewood in front of the stove, and something was cooking in the pot.
Lin Yangyang quickly ran over, “Oh my, what are you doing, it’s so dangerous! Get away from the stove!”
For Lin Yangyang, even she, a twenty-something-year-old adult, thought the stove was very dangerous, let alone a pair of five-year-old children?
Lu Jia’an and Lu Jia’an looked at her in bewilderment, not understanding.
“Jia’an, drop the iron rod in your hand, what if you get burned? Ningning, you too, come out quickly, the flames are shooting up very fast, what if it burns your face? Hurry, hurry, hurry, all of you get out.”
Her words made the two children even more confused.
Lin Yangyang quickly took the two children out of the kitchen, checking them anxiously to see if they were injured.
“Mom, we’re not hurt.” Lu Jia’an said softly, “We’re just cooking corn and eggs.”
Looking at Lu Jia’an’s little finger pointing at the big pot, Lin Yangyang frowned slightly and asked, “Have you been cooking the whole time?”
Lu Jia’an nodded, her small hand holding her big hand, never letting go.
Lin Yangyang went over and opened the big pot, and inside were three ears of corn and three eggs.
The corn was half-cooked, Lin Yangyang had no choice but to chase the twins out of the kitchen, and then continue to burn the fire herself.
The twins stood at the door, looking at Lin Yangyang, who couldn’t burn the fire, and then couldn’t help but look at each other.
When Lin Yangyang finished cooking and took the things out of the kitchen, the twins saw that Lin Yangyang, who had been clean and tidy, was now covered in soot.
Lu Jia’an looked at her and couldn’t help but laugh.
Lin Yangyang was a little embarrassed, she knew what they were laughing at.
“Remember this, don’t go near the stove. If you accidentally ignite the dry grass, you won’t even have a chance to stop it, it will quickly burn down the whole kitchen. It’s fine if the kitchen burns down, but what if you get hurt?”
Lu Jia’an pursed her lips slightly, looking at her incredulously.
Didn’t Mom always ask them to go to the kitchen and make breakfast or lunch for her?
Why is Mom now saying that it’s very dangerous for them to be in the kitchen?
But Ningning couldn’t speak, she could only look at Lin Yangyang, hoping to gesture to her.
Lin Yangyang, covered in soot, took the things to the living room and let the two children sit down and eat.
Lu Jia’an wanted to talk to Lin Yangyang, but she couldn’t speak, she could only keep gesturing, hoping that Lin Yangyang could understand.
Lin Yangyang knew that Lu Jia’an had something to say to her, but she couldn’t understand what Lu Jia’an was trying to express.
“Ningning, after you finish eating, your brother can go play, but you have to stay at home, okay?”
Perhaps due to the influence of the original owner on Lu Jia’an, Lu Jia’an’s personality was a bit timid.
In the original text, Lin Yangyang was already dead at this time, and Lu Jia’an was with Fang Shuting.
Fang Shuting’s method was very effective, and Lu Jia’an later became introverted and bold under Fang Shuting’s influence.
Lin Yangyang didn’t know what method Fang Shuting used, but now that she was Ningning’s biological mother, she naturally had to teach Lu Jia’an how to get along with others.
“Jia’an, after you finish eating breakfast, you can go out for a walk.”
Lu Jia’an looked at her with a look of understanding and nodded lightly.
Lin Yangyang broke an ear of corn in half, then let Lu Jia’an eat half, and she took the other half, neatly peeling off the corn kernels.
When they had all finished eating, Lin Yangyang took Lu Jia’an’s hand and sat aside.
“Ningning, Mom will teach you sign language, once you learn sign language, more and more people will understand what you want to express, and you will be able to communicate smoothly with others.”
Although she would eventually cure Ningning’s throat, before that, she still had to get along well with others.
Lin Yangyang could only teach her sign language now.
The people around her might not all know sign language, but at least she could use it to express her thoughts.
Over time, people in the compound would naturally understand what she was expressing.
Fortunately, there were two deaf-mute people in the orphanage when she was a child, so the teachers asked them to learn sign language.
Although it had been so many years, Lin Yangyang still remembered it clearly, so she started teaching Ningning today.
Lu Jia’an studied very hard, because if she learned well, she could communicate with people properly in the future!
It wasn’t until the afternoon that Lu Shiyuan came back, looking tired.
Seeing him sitting on the sofa with his coat, looking at the ceiling, not knowing what he was thinking.
Lin Yangyang went over and took his coat for him, then poured him a cup of tea.
Lu Shiyuan was stunned by Lin Yangyang’s ‘service’.
He really didn’t expect that one day, Lin Yangyang would serve him when he came back tired.
“How was the inspection today?”
Lu Shiyuan looked up at her and nodded, “It’s a good thing you re-sewed all the comrades’ clothes. The commander of the other regiment also found the problem with the uniforms, and they also found people to re-sew the clothes overnight. But they weren’t strong. During the inspection today, many soldiers in their regiment had their clothes rip… they made a big fool of themselves and were severely criticized.”
