Chapter 27
Ma Jinmei saw that the three of them had shoes, but she didn’t.
She was making a hair tie with her hands, seemingly concentrating, but her eyes were always looking over there.
Seeing Xu Leshu take out a red handbag, he quickly retracted his gaze.
Pretend to be calm and concentrate on the task at hand.
“This is for you, Mom.”
Ma Jinmei turned around and saw a red handbag, which was made of leather and looked very nice.
I couldn’t suppress the smile on my face, so I quickly checked the results.
“Why are you spending so much money, kid? You can save some money for future schooling, why waste it?”
“Then give it back to me, I’ll go and return it.”
Xu Leshu reached out to take it back, but was dodged.
Ma Jinmei glared at her and said, “Since you’ve already bought it, it’s not worth it to go to the provincial capital to return it and waste time and the round-trip fare. I’ll just take it and carry it on my back.”
Xu Leshu saw that she was obviously very happy but wanted to say something to spoil the mood.
He chuckled and said, “It’s not a big deal. My uncle-in-law often goes on business trips to the provincial capital. I can just ask Brother Jianjun to return it when the time comes. You don’t like it anyway.”
Seeing that she was really trying to take it, I quickly held it in my arms.
“I like it, I like it. You gave it to me, why do you want to take it back and return it?”
“You said I should save my money for college, right? I think I should save it for college.”
“Mom was just joking. Your parents and grandma have prepared money for your college tuition. Just keep the money for yourself as pocket money.”
“Oh, so you’re not going to quit?”
Ma Jinmei smiled and shook her head: “No, no, my mother likes it very much.”
Xu Leshu snorted with a smile, sat down, and gave a piece of watermelon to Old Lady Xu.
“Grandma, do you know anyone who can embroider?”
“Embroidery?” Old Mrs. Xu took the watermelon and looked at her granddaughter in confusion.
“Yes, I want to open a clothing store. After all, the profit from posting social media posts is too small.”
Ma Jinmei, who was concentrating on looking at the bag, paused when she heard this, her eyes full of shock.
Her second daughter is so bold. Selling hair bands is not enough, now she even wants to sell clothes, and she is even planning to rent a house to open a store. How much money will that cost?
“Nannan, this is not a joke. The money and experience required to open a store are not easy to come by.”
Xu Leshu took a bite of watermelon and nodded: “I know, but I want to try it.”
“I’ve been wandering around the provincial capital for a few days recently, and a few ideas came to my mind, so I wanted to try them out.”
Ma Jinmei looked at her mother-in-law. In fact, she disagreed. A child’s main focus should be on studying.
It would be fine if I just started out selling hair bands on a small scale, but now I have to open a clothing store, and the cost is not as high as that of hair bands, which is almost zero.
Xu Weiguo pondered for a moment and said, “Xiaoshu, this is not a joke. Opening a store is not as simple as selling hair bands.”
“I know.”
Xu Weiguo was so blocked by his second daughter’s words “I know” that he didn’t know what to say, so he had to turn to the old lady, hoping that she would stop his second daughter’s whimsical ideas.
Old Mrs. Xu glanced at her granddaughter who was in high spirits and put down the watermelon rind in her hand.
He smiled and nodded: “Okay, since Nannan wants to try it, let’s try it.”
“It just so happens that grandma still has some savings here, so take it, my daughter.”
“Mom, what are you doing? Why are you fooling around with Xiaoshu?”
Xu Weiguo frowned as he looked at the smile on the old lady’s face. There was no way the old lady didn’t know how difficult it was to open a store from scratch.
Old Mrs. Xu glared back angrily: “Why are you talking so loudly? I am not deaf yet.”
“Since Nannan has such an idea, I, as a grandmother, will definitely be the first to support her. Why don’t you agree?”
Ma Jinmei hesitated and said, “Mom, your money…”
Old Lady Xu glanced at her and said, “Don’t worry. Apart from living expenses, you haven’t touched a penny of your money. I have kept a careful record of every penny you have spent.”
“Do I need your permission to use my own capital?”
When Ma Jinmei heard that the money was not going to be used for her and her husband’s salary, she felt relieved.
He smiled and shook his head: “What are you talking about, mom? We make money for you and the children, so you can decide.”
Seeing this, Xu Weiguo also nodded: “It’s up to mom to decide.”
Xu Leshu looked at them and said, “Don’t worry, I still have some money here. I don’t need grandma’s money.”
Old Lady Xu wanted to say something but was stopped by Xu Leshu: “Grandma, how can I use your old capital for my work? I will be filial to you in the future, how can I use your old capital in return?”
“Besides, I have money. I didn’t use the compensation the Chen family gave me last time, and I also made some money from selling hair bands later.”
“The fabrics I bought in the provincial capital this time were all at wholesale prices, so I didn’t spend much.”
“
Besides, even if I rent a store, it won’t cost that much. I have the confidence that my grandma believes in me. ”
Old Lady Xu touched her hand and said, “Of course I believe you. If you run out of money, come to me for it.”
“Okay.” Xu Leshu smiled with her eyes curved.
Old Mrs. Xu thought for a moment and said, “Speaking of embroidery, I can do some simple ones, such as embroidering flowers, leaves, and simple small animals.”
“I know of two people in this residential building who are really good at embroidery. One of them is Lele’s grandmother Zhao Hua.”
“Zhao Hua’s embroidery is unique in the family housing complex. The kittens and puppies she embroidered are lifelike, just like the real thing, and every hair is clearly embroidered.”
“Her daughter-in-law is your Aunt Li. She has inherited your grandmother Zhao’s true teachings. Although her embroidery is far inferior to her mother-in-law’s, it is much better than mine.”
“The other one is your eldest aunt. Her family used to be a famous embroidery family. Because they were reported as landlords, their family was severely tortured.”
“Now, except for your eldest aunt, most of the Liu family are dead or injured, so if you need someone who can do good embroidery, your eldest aunt is a good choice.”
Xu Leshu thought about it and realized from her memory that she didn’t spend much time with her aunt and basically only saw her once a year.
I had never seen this aunt embroider when I was at my hometown.
However, from the patches on my cousin’s clothes, it can be seen that my cousin’s clothes and pants are mostly covered with small flowers, cats, birds and so on.
I remember when she was a child she kept asking for it, and her aunt embroidered a morning glory on her clothes. Now I think those little things were embroidered very well.
The stitches are meticulous and neat, and the embroidery looks very three-dimensional.
Xu Leshu nodded: “Why haven’t I seen my aunt embroider before?”
“In the countryside, we used to work to earn work points. Now we have contracted the land, and the whole family relies on the crops from the land to make a living. Your aunt has no time to embroider that.”
Old Mrs. Xu looked at her and said, “Nannan, if you really want to open a shop, you can just find someone who can use a sewing machine. You don’t need someone who can embroider clothes.”
Xu Leshu shook her head: “No, I want to find someone who can sew clothes and embroider.”
Seeing her so sure, Old Lady Xu said, “Then Grandma, call back tomorrow and ask your aunt to come.”
Xu Leshu looked up at Old Lady Xu and said, “Grandma, let’s go back tomorrow. You haven’t been back for a long time. You must miss Brother Xiaohong, Sister Shanshan, and Xiao Wei’an.”
