Chapter 31
Seeing that the flames of war were about to burn towards her, Bai Yan quickly forced a smile and said, “Hello, Chief Engineer Tan. What a coincidence. Do you also like to watch “The Song of Cid”? “
Tan Hean handed the book over. “I read a few chapters in New China before. I didn’t expect to see it again here.”
He smiled and said, “It’s rare to see a lesbian who likes to read long books about medieval Europe, and they’re original foreign language editions. It seems that Comrade Bai Yan’s English level is really high. Since you like it, I won’t take it away from you.”
Meng Hechuan was still standing in front of her, so Bai Yan didn’t dare to reach out to take it.
“No, I just want to take a look.”
Hearing her refusal, Tan Hean didn’t say anything. He just smiled politely and took the book back.
Meng Hechuan obviously didn’t like Tan Hean, so when he saw him here, he said politely, “We have bought the books, so we won’t disturb Chief Engineer Tan’s interest.”
When Bai Yan was taken away by Meng Hechuan, she thought to herself that the villain and the protagonist were indeed mortal enemies.
These two men have barely spoken two sentences to each other since they met, and every word they say is sarcastic.
I have to avoid them when I see them in the future, to avoid the gods fighting and the little ghosts suffering.
After going down to the first floor, Meng Hechuan began to ask questions: “Bai Yan, how did you run into Tan Hean again?”
Bai Yan felt very wronged. How did she know that she and the male protagonist were so compatible?
But he still said piously, “Chief Engineer Meng, I really don’t know why he is here.”
Meng Hechuan stared at her for a long time before giving up. “Bai Yan, I’ve already told you about Tan Hean. I don’t want to warn you again and again. You should have less contact with him.”
Bai Yan nodded hurriedly.
Then he gave up.
The two walked out again. Lu Jili, with a bored look on his face, was already kicking stones with his hands in his pockets.
Bai Yan was about to greet him when someone pulled her arm and she turned and walked into the Friendship Department Store next door.
“What are you doing in the department store?” Bai Yan asked in surprise, looking at the busy department store.
Meng Hechuan had no intention of helping her solve her puzzlement. He raised his chin at the women’s clothing section at the back and said, “Go there.”
Seeing Bai Yan still standing there motionless, he raised his thick eyebrows and calmly made an excuse, “My mother’s birthday is the day after tomorrow, and I want to buy her a piece of clothing. You are a lesbian, so your taste should be better than mine.”
When Bai Yan heard this, the expression on her face relaxed and she laughed at herself for being too suspicious.
As he followed her forward, she muttered, “I’m most afraid of villains being filial.”
“What are you talking about?”
Today is the weekend, there are too many people in the department store, and the shouting is so loud that Meng Hechuan couldn’t hear it clearly.
Bai Yan was about to make an excuse when someone carrying a large suitcase passed by her.
Before Bai Yan could say anything, she was pushed and fell towards Meng Hechuan.
The two collided.
His hand rested on the girl’s shoulder at the right time. Bai Yan’s body smelled of fresh soap, and the tip of her thick black ponytail swept across his knuckles as she turned.
Some itching.
“Why are you squeezing? The road is so wide!”
Bai Yan finally stood firm, smoothed the corners of her clothes that were messed up, and shouted a few words unhappily at the man as he left.
After cursing, he turned around and apologized to Meng Hechuan, “I’m sorry, Chief Engineer Meng, I didn’t hurt you, did I?”
As he spoke, he took two steps back and continued to keep his distance from him.
My arms suddenly felt empty, and the faint scent of soap disappeared as well.
“No.” Meng Hechuan paused for a few seconds, without a trace of unhappiness on his face.
Before he finished speaking, he reached out and held Bai Yan’s hand, and suddenly pulled her towards him.
A delivery worker pushing a cart hurriedly passed by where Bai Yan was standing and almost bumped into her again.
“There are too many people here, please go inside.”
He let go of Bai Yan’s hand and took the initiative to stand outside.
Bai Yan’s lips moved, and after a while she whispered, “Thank you.”
After the little episode, the two of them continued to walk inside in silence, but their shoulders were much closer.
The women’s clothing sales area has always been the main consumption area.
Bai Yan and her friends had just walked over when a salesperson greeted them with a smile, “Sir or Madam, would you like to buy some clothes?”
Bai Yan said ‘hmm’ and gave a brief introduction: “Are there any clothes suitable for women in their forties or fifties? Coats and dresses are both fine.”
As she spoke, she paid attention to Meng Hechuan’s reaction. Seeing that he didn’t say anything, she felt relieved. “It’s better not to choose a color that’s too dull.”
The salesperson had good eyesight and could tell at a glance that the man following the girl had purchasing power.
She smiled and led Bai Yan around for a few circles, and finally stopped in front of the cashmere coat, “Madam, this batch of cashmere sweaters and coats are produced in Jiang City. The styles are all the most popular wide-brimmed collars, suitable for men, women, young and old.”
Bai Yan touched it and nodded in affirmation, “The material is good, but the colors of this row of coats are too lively and not serious enough.”
Meng Hechuan picked up a yellow coat and handed it to her. “My mother is about the same height and build as you. Try it on first.”
Seeing that Bai Yan’s sweater was also an old one with pilling, the salesperson found a black wool sweater and gray wide-leg pants and pushed her into the fitting room to change.
He really came out like a changed person.
Bai Yan also loves beauty, so she took off her ponytail and turned around a few times in front of the mirror.
The salesperson praised her profusely, “Ma’am, you are such a clothes hanger, with a great figure and a pretty face. You can even take a poster for our department store in this outfit.”
Bai Yan was not fooled by the salesperson’s sweet talk. She smiled and said thank you to her, but still ruthlessly declined the clothes in this row, “These styles are too young to wear. I’m afraid they are not suitable for an aunt’s age.”

She kept her mission in mind.
Although he had never seen what Mrs. Meng looked like, the Meng family was a member of the powerful circle in Jingzhou, and Mrs. Meng was an official’s wife, so naturally she couldn’t dress too fancy.
It must have both grade and style.
After choosing for a while, Bai Yan’s eyes were attracted by a Balmain wool coat.
But that piece was imported, and Bai Yan wasn’t sure if Meng Hechuan would find it too expensive, so she tried to ask him, “Do you think this one is okay?”
“As long as you think it’s okay.” Meng Hechuan took it without even asking the price, and gave it directly to the salesperson to issue an order.
Bai Yan secretly criticized his behavior as a young master, and walked towards the fitting room on her own accord, intending to change back into her original clothes.
When passing by the dressing mirror, I slowed down and took a few more glances.
The girl in the mirror has curved eyebrows and is wearing a long cashmere coat. She looks pretty and cool.
“Bai Yan.” Meng Hechuan suddenly stopped her.
Bai Yan looked up and saw the man standing in the mirror, as handsome as jade, with an unconcealable nobleness.
His height was so superior that when he stood with his hands hanging down, he looked like a pine tree, tall and handsome.
The two looked at each other through the mirror. Meng Hechuan’s deep, dark eyes seemed to be soaked in ink, bottomless.
Bai Yan was forced to be drawn into the vortex in his eyes, and the noise around her seemed to disappear in an instant.
The only sound in my ears was the thumping of my heart.
He didn’t speak, and Bai Yan didn’t move.
Just a few seconds, but it seemed like a very long time had passed.
It was not until Bai Yan could no longer resist and lowered her eyelids that a clear and moist voice came through the air, “You look very good in this dress.”
Looking up again, Meng Hechuan pointed at her and said to the salesperson, “Please order the items she is wearing as well.”
