Chapter 99
Fu Linzhou quickly rolled up his own shirt, then pushed out his round belly, glanced ahead, feeling something was off, so he took a deep breath and looked down again, still feeling it wasn’t right.
He put his shirt down, ran over to Fu Qingshan, and directly rolled up the hem of Fu Qingshan’s shirt. Then his small hand, unable to hold back, gave a slap on Fu Qingshan’s abs and loudly declared, “Bald Aunt loves watching this!”
Qiao Xinyi: “!!!”
The sky was about to fall!
Ignoring her numb legs, she looked up at Fu Qingshan and saw his expression gradually deepen, his smile fading.
Oh no! She had let the little troublemaker get to her heart, and now the troublemaker was about to hang her off a cliff!
“Bald Aunt really loves watching this. My brother and I think it’s like sticking several square rice cakes on the belly,” Fu Linzhou said, then lowered Fu Qingshan’s shirt, shrugging his shoulders. “Looks like it, but you can’t eat it, and it’s not nice to look at at all.”
Qiao Xinyi didn’t even have time to cover Fu Linzhou’s mouth—everything that could be said or shouldn’t be said, the little brat had said it all!
Fu Qingshan gave a sarcastic smile toward Qiao Xinyi, “Loves watching this?”
Qiao Xinyi quickly shook her head in denial, “No, it’s mostly that watching the sparring matches is interesting. They’re not wearing clothes, so all the extra stuff just happened to catch my eye.”
“Watching sparring is interesting?” Fu Qingshan curled the corners of his mouth, “Tell me, who wins the most in this squad?”
“…”
Qiao Xinyi was at a loss for words—who knew? Feeling guilty, she didn’t dare meet Fu Qingshan’s eyes.
Fu Qingshan chuckled softly, then called the two kids over to support Qiao Xinyi as he walked toward the comrades doing sparring training.
He patted the squad leader’s shoulder and said earnestly, “It’s okay during normal times, but if there are family members watching in the future, make sure everyone wears their shirts. It’s not very decent to be bare-chested.”
A bunch of grown men—how are they supposed to find girlfriends if their purity gets lost like this?
While everyone hurriedly put on their clothes, Fu Qingshan walked back satisfied and returned to Qiao Xinyi’s side.
“Let’s go back.”
Qiao Xinyi’s legs finally stopped being numb, but her mind felt numb. She followed behind Fu Qingshan, made a “breakup” gesture at Fu Linzhou and Fu Zeyu, then turned her head to the side.
Fu Zeyu leaned close to his brother’s ear, “Brother, is Bald Aunt angry?”
“I think Uncle is unhappy,” Fu Linzhou covered his mouth laughing, “Uncle doesn’t like Bald Aunt watching other uncles.”
“Uncle is so petty. I don’t mind Bald Aunt watching other kids,” Fu Zeyu shook his brother’s hand, “We’re the most generous kids in the world!”
Qiao Xinyi struggled hard not to laugh at the two kids’ not-so-quiet whispering, but she felt too guilty to laugh.
When they got home, the two kids rushed into the yard, kicked off their shoes, and ran inside to drink water.
Fu Qingshan, already wearing slippers, stood at the door and noticed Qiao Xinyi hadn’t come in yet. He looked back at her, “Not coming in?”
“In! In!” Qiao Xinyi nodded repeatedly.
After she changed into slippers, Fu Qingshan was still standing there staring at her. Qiao Xinyi moved a couple of steps toward where she put her canvas bag, then suddenly heard Fu Qingshan call her full name.
“Qiao Xinyi.”
“Here! Here!” Qiao Xinyi responded quickly.
Fu Qingshan glanced toward the kitchen, where the two kids were busy pouring cool boiled water into their small bottles, not paying attention to the living room.
He leaned close to Qiao Xinyi and lowered his voice, “Did you notice I’m unhappy?”
Qiao Xinyi touched her nose tip and nodded slightly. Anyone with eyes could see that Fu Qingshan had been biting his lip into a thin line all the way back here.
Fu Qingshan gave a grunt and stood up straight, “You can start coaxing me now.”
“……” Qiao Xinyi suddenly looked up at Fu Qingshan. After thinking for a moment, she tentatively asked, “Can I coax you well?”
“Why don’t you try and see?” Fu Qingshan slid both hands into his pockets and leaned half his body against the door behind him. From his posture, it seemed he had already relaxed.
Qiao Xinyi thought to herself, Has he been waiting for me to coax him all this way? But she had no experience coaxing men—not even theoretical experience.
But now that she was in this situation, she took a deep breath, took off her hat, stepped forward two steps, and almost pressed herself against Fu Qingshan’s chest.
She stopped, then suddenly stood on tiptoe and leaned toward his lips.
They were so close that her hand rested on his chest, and when she blinked, her eyelashes lightly brushed his face.
Fu Qingshan was so surprised he became tense, and his ear tips gradually turned red.
Is this how she coaxes him?
Fu Qingshan’s hands, hidden in his pockets, had unknowingly moved to her lower back. He was afraid that if she came closer, he’d be even more flustered; yet if she suddenly pulled away, he wouldn’t have time to savor the moment.
But those mere thirty seconds seemed to have a freezing effect on time. Half a minute felt as long as half a century.
Qiao Xinyi pulled back a little, looked at Fu Qingshan’s expression, and timidly asked, “Are you still angry?”
Her tone was quite cautious. Fu Qingshan lowered his gaze and met her big round eyes, then immediately laughed.
Fu Qingshan said appreciatively, “Li Xiuying wasn’t wrong calling you a cat. You’re so bold, yet so passionate. Beautiful and fierce.”
“Are those soldiers really that good looking?”
Fu Qingshan, feeling helpless, gently pinched Qiao Xinyi’s cheek, “I have some of that too. In the future, you’re not allowed to look at anyone else. After we get married, you can look at mine every day.”
Qiao Xinyi secretly relaxed—fortunately, Fu Qingshan was easy to coax.
Also fortunately, there were no smartphones these days—otherwise, Fu Qingshan would be angry every day, and she’d have to coax him every day! Big data knows her well; open any video or reading app, and it’s all full of beautiful people!
“Mm.” Qiao Xinyi was very obedient at the moment.
Sure, the outside world had beautiful sights, but if her boyfriend was unhappy, she could manage to look less.
Putting herself in his shoes, if Fu Qingshan stared at other women, she’d be angry too—to the point that the man wouldn’t be worth keeping. So she didn’t blame Fu Qingshan for being petty. After all, no young couple in love is broad-minded.
After lunch at the army, Qiao Xinyi left. When she got home, Chen Yubing told her that Qiao Laidi had come looking for her in the morning. Hearing this, Qiao Xinyi took a sip of water and went out again, heading straight to Qiao Laidi’s house.
Qiao Laidi hadn’t gone out today—she was afraid Qiao Xinyi might come and find her and end up disappointed.
“I asked for you. Whether it’s the bicycle or the fan, Brother Zeng said he wants them both. Brother Zeng wants to talk to you in person. If you’re free now, I’ll take you to see him.”
As soon as Qiao Laidi finished speaking, Qiao Xinyi immediately said she was free, locked the door, and went out with Qiao Laidi and the two kids.
After leaving the alley, Qiao Xinyi followed Qiao Laidi onto a bus. One stop before the bus terminal, Qiao Laidi told Qiao Xinyi to get off. They walked for nearly twenty minutes before arriving at a small courtyard.
This place was near the edge of the city, somewhat like a small village.
Qiao Laidi went forward and knocked on the door, “Brother Zeng, it’s me.”
Someone inside replied faintly from far away, then after nearly half a minute, came to open the door.
Zeng Shunxing first glanced at Qiao Xinyi, the only stranger outside, then stepped aside to let them in.
