Chapter 19 – Sweep Them All Up, the Counterattack Moment Has Arrived!

Old Shen turned around but didn’t see a single family member. His anger boiled over, and he cast a sinister glance at Liu Xinghe before turning to chase after his son and wife.

After that encounter, they hadn’t gained a single advantage, and the whole family had nearly gotten themselves into trouble. How could he have such a foolish family?

“Everyone, disperse. Don’t just stand around.”

The police officers were dispersing the crowd of onlookers.

Once the crowd had left, only Liu Xinghe and the officers remained.

The lead officer asked with concern, “The wound on your neck—do you need us to take you to the hospital?”

“Thank you, officers, no need. I can feel that it’s not bleeding anymore. I can take care of it myself—Doctor Liu left me plenty of medicine earlier.”

Liu Xinghe held one hand to her neck while using the other to wipe away tears with two rolled-up banners, shaking her head.

“All right. If you need help, come to us. That family is probably still scheming to get your belongings—they won’t let it go easily. Be careful yourself.” The officer nodded, giving her a warning.

“Okay, thank you, officer. Goodbye.”

Liu Xinghe slowly walked to the door, pulled out her keys, and opened it. She waved once more to the police before closing the door behind her.

Only after stepping fully inside her room did she finally relax and return to her normal state.

Hmph. Trying to get her belongings? You’ll pay the price the moment you step in.

At the Shen residence, the whole family wailed in misery.

The only two who hadn’t been beaten:

One was Shen Dabao, the chubby little one. After today’s scare, he had become unusually quiet, sitting silently without crying or causing trouble. He looked a bit dazed and had completely lost the little tyrant temperament he once had.

The other was the eldest daughter-in-law. She hadn’t been hit either, but it wasn’t easy for her. She had to care for the three other adults, manage the medicine while being scolded, and endure the frustration.

Old Mrs. Shen shouted and scolded simultaneously:

“Eldest daughter-in-law, are you stupid today? You don’t say a word, don’t help at all, just watch that wild girl beat us, watch those people hit us! We were in so much pain we couldn’t speak. You weren’t hit, so why didn’t you speak up for us to the police, you stupid coward? Usually, at home, you’re so fierce—what happened today? Speak up! Hey, gently now!”

“Mom, I’m just trying to protect Dabao. He’s the only child in our family. If anything happened to him, how could I face our ancestors?”

Now she could speak—sharp-tongued, rolling her eyes, whispering: “And besides, that sickly girl can’t hit very hard. Look at how you’re screaming.”

“What did you say?”

Old Mrs. Shen was enraged at that whispered comment, struggling to get up and hit her daughter-in-law. Didn’t she know how much pain they were in? It still hurt like fire in her chest.

“All right, quiet down!”

Old Shen shouted, and the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law went silent. The room fell quiet.

The eldest son held a warm cloth to his injured hand, asking,

“Dad, what’s the next step? That brat isn’t the pushover that Second said she was. She doesn’t follow any rules. It hurt so much! Today, we were completely cheated, and we didn’t gain a thing.”

Old Mrs. Shen nodded in agreement. “Exactly. What do we do? I heard that girl is going down to the countryside tomorrow. We have to get that house deed and land deed. Later, we can pass them to Dabao—guaranteed to get a good daughter-in-law for him.”

“If we can’t get them openly tomorrow, we’ll go about it secretly.” Old Shen’s eyes spun with mischief. “Try to get the deeds first. If we can’t, no worries. After she goes down to the countryside, that house will still be at our disposal. Living in it so long, it’s practically ours already.”

“How? Secretly? She’s leaving tomorrow. There’s no time,” Shen Eldest said hopelessly.

“I still have a few things here. Eldest, come over. I’ll tell you how to do it.”

Old Shen pulled out a paper-wrapped package from beside the bed, handing it over. The others huddled close and began plotting.

Late at night, Liu Xinghe, lying in her Yu Jue Space room, opened her eyes, awakened by noises outside the space.

There was a function in the space: wherever she entered it, she could hear outside sounds as if she were physically there and even see the surrounding environment.

She had entered while lying on her bed in the real world. So she now had the perception of lying on her bed outside.

Outside, someone had entered her courtyard.

Liu Xinghe wasn’t scared—in fact, she was excited. Someone was trying to challenge her, coming here using only acting. Her full strength and martial skill hadn’t even been used yet.

Good. Let’s play properly today.

She put on clothes, returned to her bed in the room, and smelled a faint, unpleasant smoke. Holding her breath, she pulled out two masks from the space and layered them on.

Taking the rolling pin she had already placed near the bedside, she quietly moved to the door. Through the crack, she saw two shadowy figures whispering in the courtyard.

Too brazen. They were barely two meters from her door!

“Dad, will the smoke work? Are we just going in like this?”

“Of course. The black market guys said that after blowing in the smoke, wait ten minutes—it works. Even drums next to the ears won’t wake them. Can knock out for three hours. Don’t dawdle. Open the door, get your mom and wife in, find the stuff, and leave. Quickly!”

“Okay.”

The two figures started moving.

With this distance and these voices, Liu Xinghe could hear everything clearly.

Perfect! Looks like daytime she was too gentle.

The Shen family, bold as thieves, had come for a midnight break-in.

Today, she would sweep them all up.

Liu Xinghe clutched the rolling pin, lay back in bed, and slipped under the cool quilt to wait.

When the door finally opened, she saw Old Shen wearing a black cloth over his face, followed by Shen Eldest, his mother, and his wife, all similarly disguised.

Once inside, they nudged her, and seeing no reaction, they began standing in the middle of the room, talking brazenly.

“Start searching. The girl’s leaving for the countryside tomorrow. She must have taken the deeds from where she hides her things.”

Old Shen gave instructions: “Eldest, check the luggage and desk. Eldest daughter-in-law, check her clothes. Old lady, check her body and the area around the bed.”

“Okay.”

They didn’t dare turn on the lights, using their own flashlights and a single candle. Old Shen held a flashlight, others carried a lit candle, rummaging through everything.

Old Mrs. Shen ran to Liu Xinghe, roughly lifting the quilt.

At that moment, Liu Xinghe’s eyes snapped open. Both hands wielding the rolling pin, she struck mercilessly.

Uninvited intruders, masked in the dead of night? All treated as robbers. She defended herself fiercely.

The counterattack moment had arrived!
